And won’t be surprised if this outlives any of the cars in your garage. That thing is great. Can’t believe someone didn’t get the fuses checked. A little bit of work and it'll be a nice car other than the hail damage but in Oklahoma I'd be a nice second car to go to work and stuff in the summer so if it does have a hail damage anymore ain't going to kill it. When you order the back glass, be sure to order a pack of the Honda clips for that chrome trim piece. The OEM ones will be powdery and brittle by now. If you can't find them from Honda directly I believe Precision Auto Glass Parts makes aftermarkets.
I was an auto glass tech for 5 years. With old Hondas, broken clips are a thing, but it saves those mouldings (hard to find undamaged).
Otherwise congrats on a sick deal! I paid $900 for my 89 Prelude 2.0 Si manual and I'm learning how cool owning a Honda can be. I grew up with Nissans so it's a bit of a departure for me: my current daily is an 01 Xterra 2.4L manual I rescued from a towyard for $550.
This is my kind of channel, keep us posted!

The alternator or its regulator has very likely failed, it looks like the charging voltage is way too high and is having spikes, and the battery/alternator light flickering is also telling its having problems. That light will never come on because a dead/bad battery on vehicles this old, it's purely an alternator warning light. If I saw correctly the Noco was showing over 16 volts when the headlights weren't on, and it might get even higher at higher RPMs. The engine dying when you turned off the headlights was probably caused by an extreme voltage spike, it could also be influencing with the engine electronics and causing the poor running generally. This might also have something to do with the dead radio and blown fuses..

Man my 1990 honda accord had this weird relay that worked for the cooling fan and also the power windows and for some reason the relay for the fan would click repeatedly and turn the fan on and off and drain the battery out of no where, so I switched the relays between the two and they worked fine in the power window but either one would do the same thing with the fan, the relay was like 100 bucks and I couldn't find any relays or replacements at the junk yard to test if both were just, bad but working when you hit the window button. Still don't ever know what it was ended up selling after a fender bender but still ran great at 258k

Man, this really makes me miss my old 1986 Honda Prelude Si. It was an A20A with PGM-FI, the first year for fuel injection. I bought it off of the second owner, who bought it from Car N Driver magazine as it was their test car for 1986. I took it to a bodyshop and had it fully worked over for any rust and had it repainted the factory red and it was beautiful. I put some nice period correct wheels on it with some low profile tires and I also put a full Sony stereo system with Sony amps and Orion Cobalt subwoofers in it. The A20A isn't a very powerful engine, but I got my old Prelude up to 130 with it with a custom made cold air intake and a 2.5" exhaust that I had made for it with a Magnaflow muffler. It sounded decent, but it was extremely underpowered. I bought a H22A to swap into it, but this was back in 2000, and aftermarket support was nil back then for the 1986 model...

That is absolutely a cool car. Even with the color, it's just classy.

My father bought one new in 1984. I sold it in 94 a year after he passed. Well over 200,000 miles and it never ever missed a beat. Only thing I had to change after 10 years was the carburettor. I was easily getting 46 miles per gallon on the highway-( British gallons). Lovely stick shift and very nippy as it’s a light car so despite having less than 100 hp it could move.

Randy! Great content as always! 💪💯💯👌🇺🇸 despite things going on in life, you still make our day with content that has us smiling! By the way if you or anyone wants to chime in on some advice for me, I am looking at a 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac with a SOHC 4.0 V6 with 130k miles, well maintained but I never had a ford and was wondering if it’s a good vehicle. Some say stay away from the V6 and get the 4.6 V8 and some say the opposite. I’m hoping someone can tell me if they had experience with Ford Sport Tracs, especially a 4.0 V6 SOHC AWD 🤷‍♂️🙏🙏🙏🙏🤔

Ask if they ever replaced the timing chains, there's two , one in the back... the camshaft timing chain tensioners and the timing chain guide cassettes. When you turn the key if it rattles for just a second when it cranks they are probably in need of a new tensioners at least. If it rattles after it starts it needs the guides replaced imo. It's a good engine if maintained but the tensioner, guides and chain replacement is a lengthy job and expensive if having a shop repair it. I have a 2005 with 230k and it just started a slight rattle upon starting so i'm gonna replace the tensioners. I use mine for bad weather and hauling the dogs and junk, not a daily. Hauls a small trailer well though. Besides the timing chain issue not much else except hub replacement in the front on the 4wd model, the hubs wear a bit but not a terrible job. That's why people don't like the 4.0. Changing the oil regularly helps too. That said i'd only buy it if the price was great. A Ridgeline would be my first choice in that market.

