Thanks for the comment, it's an Ava-Matic AV75, made in UK, had it nearly 20 years, all my machines/tools have been acquired over many years and some of them are even older than me!
How did you determine how to set your height for the cut line? I have to do this the hard way....sneaking up on them. I would love to know your method for the pen placement.
I just set the pen about 3/16" above the tube, it's not really that critical as any final sizing is fettled on the belt sander. I usually aim for a 1/4" gap between the tubes before welding. Thanks for the comment 👍
Thanks for the comment, the length isn't really important, but the angle should be around 7 degrees and this will determine the length, obviously depends on the size of the collector outlet and desired tailpipe size, this one goes from 2.25" to 2.5". 👍
Not sure what you mean about a "pinch point", I don't see the need for any formula's, if you're going from 2.25" to 3" at 7 degrees, your cone will be approx 5 3/4" long, you can just draw it out on paper to check your dimensions, hope this helps.👍
Love watching you work. It's incredibly relaxing seeing bits of pipe and plate become works of art in your workshop.
Glad you enjoy it! 👍

Nice work!! How to you workout the length of the cone? Looking at making one of these myself

@@LANCETHEGASS thanks. I will be going 2.25" into 3". Is there a formula or something to work out the "pinch point" of the merge??

Why did you use filler rod on the main part but fusion weld the outlet ?
