Took me about 8 re-views so see it, but you're correct he pulls his whole body down through the board which has a cutout covered in some sort of soft rubber in it. Actually a great trick even though you know the secret!
There's a bit of wood behind the lock bit that stops the blade before it reaches his neck, he pushed his head through a gap in the neck hole, and there's a bit of silver cardboard above his neck that drops down when he moves his head down to look like the blade. (Weird i was watching this on Magic's biggest secrets revealed on tv this morning lolol) Thumbs up so people can see!
