Reptile spray is amazing stuff. I started using it because you recommended it and it's been great. I treat all my new snakes and spray about once a month just as a prevention. It's about $75 a gallon right now though. It's a desiccant so it dries the mites out but dries out the snakes skin as well.

Nice coverage. Thanks for sharing your experience and the good disclaimers. Dawn works great. I do 15 minutes in Luke warm, then another 20 minutes in dawn soapy water, then add a coat of olive oil (canola and coconut oil is also recommended) to my snake all over its body, and then repeat this every 2-3 days. The oil is supposed to suffocate whatever remains on the body, and the repetitions make sure to get the ones that were in egg form later, or the ones that just didn’t get caught the first time. For me, The first treatment got rid of almost all the mites. The dawn water was littered with their dead bodies 😈! I don’t see them anymore but am continuing the treatment for at least 2-3 weeks. I'm not very comfortable with the use of the anti arachnid strip, I don't generally like using more pesticides than absolutely necessary primarily because arachnids are important in and around the home and even if you intend it to only be used in one room the compound will likely diffuse, and are often very slow to break down
On the back of the pest strip it says it's extremely harmful to people and "regular" pets. It's only supposed to be used in addics and garages technically. I had fruit flies in my dubia roach colony. Its hard to trust it as first because you don’t want to leave the snake in water for that long but it’s necessary to break the mite lifecycle.
