Definitely your best video yet,and what a cast !!! British countryside mostly is deserted of anyone else, and there really is plenty to see if you know where to look, and have a bit of patience. That male Hobby was an absolute beauty, and as you know I’m really spoilt for my local breeding pair of hobbies, but I’ve never seen such a handsome specimen 😍😍😍. Keep up the great work Rich, you really are 5he best out there👌
Wow, great complement and one of the nicest comments I've had since I've started on RUclips my friend so thanks ever so much! Certainly brings a smile to my face when you enjoy it, means its always worth doing even if you get the negative sides to the RUclips game! Yeah, you really are spoilt for the Hobbies, they are so handsome indeed! Thanks again, you've made my day! Rich 🙏😊👍
@@nickbirchett3508 thanks dad, it was a great day and nice to get out on a new bit of ground. Can’t beat the beautiful English countryside can you! Cheers M 👍
Great to watch . Ya love those moments in nature ,when you get a surprise like that brilliant to see the Hobby !!! Like you say it’s more the behaviour & knowledge of your subject , than getting that shot !! Enjoyed every second 👍👍
Thanks Craig, always love it when you get treated to a surprise subject! I just love seeing the behaviour in species whether its Mammals or Birds they all need appreciating and study. Rich 👍
Thanks very much for watching, yeah most of the time it’s about the experience over any image! Although it’s great to be able to nail a few shots that you are happy with from time to time. Cheers Rich👍
What a day, fantastic. Always good observing behaviour. Nature at its best, brilliant. I haven’t seen a hobby for years, what a treat. Safe travels, all the best. 👍📷😎
Glad you enjoyed it Rob, bit of an off the cuff video but great just to grab the camera and head out to see what beautiful nature you can find! Yeah the hobby was a real treat, and such a stunning bird, wish I could have nailed some flight shots but there we go, just pleased to have seen it. Thanks buddy, appreciate it💪🏻👍
Thanks Jon, not bad considering the rubbish light and it's just more about telling the story for me on the RUclips videos, but sometimes like the Peregrines in last weeks video it all comes together. My pleasure, have a great week. Rich
Brillant stuff! Saw my first Hobbies last summer - couldn't believe how agile they are. Anything that can pick off a dragonfly mid-air has got to be pretty nimble! Glad you had such a fantastic day :)
Thanks Mike, I know they are truly amazing birds in the air and on the ground with that colour and markings make them such a striking bird! Yeah, plus they feed on Swallows, Martins and Swifts and lets face it they are pretty nippy! I did thanks, cheers to watching. Rich 👍
Lovely vlog. The Hobby is such a beautiful bird never seen one myself so good to get an idea of what it’s like. Will look forward to more from the wild life in Canada.x🥰
Thanks Mum, it really is a cracker hence my excitement in seeing one as it was ages ago I last saw one. Lots more coming soon all being well, gives you a taste of the area when you come and visit. xx
Hi Rich, another great film, what a stunning area that is 😎 never seen a Hobby in the flesh myself, they look stunning birds indeed. Really enjoyed everything about the film, and as you say it's about being out there amongst wildlife and enjoying it. 👍 See you on the next one Mate 😎😎
Thanks Lee, it was a nice spot for sure and I am convinced an Owls, Little or Barn will be around its just I wasn't lucky this time, but the Hobby was a real treat for me! Really glad you enjoyed it, lots of talking from me but it is a live vlog with lots of head swivelling and excitement but thats the way I roll, lol.. It is the real reason I love doing what I do, just being out in Nature is the true gift! R👍
Thank you for sharing this great experience. Nice to see how you work. Love your shots of the Hobby. I had never heard of one of those before. Lovely spending time in those grasslands, I'm sure. I really enjoyed your video and look forward to your next one. Cheers.
Thanks Phil, my pleasure it was lovely to try somewhere quite new! And the Hobby was a big bonus, I was only looking in my Birds of Prey North America if there is a Falcon like the Hobby that takes Dragonflies etc! They also take Martins, Swallows and even Swifts if they can catch them! Think the nearest is a Merlin, and they are fast! Thanks again Rich 👍
Thanks very much, it was great to see the Kestrels but the Icing on the cake was certainly the Hobby, such a fantastic bird to see and a total surprise. Fingers crossed you get the chance, once seen unlikely forgotten. All the best Rich 👍
Thanks very much Mark, it really is if you've the patience and its great to sit and chill and take it all in! If something comes along, massive bonus! Thanks for watching. Rich 👍
I love a Hobby, great to see you out doing your stuff. Some days are just magic. Look forward to more Canadian birds but I do enjoy our birds here in the UK.
Thanks for watching Mel, they are such great birds and so amazing on the wing! Glad you've time for the Canadian ones, but I appreciate ones from home are always more to the UK viewers taste. Cheers and have a good week. R👍
Thanks Steve, would have been nice for a couple of in flight shots but I'm just happy to have seen it! Yeah those catching dragonfly shots are special if you can get them, lol.. Well done mate! I've had a couple over the years. Cheers Rich 😀
Thanks Julie, always excited to be out in nature and to see the hobby was a total surprise! Such a stunning bird. Thanks for coming along and for watching. All the best Rich 🙏👍
Wow Richard that was truly amazing fantastic place to go, love seeing the Kestrel’s it’s good to be able to go a new area , wow never seen a Hobby before on my wish list,we went out for an evening drive came across a new area and saw male & female Marsh Harriers we will be visiting that area again , absolutely amazing video Richard thank you for sharing it with us. Martyn
Glad you enjoyed it and its always nice to find a new location for some photography and you really never can tell what will turn up! It's a special bird and not resident in the UK on a summer visitor to breed, amazing to watch hunting. Awesome on the MH, sounds like a breeding pair you've found, enjoy them and best of luck with the pictures. Cheers R👍
Top day in the Fields of Gold you could say ( got a friend who looks a little like Sting 🐝 ) Richard your head needed to be on a swivel to keep track of your surroundings. You had a lot of ground to cover, another great video and good to see a grown man full of energy and excitement 👍
Cheers mate, LOL!!! I always look forward to your comments as they always make me smile or laugh!! I was a bit all over the place but they were keeping me on my toes for sure. Always excited in Nature.. Cheers R👍
Cracking stuff mate! That Pied Flycatcher is a bird on my list, as are the Hobbies - decent shots of them at least. Plenty of them around my patch, I just don’t get near them - one day 🤞 It’s fantastic when you just ‘go with the flow’ (my standard approach, I don’t ‘expect’ or set myself targets) & end up having a great time of things. I’ve said it before, but I do believe you ‘earn’ a red letter day every now & then from nature & this was one of yours. Well deserved mate, a great watch. Thanks for sharing. As always, keep on keeping on bud! Best, Nick
Thanks Nick, the Pied Fly and the Hobby are such classy birds and very photogenic. The condition of their plumage is amazing, the hobby isn't always easy in flight due to their rapid nature but still a pleasure to see and photograph regardless of the outcome. Yeah, just out with your thoughts and you camera of choice and see what you can get, sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't but as you well know, when it does, it's magical! Cheers mate, I love seeing the red icon on your comment saying you've followed publicly for 4 years or more, thanks a great support. 🙏
@@RichardBirchett I never knew such a thing as a red icon existed on RUclips, but there you go now I know! 🤗 I’ve had distant hobbies hawking at height, but nothing decent as yet. As for Pied Flycatcher I don’t think there’s many/any recorded in Suffolk that I have heard of. Like you said, & we’ve both said before it’s not always about the photographs; it’s so much more than that. Time outdoors is never wasted. All the best mate, Nick
