  • Salem People Trust (SPT), a CRY project in Tamil Nadu was established in 2007, and is on a mission to empower marginalized children in the rural Dalit hamlets of Salem District. Through CRY’s support, SPT tackles tough challenges like Bonded Labour, Female Foeticide/Infanticide, and Child Labour. Their proactive programs make a real difference.
    They've successfully reduced female foeticide cases by 50% and completely eliminated infanticide in their operational areas. Moreover, SPT has sparked a positive change in how girls are perceived in Salem's hamlets, positively impacting 7,300 children.

    SALEM PEOPLE TRUST was registered under the Indian Trust act 1882 in 2007.
    The Trust was founded with the aim of addressing the fundamental issues of the most marginalised children in the rural dalit hamlets of Salem District.
    SPT has now become one of the few NGOs in the state that is working on issues like Bonded Labour, Female Foeticide/Infanticide and Child Labour with a strong preventive programmatic approach.