It annoys me that he kept talking about the damn back window and interiror..WHAT ABOUT THE VALVE COVER AND SPARK PLUGS, OIL CHANGE, ENGINE AIR FILTER amongst other more important things...
That being said... it's definitely worth dumping about a $1000 into it...

HEY RANDY!! Guessing you frequently get offers to purchase vehicles featured on your videos, so perhaps this won’t come as a surprise. My family has had Hondas very nearly continuously since my father bought our first Civic CVCC in 1975. Over the years my mother owned a 78 Accord HB, 79 Civic CVCC, 81 Civic 1300DX HB, 86 Accord LXi 4dr, 92 Civic LX 4dr, 96 Integra LS 4dr, 2008 Pilot, 2012 Pilot, 2016 CRV EX-L, 2018 CRV EX, and 2020 CRV LX. Personally, I’ve owned a 79 Civic 1500 Wagon, 83 Civic Wagon, 91 Civic LX 4dr, 92 Integra LS HB, as well as the same 96 Integra from above that I bought off my mom.
As you can clearly see, I’ve got a long and varied history with Honda/Acura products. I’ve always done all my own repairs from timing belts to clutches as well as brakes, struts, you name it. That Accord is beautiful and I’m certain the paint could even be brought around. I would love the chance to restore and own that vehicle. I have no intention of passing it on…it would remain in my possession indefinitely. If interested in selling, please feel free to contact me via email at flightpath@netzero.com.

My mom had an '81 Accord hatchback-it "purred" with just over 100K miles on when her boyfriend front end destroyed in an accident, then, drove it to the house all smashed in! Fixed it at a shop, but, it NEVER drove the same again! I tell you from experience, trailer that car! A cop won't hesitate to pull you over and, his ticket book will be smokin' from all the tickets he'll be writing you.
    1.) No rear window.
    2.) No insurance.
    3.) No plates.
Then he'll laugh in your face as he has it towed to the impound lot, leaving your GLUTEUS MAXIMUS standing on the side of the road-in your own dust.
Don't chance that motor breaking down dead, just for your cheap thrills!😵😱.
I'd like to see that Honda Accord restored to fully functioning order!🤓 Doug

VERY nice. A few years back, I picked up a non-running 1985 Toyota Cressida for only $200 with a popped fusible link. Clean body, runs like a dream now.
EDIT: I say drive it. Hondas from the 80s are bulletproof.

Great find! I am a Honda enthusiast and have owned 8 Hondas beginning in 1986. I hope you will continue with this video and I would love to see the car once you have cleaned it up.

YES, want to see the trip. And I huess All depends on how expensive the glass is. Not many of those around even in junkyards? And if you drive slow, at 55, that thing will proabably use only 2 gallons. MPG report would be fun too.
▪︎EDIT. SORRY I was thinking the Civic got like 40mpg.

I owned one in 1987, made for Saudi market. Drove her back from S. Arabia to UK via Iraq, Turkey, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Italy, France and finally UK. She didn't skip a beat. The best car I ever owned. Same colour as yours but different spec.

The PROBLEM is the stock CARB SPACER that is aluminum covered with rubber. Remove the rubber skin scrub off the corrosion, and apply the brush on aviation gasket. It will purr. Oh yeah the valve cover gasket, clean that area, replace the gasket, and you will have a jewel.

6:23 HA, now there's an oil change sticker that i'm INTIMATELY familiar with; look like the last oil change that Accord got was the Pit Crew; which is walmart's cheapest oil change at $22.88, and where we do the bare minimum of just change the oil and filter, and check the battery health and tire pressures.
EDIT: 7:28 the fuse box Diagram is printed ON TOP of the lid; its just too dirty to read!

WOW!!!!! WOW!!!! What a beauty. These years Hondas were tanks. I had one like this. Was grey. 5 speed, my first car. Sadly in Ontario, Canada. rust killed it before the engine was even close to dead. My father bought it new in late 84 when they came out. Only cleanest example I've seen since is at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI. Fix this car. It's a very easy to fix car. The miles is nothing. It will last a very, very long time when taken care of properly. Mine has over 400.000 kms when sold it. It's a time machine to me. Lots of memories with that car. Thanks.

I had a 1982 Honda Accord 4 door sedan - bought it new. It was a great car and was actually fun to drive. Sold it with over 200K on the odometer. The car had zero problems over the 10 years that I owned it.

I had an 82 Accord as well, however it was the coupe Hatchback model. I bought back in the late 90’s, I had it for around 3 to 4 months. It drove well and was fuel efficient for a carburetor car. I sold it to a former coworker who wanted it since the day I bought it.
