Biggest difference for me is only captain speaks to the ref and is done in a highly respectful manner, one key thing football needs to adopt remove swapping the ref and speak with respect referring to him as sir
Nah having played rugby it’s really weird having to call the ref sir - often awful refs are so protected by the “respect” thing.
Also very different sports, rugby rules are a lot more black and white than football, so there’s more room for error.

If the referees wore microphones that the broadcast/fans could listen to, the verbal to the ref would stop instantly. The club would stamp that out before the sponsors pull the money

I remember sitting in front of Ellis Genge at a Tigers game many years ago. He didn’t play much and I wasn’t sure who he was until I looked him up. Turned into a quality player for us 🐯

Rugby players tend to be more down to Earth because they get paid a fraction of an amount that most footballers get paid. I wouldn’t be surprised if ronaldos current yearly salary can pay for almost every team salary in United Rugby Championship
I think most footballers are generally down to earth, it's just the vocal minority who aren't that get all the attention.

Football is so intertwined with mouthing off.... Its a large part of the sport.... You would have a bloodbath of red cards in order to make a change.... You'd get months/years of weird matches with 7 players sent off.... Its too risky for the sponsors....

This is meant in no disrespectful way but rugby is a very complicated game compared to football, a captain has to make certain decisions mid game that genuinely effect the score board where it can win or lose a game, you wont get that in football. Also with rugby being a true contact sport you cant have a weak man control those men you have to genuinely have their respect and demand their respect. Big difference controlling football lads and 18 stone lunatics.
@@mindfullness1987 multiple different facets to the sport hence you have to learn the multiple rules and tactics before you could play. I can explain to a 4 year old how to play football in 60 seconds. Also just look at the intellectual standards of both sports players in post game interviews haha says it all.
