You are a saint! I really had no desire to reach 100% because I had no desire to figure out the recipes. Your guide was straight forward and easy to follow. Thank you, Austin! :)
Thank you so much! I’m currently going for 100% and I’m so happy that I’ve got a good guide on this. Yes I could’ve looked up some stuff online but these videos from Austin John are so much more helpful because there’s actual demonstrations and simple lists of all required ingredients
Let get this clear Austin John is not a pokemon RUclipsr. He is a Nintendo RUclipsr so if he ever plays any game other than pokemon and you are piss and unsub I think your the one missing out on this amazing content
Honestly, I thought he was a Poketuber at first and I was cool with that. It's how I discovered his channel. But finding out he is actually a lifelong diehard Nintendo fan definitely raised my opinion of him even more. And absolutely loving these videos as I play through.
Thank goodness I found a video of someone who put "efficiency" and "no back-tracking" into the entire planning process. You've earned yourself a new subscriber @AustinJohnPlays - thank you for making this video!
Easily the biggest obstacle for me at the beginning was the lack of storage space. I had to part with some decent items just to make some room. Thank you so much for the guide though! A step by step guide like this is _exactly_ what I was looking for.
I noticed you said for quite a few of the items you’d have to zone out for them to respawn, but for anyone collecting these items, you don’t always have to completely zone out. If you just go to different room next to the room you were in, it’ll respawn and save you time.
You really only need to buy _one_ Fresh Pasta, use it to make Spaghetti, then combine that with a Turtley Leaf for Koopasta, add Hot Sauce for Spicy Pasta, and finally Inky Sauce to turn your mangled dish into Ink Pasta. It only works in this order, you can't just keep changing your pasta types around all willy-nilly... at least I couldn't. It might be one of those 50/50 things, but this way definitely works. I'm not sure on profit though?
Your videos are easily the only ones with voiceover that I don't find annoying. I could say a lot more that's positive but the fact you're not annoying is what I find a most-elusive trait on RUclips tutorials 😂
I appreciate this video. This is the most straightforward guide of completing recipes for this game out there and is the first time I ever 100% it (100% PM and SPM, but not ttyd). After playing this, I remembered I need to finish my cooking for Zelda TotK
Love the video! Recipe guides are always extremely helpful! Quick note, when you mentioned getting the Turtley Leaves & Horsetails, you don't have to dezone & go to a completely different area for them to respawn. Just leave the current screen, like going left into the first Petalburg screen & then go back. This works for all foragables & respawning items(except Mystic Eggs, weirdly enough)
I really appreciate your guides for this game and Mario RPG. I wish you got more views but I feel that these guides will be used for many years to come
This was the only video that I need to 100% the game but I went back and watched your play through to see if you approached the game differently than I do and you didn’t. Been a fan of yours for years now and while I never need your walkthroughs I do enjoy what you do for the gaming community. Your Franchesca voice had me dying. It reminded me of Jenny Slate’s Mona Lisa character from Parks and Recreation. The entire time I kept hearing “Money Please” in my head while you were doing the voice. Lol. Keep up the good work.
I'm a gamer and grown man, i understand that if you know/love this game, you'll power through it, but i know THESE kind of video are needed cuz it requires SO MUCH looking up that a guide just makes everyone's life easier, so i'm happy one of them was truly useful for you! and the money please line is one i love throwing around joking in my daily life. lol
I’m a gamer and grown man as well. I’m pretty sure we’re around the same age and from the same generation. Lol. I understand how you feel. I’m a TO and content creator for the FGC so making guides and showing tech for games is nothing new to me. Right now I’m working on making videos for people that may want help with Elden Ring before the DLC comes out later this month. It’s funny that you quote that in your daily life because I quote the “Don’t be suspicious” line from the funeral scene daily. I think it’s a deleted scene though and didn’t make it in the actual episode or was cut because of how long Jenny Slate and Ben Schwartz improved during it. Lol
This video is such a godsend. I didn't know cooking the ultra mushroom and jamin jelly would be so op, but makes sense. Will be cooking up a bunch since I haven't played in the pit yet lol
Great video! One trick I want to point out is that a lot of items can be turned into a different item by combining them with a Point Swap. The most notable example is turning Ultra Shrooms into Jammin’ Jellies and vice versa. This saved me a lot of money on the last part since I had 7 Ultra Shrooms, but only 2 Jammin’ Jellies.
12:00 (oh, I’d also like to add something. An easier way to get the trial stew is to cook a thunder rage and a thunder bolt, I learned that the other day, it saves SO much more time)
Love your guides. I’ve never been able to make tons of recipes from the GameCube era. So this is fantastic, Also, as a side note, your Tears of the Kingdom guides saved my butt. Keep it up man!
You can do all the pasta recipes with 1 Fresh Pasta. Fresh Pasta into Spaghetti, Spaghetti with Turtley Leaf for a Koopasta, Koopasta with Hot Sauce for Spicy Pasta then finally that Spicy Pasta with Inky Sauce for Ink Pasta. So you didnt have to burn 200 coins for them.
Hi Austin! Thank you for this video! Just commenting because I'm actively following along now and have a correction - I didn't need to completely reload the area for the golden leaf! I just took the door back into the room with the moving staircase and went back out to hit the tree and another leaf fell! Hopefully that helps anyone who hates zoning in and out lol
Hey, thanks John, you really did help me 100% the game with your guides, and it really sucks that you lost so many subs, even though this game is amazing. For one more time, thanks.
You really only need to buy 1 fresh pasta. You can easily make the Zess special by mixing a slow shroom with an ultra shroom from either the trouble center request from plenn T. or one you pick up in the palace of shadows. The spaghetti chain is done by making spaghetti using only a fresh pasta, mix it with a turtly leaf, mix the koopasta with a hot sauce, make an inky sauce and mix it with the spicy pasta, done.
I love cooking in paper Mario, it’s one of my favorite side features, this guide really helps, as unlike super it’s real unclear how to get some of the ingredients needed
Not sure what is causing people to leave. These videos are so well put together and very organized. Keep up the good work. I see your videos frequently l, but it's only now I realized I didn't sub. Changed that today
Also a note about Charilton, unless they changed it in the remake, which is possible, but I haven't seen it yet since I'm starting Chapter 6,is that he doesn't restock after you buy everything in Rougeport Plaza. So you can buy the Ultra Shroom & Jammin Jelly from him but afterwards that's it. Your best bet for reliably getting them is to save up Piantas & get them from the parlor.

trial stew can prove incredibly useful. put you in peril (1 hp) upon consumming. equipe yourself with power bounce and lots of mega rush/power rush. then, you'll kill bonetail in turn one. if you have spare bp, simply use power plus, p-up d-down and jump man. still have bp left? use them for close call badges, lucky day and lucky day, in case you fail the action command with power bounces and also the super guard.

While watching this video, I took the liberty of keeping track of the total amounts of each item needed. I personally want to collect and store these items as I play the game naturally instead of backtracking for them; having the amount of Keel mangos needed in mind as I enter chapter 5 feels really useful so I hope this helps someone else. Thank you as always @AustinJohnPlays for doing the legwork and helping make this process as easy as possible. These totals assume you haven't made a single recipe yet.
