My father is kala (kola) so with Shan ancestry.. Shan people are very closed to the nature, they enjoy farming life and they are very good in cultivating .. kola (pailin region) were gem workers too.. hiking on the hill and going to the mine..

The food looked so cool! I love that it's wrapped in leaves. Eco-friendly as well as cool looking. The hike looked beautiful. I love the views and the unusual trees. I also loved the shots of the locals carrying supplies. I didn't get to visit Myanmar during my travels in Asia and I have sooo many regrets! I guess I have to go back :)

It's a special place. The villagers in the valley (Shan people) were definitely super friendly. We had more difficulty interacting with the Palaung who lived on the hill side :) Thanks for watching
Do you know the city where kola people from cambodgia came from ? My father was kola, used to speak a sort of tai. And I saw his picture when he was a teenager with a clear shawl on head and dress like a Chinese top and kind of sarong. He had some religious Buddhism tattoo too. I would love to discover more about him as he passed away and was very secret like many asian men and especially father. Many thanks for your video, now I have to go visit his home place. He used to say that our core origin was people from mountain :). I m so proud of my origin, Shan people are great people knowing agriculture better than anyone. They love quiet place, family...simple life :)
I'm afraid I don't - my knowledge of Myanmar is limited to what I learned when I visited and what I've read, and there's such a complex history of immigration through Burma, which is fascinating. And from what I saw, I totally agree with you about the Shan. I really would love to go and explore Shan State and the rest of Myanmar more, but sadly with what's happening there I don't know when that will be a thing again :(

Hmmm, not actually sure what that guy was doing with the huge woven thing. The guys living on the hills (as opposed to the valleys) were different ethnicity to our guide and didn't seem so friendly so we couldn't ask. Around the fire, we were asking what life was like in the village (especially to a teenager who had joined us) and they in turn were asking about us. Can't remember the exact details now, but I recall thinking that we live very different lives!

Genuinely really miss Myanmar! Did you do the Kalaw to Inle Lake trek? The scenery here looks very similar to the trek I did. The homestay with the locals for me was one of the highlights. What did you think of the food there in Myanmar?
I was originally thinking of doing that trek, but decided to go a little further off the beaten trek so ended up with MAO in Lashio. The village we stayed in and the locals was definitely the highlight. I loved the food there, considering I'd never even heard of the cuisine before. Some of the curries are a bit heavy on the oil and salt, but someone explained that it was necessary to keep them from spoiling. Loved the street food.
The video is wonderful. I sell Shan State perilla oil in Korea, and is it okay to use the natural scenery of this video for about 5 seconds on my product page? (The atmosphere of the mountain at 31 seconds is so cool that I want to use that part.)

It's an extinct vocalno. The mountain resort and scenery are amazing. It's the best for hiking and trekking.
So, this is known as world of tribals. Do visit Naga hills of Northwestern Myanmar and Northeast India for more adventure.
