- A crash test performed 09/09/2011 to analyze the performance of a vehicle in an Oblique Overlap on the driver side. Observing the performance of seat belts and airbags, as well as dummy biomechanics. This is a 7 Degree, 20% overlap frontal crash test at 56 Mph. (90 Km/h) Driver is a 50th Percentile Male Thor dummy.
Dummy Information:
Driver
HIC15 284 - 700 Max
Chest Compression (mm) 34 - 63 Max
Neck Tension (N) 2032 - 4170 Max
Neck Compression (N) 147 - 4000 Max
Femur (N) L/R 11656/7749 - 10008 Max
High risk of leg injuries.
I know that person would be mortally wounded. But I am still impressed by the structural rigidity of this flea car.
That crash angle is one of the most difficult.
Nice with some non-predictable parameters for speed, overlap and angle. Those manufacturers knows how to exactly perform well in the euroncap tests, it´s very interesting to see tests like this!
to be fair, for 56mph it held up- you know what no it help up terribly
what do you expect, it's a smart car from 2011

@@SuperV8driver nope, this is w451 , 2007-2014
Clearly it reached its design limit. The footwell intrusion suggests boko leg injuries.
3:46, it's got knee airbags, surprised
It's a Mercedes , what do you expect
The driver lost his left hand and, quite possibly, his life too.
no
Yes he died
Yeah but he had a great tan though 😂😂😂
Some savage tests. Appears a non-deformable bullet? What's that do to the effective impact speed if it were two cars; head-on with both cars at highway speeds?
i've always wanted to know, too. i wish they would just do 1 test to prove or disprove the theory.
if a car does good while parked when the sled comes at 56mph, will it hold up the same if the car was moving?
For such a small Car it performed good
To be fair the speed of the test is 56mph (90kmh)
Much better than my Sandero...
@Omega Yeah.
0:35 I thought these cars have power window I've seen some smart cars with manual windows
There must be some chest trauma. Maybe also head injures. The steering wheel had hitted the chest before the head managed to reach its airbag! Theorerically this is a not a so bad result. however in real life this speed is quite easy to find. An head-on crash between 2 vehicles at 28 mph or 50kmh, is quite likely.
56mph are 90km/h
The nhts does more realistic destructive tests that iihs.
That wasn’t true in the 90s and 2000s
so a not-so-smart car? What did THOR ever do to you to deserve that BTW?
Mr carpro how do you love crash tests
Jimi Sean Lance Alicante let me count the ways
Do the 2004 Dodge Durango
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
He doesn't *do* them, he just logs and reports on them
Им реально наклейки девать некуда
Broke my ankle due to this death trap- fuck smart cars all my homies hate smartcars
help up terribly but for its size its good
Holy shit
what a death trap. at least its safer than a motorcycle
Quark! Im Gegenteil, er ist unter diesen Crashbedingungen erheblich besser als viele, teils deutlich größere Fahrzeuge.
No! No, and NO!

That isn’t true it’s a Mercedes and this test is very severe no car smaller then a midsize suv can do well
56mph! Most cars won't do better than this.
Volvo V60 would do OK
if this was iihs it would be poor
Wth is this crash test 👁️👄👁️
This video proves that this shit isn't safe
Crashing them is all theyre good for.Unreliable junk.....
