She was probably nervous because this skit sucked and she knew it. Seriously, SNL has done a lot of good comedy, but sometimes, they flop big time with their writing. And she knew this wasn't good writing. I'd be nervous, too, if I was given such slop for a performance. In fact, she probably wasn't nervous, but instead, embarrassed.

She was a two time Olympic medalist. Most professional skaters go their entire careers without even being selected for an Olympic team, yet alone winning TWO medals. She also had every chance of getting gold had she not been attacked and had to lose a chunk of training time right beforehand.
She continued skating and winning competitively for years, and then went on commercial skating tours for many, many years after that. I followed her as a child before and after her attack- it had nothing to do with her following. She had a massive fan base before it.

Mario Miranda, because Lorne Michaels is a really big stickler about everything with the show, especially the monologues (example: the Martin Lawrence issue was mentioned in this sketch. When he hosted before, he went off the planned monologue and into his own tirade and caused a big problem resulting in him being banned from the show). Lorne wants everything his way and just-so, and guest hosts have to follow his rules too. She was probably required to keep to saying everything written on the queue cards regardless of her personal knowledge. You can tell in most Saturday Night Live sketches that the cast members and hosts are reading off queue cards the majority of the time, even today.

No part of this was funny. And Nancy's reading off the cue cards was so bad and stiff. Why does SNL bring on hosts who have no stage presence and no idea how to be on a show. It just makes for terrible TV.

    • @rockabye274

This segment was very funny because the questions kept coming back to Tonya Harding. The bad blood between Nancy and Tonya (and between Nancy and Oksana to a much lesser extent) dominated the national news at that time. The jokes are all funny in that context, but not so funny taken out of context in 2018.

@@joemama6144 - Yeah Tonya is a genuine infamous martyr, is lucky she didn't go to jail and is constantly getting into trouble. What a way to use her "fame" after trying to hire a hit man to take out Kerrigan's leg so she wouldn't have competition at the Olympics.

And people said this was the dark age of SNL. I guess Nancy Kerrigan was a pretty lame host, but that's what happens when you get athletes instead of actors or comedians. (Exception: Peyton Manning)

The longer blade skates are easier to breaker the side turn on roller skates you up toe to breaker on blades you turn to the he side like skies
The more blade the more resistance for more speed that requires more break
IDK if that's exactly the right answer but definitely a lot to do with the slow down ever been in a situation when the break failed well it's a fast fall
