Well done mate. Very thorough rundown of the game. Useful insights and illustrative of the components. Really captures a sense of what the game is like very well. Keep the reviews coming.
One of the best SoB overviews I have watched. You nailed it, there are many things to complain about with SoB. But in the end it's the one game in my collection I continue to play and invest in - not boring and fun!
Yeah thats what i started doing too. Makes it much easier to manage. I also heavily curate enemy decks to keep otherworlds unique. Im working on a campaign system at the minute to turn each otherworld into its own little multigame expedition.
@@Shatterdicegaming Yes - I run a campaign. In the Wild West, the only other worlds I run to begin with are Targa, then after about 8 missions, the Swamps of Jargono. In the enemy decks, I have only two permanent enemies added (Custodians of Targa and Bandits). Then every mission I have a 'guest enemy' from an enemy pack, its threat card shuffled into the top two so it will make an appearance. I plan to run the Mission expansions (Werewolves, Vampires, Lost Army) in a sequence and also at some point will work in Cynder, Derelict Space Ship, Treddara etc, Then I plan I running a Forbidden Fortress campaign, but the Japanese Hereos will be incarnations of the Wild West Heroes whose souls have migrated thanks to some weird dark stone effect. One awesome campaign and I haven't even got the Valhalla and Valley of the Serpents yet.
I own Forbidden Fortress, unfortunately. Most disappointing game I have bought. My issue is the lack of meaningful decisions. Other than deciding when to use a grit or ability token, there is no agency. This is similar to your issue with randomness. For reference, my favorite games are Too Many Bones, Mage Knight, Marvel Champions, and Arkham LCG's.
@@davidt4233 yeah thats a fair issue with the game. Brimstone is a bit more like an on rails shooter game. I suppose enjoyment of the game, for me at least, comes from all the loot and the little srories that develop through the encounter cards.

@@DVCBear thanks. It proves a good theme can go a long way to make up for mechanics.
The way I mitigate the creep of new rules such as lava - radiation spaces is to stick to one expansion at a time rather than hopping about.

Okay, but where did you get those token cases?
The big square ones? Theres a uk based shop called The Range. They get lots of stuff in like that.
3 pieces of feedback
