I’m going to be a granny soon. You have been a godsend to my daughter and I. I cannot thank you enough for the info, the humor, the knowledge, and the kindness you give.
LOL I had a c-section with my daughter the statement no lifting over 10 pounds cracked me up. I had the C-section because my daughter was over 10 pounds.
Last thing if I may, be aware that you might feel numb in the scar region FOR MONTHS, I was getting worried and scared because I still felt numb after a whole year... It is completely normal.
I've had 4 sections. My number one piece of advice is... Don't try to be wonder woman. It's OK to rest. If you need help, ask for it. Accept help when offered even if it's your annoying mother in law. A short nap is worth it. Also, the laundry can wait and your family can eat take out, tv dinners, or PB&J while you heal.
My first was emergency and 2nd was planned. It really is a less stressful experience when it’s planned. The doctor told me I was her first patient to smile through surgery.
I ended up with an infection in my C-section because my nurse removed my bandages and catheter with no gloves on. There’s a few other things that I won’t mention that were so much worse. Needless to say we didn’t pay for my son’s birth or my stay. The charge nurse said “gloves are for the nurse’s protection”. My husband is a nurse and his jaw dropped. He said proper gloving was the very first thing they learned in clinical.
I wish I had found you 3 years ago!!😩 I had a C-section with both of my daughters but there was a 11 year gap between them so I was LOST with no help during the pandemic. Thank you for all you do🙏
I was informed that a c-section maybe required since I had a laparoscopic myomectomy. I cried because I dreamed of always having a water birth. Now I’m okay long as the delivery goes smoothly. This is good to know, when I get pregnant.
I wish I had some I’d this advice 16 years ago. My c section recovery was aweful. I had a hematoma erupt from my incision and went back to the er to get it opened, irrigated and packed. Luckily my mom was a practicing RN at the time and she could do my daily dressing change. That was such a long recovery.
My first baby they had little rectangular pillows for the C-section momma's. I swear I loved that thing almost as much as my kid. And I got to keep it!
The two tips I always give about C-section recovery is (1) get up and walk as soon as you're allowed & walk as much as you can and (2) only sit in chairs with arms for a while after to avoid using those core muscles to stand.
I disagree with walking ASAP & as much as you can. It is ok to minimize movement & to rest. It feels like your abdomen will rip open so it is best to rest & let it heal. There is no need to power through a deep wound.
@@nm6857 “As much as you can” could definitely turn into overdoing it, but walking ASAP and frequently does help reduce the risk of blood clots forming in your legs (a very real risk after any surgical procedure). Everything is a balance. The body absolutely needs rest to heal. Overdoing it will set you back. But the body also needs movement to heal and stay healthy.
1st c-section I was a rock star like I did it 1,000 times. 2nd one, I healed fine. Everything was fine. Post partum depression NO JOKE!! Don’t struggle in silence. Ask for help. I asked for help and he said I was crazy. I was divorced a year later.
I could have used this advice 20 yrs ago. Instead, i got: oh, your incision looks a little red. Heres some antibiotics & was released from hospital. (Basically shoved out the door.) Not even 72 hrs later i was rushed back to the hospital. almost died due to infection 😔
They have these heat/cold packs with gel beads in them for your lower back that you can strap on. i used those for last 2 c sections omg helped with pain sooo much! The pressure of it holding my stomach and the warm heat or ice cold helped with the pain sooo much
My mom had a hard time with her first section because my oldest brother was 10 pounds when he was born So technically when he was born she wasn't allowed to pick up her own baby
I wish I cud have done that but within 2 wks I had to go back to work n leave my baby boy with his paternal grandmother (not thru choice) I regret going back to work so soon but l had no choice I suffered terrible wen I had my last baby boy I nearly died iv always told my friends to rest as advised but it was circumstances beyond my control
Don’t forget after your 6 weeks to do scar massage to avoid adhesions and lack of mobility! And pelvic floor PT! I recently started pelvic floor PT and she said my incision was one of the best healed she’s ever seen and asked if I did the massages. Seriously a few minutes a day could prevent issues in the future ❤
Im pregnant with my second child, and very excited. I had a vaginal birth with my first, but if I have a C-section this time, any tips on how to deal with my toddler? He still needs to be picked up from time to time (car seat, bathtub, etc) and he obviously weighs more than 10lbs. What ahould i do?
I mean you have to live still but if you can surround yourself with a village of helpers that's what I would do. Maybe also look into postpartum compression garmets to keep pressure on that incision for support in case you forget and grab onto your toddler without thinking about it.
God O I WISH YOU WERE AROUND a few years AGO I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH POSTPARTUM FOR 3 YEARS I HAVE BEEN IN AND OF PHYC HOSPITALS LIKE 21 TIMES NO LIE I LOVE THAT YOU DO.. WE ALL LOVE 💞 YOU AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS PLZ REPLY THAT WOULD BE GREAT
My mmm is it true that sitting harm c section wound? I can’t help but to sit in daytime and my wound has not fully recovered.. it is infected but it is not that serious. Any tips? I am 35 days postpartum
Tina, when having a c-section, is it possible to ask for an incision down the linea alba instead of a transverse incision? I'm more thinking about the watershed lines of the lymphatic system, and i honestly don't care about scarring. They're cool. No, not pregnant, but I'm someone who has both manual lymphatic drainage training and who wants to become pregnant one day.
As someone who has had both an exploratory laparotomy and a traditional Caesarian… I just want to throw out there that vertical abdominal incisions are *significantly* more painful to heal from than transverse incisions… I’m talking the difference between being on a morphine drip for two days versus needing one or two Percocet.
Based on that list I think I have postpartum depression……but I got no kids (Edit for people in the future: I have actual depression but I thought this would be a funny joke)

