The most exquisite ... yet immaculately divine woman ... and performer I, have ever had the pleasure of listening to and viewing. Much respect Miss Carly. So much
Never understood why this song didn't take off when it came out. I think it was incredibly catchy and a hundred times more talent than Britney Spears. I guess a lot of it really depends on the video but I like the video too. I also like this because I always thought Carly was so much better when she sang in her lower range. When she got into a really high range it got a little screechy. I think she was a fantastic singer but yeah she was way better when she sang in the lower range.
@@ariag.8745 I heard it was supposed to be marketed towards kids, but kids networks didn’t think the lyrics were appropriate. So it just ended up getting stuck in a grey area, where it wasn’t marketed to kids or adults.
Awesome! She is so pretty in this video! In my opinion, she and Michael John were the best from AI, season 7! Why she hasn't become a bigger seller of CDs is beyond my imagination? He voice is pure and powerful! Anyone who saw the tour can testify!
I remember a professor did a presentation about her for his music industry class. I'm not sure what it was called. I'd have to searh on my external HD for the file.
Wow... she looks so different in this video.. She was very young and she hasn't the tattos on her arms.. And the voi is very sweet... I rather now with We Are The Fallen.. She rocks!! ;)
love this video, love this song, love Carly, and i am super excited fir her new band We Are The Fallen to release there debut album Tear The World Down. (: (:
First listen: Huh, this is pretty good. This might be an overlooked pop classic. Second listen: "So touch me with your hands so fine/where the sun don't shine" ??????????????
Case 11 The music industry in the age of the internet: from napster to apple's ipod Is that where you got the number? lol. I'm reading that study right now and that's why I'm here.
She's such a great performer, but I prefer her "We Are the Fallen" music, still this isn't bad, just more Pop, can't wait for them to release a new album, I know their label stupidly dropped them, but they are working on new stuff.
From what I read (a beautiful research presentation by some professor about Carly for one of his classes)--they wanted to aim her music at younger audience (Nick and Disney), but the metaphors and stuff in the video didn't get approved to appear on their channel. She was talking about stuff too old for the young crowd, and she was too young for the older crowd. In addition, she had to compete with Britney and Christina and 9/11 tradgey. Even with the best songwriters on the album, it flopped.
American music industry always sucks, turning talented singers in shitty pop singers for teenagers:/ Carly was too good to be on the level where e.g Britney is. I mean, Britney could be so much better but she let people pull her down.
I remember only once and that was it but it made an impression on my young teenage mind and its bittersweet to listen to this as an twenty six year old girl. It reminds me of my first real crush.
I still agree with what I said about seven years ago boy do the years go by fast. I am 33. I was 13 and going through my first crush and heart break. I first heard this song at mall that was torn down not to long ago. I have been married and divorced since I was 26.
Yeah, i'm kind of confused as to why this didn't really make it in 2000. I mean, it sounds pretty current even now, and I think it has a good hook. And she looks amazing here... Oh well :P
Gregg Alexander and Danielle Briseboise who did the band New Radicals wrote her whole album. Main reason why I really like it. She is a great singer too. The songs just kind of missed something. Some of the tracks were great though.
She wrote and produced this track as most of the album and is singing back up which can be heard easily at times up front. Carly seemed to immitate/phrase her vocals completely the same as her probably on the demo vocal, every track sounds this way. Could have been Danielle's third album, easily.
@@apollozero this one is Gregg's according to the liner notes. But Danielle was the main producer, at least by checking the notes as well. Parts of Gregg's demo for the song were actually sampled for this version.
You're darn right. It's kinda not fair that this song wasn't as much of a hit compared to the other songs that were. And they kinda are not that great I'd say.
She sounds SO much different in We Are The Fallen... It's actually shocking. Her voice has gotten deeper and much more masculine. Very hard to believe this is the same person.
When this song was first released, the video was of Carly in a group of teeny-bopper girls having a pillow fight in her room before going out dancing. I imagine the label decided that aiming this song, with it's sexual content, at young teens was inappropriate. Does any one else remember that video?
I have to say the verse, and pre chorus as so good and she looks so hot. But the Chorus drags and is mind bogglingly underwhelming. The "baby one more time" reference was also SUPER lame. Greg Alexander is super talented but this was SUCH a huge miss, not a shocker it didn't do well.
The Gregg original is better, but I disagree completely about the chorus, it's great. The 'Baby one more time' thing was added by Carly, as the song was like 7 years old at this point, and was covered at her request (Gregg considered it too old to use).
lol this makes me laugh cause she's way better at this kind of music instead the revenge band We are the fallen Ben Moody created and tried to turn her into Amy Lee.
This doesn't even sound like the same person :O She's gotten so much better since then, it's amazing!
When you go back to a song like this it brings tears to your eyes. Unlucky Britney Spears most people seem to have forgotten this song.
The most exquisite ... yet immaculately divine woman ... and performer I, have ever had the pleasure of listening to and viewing. Much respect Miss Carly. So much
Gregg Alexander!
Danielle Brisebois!
i cannot believe how much time has passed since this song came out, i loved the shit outta this song!
It’s been 10 years since you wrote this comment. Ain’t that crazy

because she likes to sing a genre that isn't really right for her, so because of that her career never took off.
@@thatguyfromca she's the singer for rock band We Are The Fallen now
Still loving this song 2018
Good music
I bought this single at Walmart.... Reminds me of my childhood
Well worth a re release, catchy tune
out of this world new level
I remember this playing on Nickelodeon back in the day lmao
Still a good song.

Gosh, she's a LOT better in We Are The Fallen.
love it!

there are 10 years between this and we are the fallen
10 years between your comment and today
Gregg Alexander wrote the song ❤❤❤

It has a lot of sexual innuendos in the song.
+Brickbyboringbrick7 she was 16 here and in her 20s on AI.
@teamcalz ahh ikr!!

cool :)
GREGG ALEXANDER WOHOOO!!!!!!!!!
I thought this sounded like New Radicals and it turns out their singer wrote this song.
@baccatoddy Whoever you are, I love you. :))
@JJM089
lol yeah, she didn't get the tattoos until after she met her current husband (a tattoosit)

Hey, I have a tragus piercing in the same ear, too!
(also, solid evidence that she didn't dye her hair black to copy Amy Lee, haterz)
LOL no one has commented in 7 months.
Cool song, I suppose I've never heard this before.
+Jacob Wallace its because this album was a flop and sold less than 300 copies.

Pretty ok song but the we are the fallen material is way better
wow they made a vevo for this?

WTF Carly? LOL! Well her eyes look pretty anyway.
um...this is certainly different from "bury me alive"
Not only in style but also her vocals. I am fairly certain that she was trying to mimic Amy with WATF.

Michael Slass oh God I would really like to watch that.
Yea it was on Nickelodeon, it’s here on RUclips if you search Nickelodeon commercial break 2001. You’ll find it towards the middle of the video.
