@NewName Pending no, the word hoover and vacuumed is synonymous. The brand became so famous in the uk that they just referred to the vacuum as hoover. You will rarely hear the English use the word vacuum in place of "hoover".

@@dejvaju5052 Agreed it's a huge shame we never got any well done inspirations of FTL, I spent so many hours on that game and was hoping for more in that style that never came
@@ItIsYouAreNotYour Since when is cloning bad? Taking great ideas and expanding on them is a road to greatness. It's when people try to be "Original" is when we get meaningless, linear, nonsense like Sunless seas.

In fairness steamworld dig and a bunch of other games did the mining thing way before done keeper. The missile command section was also seen before though tying the 2 together was a decent idea bound to spawn further iterations.
It is interesting that with very unique games, if a similar game comes along, the complaint is always that it is just like "Dome Keeper", FTL, etc. But that is how genres even got started. How many 100s of FPS, strategy games etc are the exact same game mechanics, just with different story, graphics and content? Some of them quite loved by players.
Splatty, I just found you in this game as an Easter Egg a few moments ago. Same avatar as your YT pic, sitting in a secret room full of nerd stuffs, where you said "I wish I could go back to my Nerd Castle, but I need to find more Zyrex bones." Jumped right here to let you know that, LMAO!
Personally, I like the pacing of this much better. There is a lot of things they could add mechanically to this. The movement is a plus they could add walls to blast through as part of those boss fights, I think it would be cool if they added combat in the mine too, looks like the system could support it
I like these seek and survive type roguelikes, they remind me of an older title I had called Cargo Commander. There wasn't as much defense elements though, but a lot of oxygen and pathing management went into each run.
Clearly very inspired by Dome Keeper, but I really like the aesthetic and the animations, also the idea of moving between mines instead of just one big one, plus lore and new weapons is a nice touch
I like the idea of platforming in the mines and having the spiders mobility realky be explored, going into caverns with the spider not just opening littles holes but exploring whole ass cavea with the big scary mech cause that could be real cool
I like the suggestion of adding puzzle-platformer mechanics whilst inside the "mine". Maybe as you delve into the mines you could find Metroidvania style locks & keys giving you a reason to go back to earlier mines? Perhaps there could be powered down defences you could reactivate to help defend your spider?
Horizontal Dome Keeper, I'm up for that. Vampire survivors got a ton of clones, several of which I had a lot of fun with, don't mind spinoffs of a successful formula.
"Not sure if dome keeper with a story line is enough" are brave words in a timeline where we get gaming innovation giants such as COD, FIFA, NFL etc...
If you live in a vertical world, why wouldn't you have flyers? Little machine gun or flame turret drones; big platform drones you can eventually use to hop to like Splat suggested; a shop/repair station drone to maybe buy cool consumables during runs; etc. Have them all move slower than the spider, so you can leave them behind you, accidentally or intentionally, and they might also take damage, giving the player some more complications in defending them, or abandoning them and building them new later.
This game looks really cool, I hope the Devs can expand on it! Also, I think the reason you can fly is because you have a jetpack, and the reasons why you need the spider are for storage, you can only carry a small amount of minerals on you person, weapons to fight off the hordes of monsters, and armor to keep you from getting squashed like a bug from said monsters. :D
A world i'd love to see visualized in a manga game or movie is a gas torus surrounding a neutron star. A plausible zero gravity but breathable atmosphere setting from the novel "the integral Trees"
🎶"All in all you're just a... nother brick in the wall..." 🎶 I'm imagining this to take place in the Schlock Mercenary universe, in Eina Afa on one of the "god walls" (Sunday August 18 2013). That would make the wall 1200 kilometers high and 1400 kilometers wide with a bunch of bugs living on it.
I am liking this spin on this more than Dome Keeper. Multiple smaller mines, moving base, and rogue-lite. Dome Keeper looked like it was just an endurance game. I can see myself getting annoyed at having to play the beginning portion of Dome Keeper over and over without anything to make it go faster. Unless the final release of Doom Keeper did something address this.
This game looks awesome it definitely needs a bit more movement being able to let go of the wall and hook back on going lower but avoiding enemies and shots would be sick
Having played the full game now can say it does feel quite different to Dome Keeper once you start upgrading the movement abilities of the spider, It feels less like Missile Defense and more like its own thing. The mining part feels the same as a hundred other games in the past, DK didn't do anything new there.
I've never seen spalttercat be so negative on a game. while I wasn't that interested in dome keeper I actually think this game is more appealing than dk.
I really think this game would improve a lot with coop, and I can see some sort of mini flying pod of sorts for the 2nd player to use during the alien attacks, higher mobility since it can fly around the main robot but a lot less health and needs to reattach to it constantly to heal and replenish it's "fuel" Other than that what could help differentiate the game from others of it's kind is a higher focus on the mobility of your dome
What I want next is this, but that dwarf mining game deep rock galactic (or that steampunk land-train game with the volcano and the robots, volcanoids) rather than side scrolling. After 15 years of consoles shackling the genres We are at the precipice of gaming greatness again, I want to see someone go for it with something impressive ( but functional). Hell, top game wish? ARK/state-of-decay from A mobile base with PvE worth a damn and mini games like this for harvesting resources in a hurry as swarms arrive chasing the disturbance. It’s why I have some low low low (but hype) hopes for that dune game even though I know it will suck.

Very tasteful.

Quite the bounce in her... step.
The best part about this game is that, despite this being a sci-fi dystopia, Hoover is still a vacuum brand.
The English just calls all vacuum hoovers.
@PajamaPantsMan Therefore. The English are the true creators of this games apocalypse?

Looked like the suit has a little jetpack exhaust to "explain" why you're flying inside the mine.
Splat: "I'ma let these fall down", also Splat: "Why is there no gravity?"

Not to mention it looks like your progress between 'runs' carries over, which is already a big departure from Dome Keeper.
The art is almost identical to domekeeper
There's inspired by and then there's 100% ripped off
the suit has propulsion which is why it seems there's no gravity but you can see the sprites of propulsion behind the character
funny that he mentioned gravity just after saying that was going to let the ore drop to the bottom of the mine
to explain your flying: your literally wearing an exosuit that flies. there your explanation
DUDE!!! SPLATTERCAT!!! YOU ARE IN THE GAME!!!! Amongst a few other curators!!! How Awesome! What a badass gesture
The game explains that you need a flight suit for the mines. This is because gravity exists.

Yes, that certainly is an ...interesting choice on the part of the dev(s).
The gravity does seem lower indoors.
Domekeeper crossed with the Adam Roberts novel "On" (where the world is called The Wall because gravity works in the wrong direction)

This is better than dome keeper. Dome keeper got a wizard as a miner and sword on a rope for defense. This game actually makes sense
Providing interesting choices is more important for games than being perfectly logical. Plenty of popular games and mechanics make no sense.