Eeeek thank you! Also congrats 🎉

My oldest is 22, I’m still numb.

I have a C Section scheduled for 2 week's time (my second), so helpful to be reminded of these!

Thanks for being here!

How big-ish was it?

I had 3 c sections. I was so scared to move or even cough etc. I sneezed and felt like my incision would open right up again 😕.
Ouch!! Yes it’s important to splint that incision!
I hated it too. Any movement made me feel like my abdomen would rip in half.
This is great for any abdominal surgery.😊

Me too 😢
I agree 💯 with her tips! As a mama to 11, 8 which were born via c-section
Wish someone had told me any of this with my c-section.
That, and I wish someone warned me about the emotional fallout.

Doctor: “No lifting more than 10 pounds.”
Me: proceeds to have a baby more than 10 pounds 🙃
my mom has had 9 kids and a c-section for each of them. I wonder if she knew this then.
My mom had a hard time with her first section because my oldest brother was 10 pounds when he was born So technically when he was born she wasn't allowed to pick up her own baby
#1 - What do you do when your baby is 10+ pounds 😂😂 That was the reason for my cesarean.
I wish I’d a know this 14 years ago!!! 😫😫😫😫I feel my body still hasn’t recovered…one and done mom/dad…😰😰😰it wasn’t a pleasant experience.
Where were you 3 years ago!?! Emergency c section came home and my toddler coughed in my face yup I got sick coughing was an experience.

My sister has already had two C-sections and she's about to have to have her 3rd. His due date is February 14th 2024
I always tell moms to not skip the stool softener if they think they need it. Straining post c section is not fun.
Are you more likely to have a postpartum mental health problem if you have a C-section?

Oh the compression garments are a great idea. Thanks!
I had my c-section on 24th of july and seems like something is not right with me and I have to wait over a month to get my doctor appointment. :(
I wish i found you about 8 years ago. 😢
God O I WISH YOU WERE AROUND a few years AGO I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH POSTPARTUM FOR 3 YEARS I HAVE BEEN IN AND OF PHYC HOSPITALS LIKE 21 TIMES NO LIE I LOVE THAT YOU DO.. WE ALL LOVE 💞 YOU AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS PLZ REPLY THAT WOULD BE GREAT
I use dial antibacterial soap and air dry then place a pad right there.
My mmm is it true that sitting harm c section wound? I can’t help but to sit in daytime and my wound has not fully recovered.. it is infected but it is not that serious. Any tips? I am 35 days postpartum
Bookmarking this in case there’s a response someday.
After 1 year of 2nd c section, my spine getting pain after wakeup in the morning..how can i relieve the pain..please give me advice mam
My cousin was 12lbs. when he was born...does the nothing over 10lbs. apply to the baby?
I had a c section and my baby weighed 12pounds 10oz shes almost 16 now.....lol
You amazing woman i saw you on instagram first, and than saw your video about breastfeeding and i made it 🎉🎉🎉
Take stool softeners. And check that they do not have Laxatives.!!!!!!!!!!!!
How can you not lift anything over 10lbs when your baby was born 10lbs? 😂

@@LilliesforSeverus well thank you very much for talking about your experience, TIL! Much appreciated. ❤️
Wish I knew about the pillow against the incision, ow

(Edit for people in the future: I have actual depression but I thought this would be a funny joke)
I can’t with the facial hardware.
If you need something more than Tylenol and or ibuprofen 😂 its a c section they literally cuting multiple layers to get to the baby.
I have had 10 csections and I’d say hands down the WORST thing I hear is poor girls getting that dressing taken off so soon.
Did you say 10?!
