From the golden years of High fidelity music on vinyl and high bias tapes to today's era of 24 bit High Resolution Audio; I have always been a serious listener of HD music and the Sony Xperia doesn't disappoint. I owned the Sony WM-D6C Professional Walkman back in the days and it went everywhere I did and the sound quality was phenomenon. But these days for me are the Astell & Kern, Cowon or maybe FIIO High-Res Players but the cost was astronomical. Because I was in the market to replace my phone, I seriously considered the Sony Xperia 1 V (a step up near flagship) due to past experience with the Walkman and although I'm not a Photo Guru, it also excels in that category with tons of features. It's like having an Astell & Kern embedded in a phone and I'm overly satisfied with that!🤣🎵🎧☎
I remember way back in the day when Sony had a phone in conjunction with a Swedish company Erickson. It was an awesome phone. It was actually ahead of it's time. It had so many features that some of today's phones barely introduced them. It had voice recording,a step counter and other stuff. Hopefully this new model is a head of it's time too and a good deal.
my old Sony 5.0 megapixel point and shoot had a Carl zeiss lens. I swear my photos on that camera can match the quality of many photos today because of that lens.

LG messed up their phones after the V30/V35. All successive phones were tuned poorly and they gave up native dsd decoding, opting instead for pcm conversion.
@@trulyblessed5236 Certainly the componentry in the LG V50 is better than most phones on the market, especially in it's ability to drive headphones that require more power. However, it's not a perfect device of course and after the v30/v35 there were some tuning choices that were not to everyone's favor (which I was only just made aware of. Interesting stuff to know). So the statement "not good for hifi" is kind of weird because it is fantastic compared to its competition, but there is still much more to audio to expand from. I'm for one delighted that I am able to give iems and most headphones a fair shot on my smartphone without needing external hardware. It's also neat knowing that my car stereo is getting one of the best headphone jacks to give that terrible system the best possible source. My buddy plugged in an older Samsung phone of his and it made my bad speakers sound absolutely awful. So the convenience is a big deal for me. Just my opinion, wishing you all well!
Huh! LG phones, at least the G7 and newer, was no slouch in the dac/AMP department. ESS quad (four paralleled) DACs ES9218P with integrated headphone amplifier.
I have been using the LG V series phones since the V20 (V60 currently). Now that they are discontinued, I will have to move to Sony phones. There aren’t any other good options for audiophiles.
I've been lusting after this.. It is the only replacement for my LG w/Quad, which are now discontinued. I also use a Sony mirrorless when I shoot digital.
This doesn't have dedicated DACs like the LG, Asus, and some other phones do. But for people who care about audio quality, that won't matter because they'll be passing the raw digital output to a competent external DAC.

Jay, if you wanna wake up easier try the light alarmclocks from philipps. They begin with slowly cranking the light up and then birds or some other nature sound goes off. I got the one with a hole in it. It looks gorgeous and futuristic. Its not that cheap but still worth it, really. It looks good is fully customisable and has many nice feature i wont be listing here. I was like you before but now i get up so easiely. The light pre wakes you in some sort, it tells your body hey start getting back. Also do you sleep your 8h? Thats important too
Because their Walkman are at minimum the same price or more expensive as just the phone. Walkman has its niche audience but it still makes money. The phones do not and would just take money away from their Walkman line at a loss.
At this rate if you want high lossless get a dac iff your happy with cd quality which is still better than Bluetooth I hate Bluetooth I miss the quality that wired offers but true hifi lossless you want better expensive headphones like magnetic planer headphones and a proper dac and a amplifier to make it sing
I have stayed with my LG V30+ for 4 years because I loved the sound signature of the Quad DAC and my TFZ and VSonic IEMs. Now T-mobile says my phone is EOL. I think this vid helped me pick a new phone.
@@TigerGreene true, 1 year later and X1 II was $50 less than launch in US & sold out. X1 III is all out of stock or backorder. It does drop a little more in some regions, but it isn't like Samsung that drops to Xioami prices. There is the 5 III and 10 III, which the 5 is very close to 1, but smaller and better battery life. 10 is still midranger prices.

Sony has been making audiophile quality since the walkman, they are also recording and Publishing music through their Record Label since ages. So they know also the point of view from the artists, which makes Sony an a unique postion than no other company does.

I mainly used it for radio interviews, but the quality was such that I once used it to record a concert of the Canadian Brass that was used in an NPR broadcast. The root kit fiasco and the corporate lack of remorse has sadly resulted in my permanent lack of trust in the company.
Did you get to try the Asus Rog Phone 5 ? And, if yes, what do you think of it in comparison ? It has the ESS Sabre ES9280AC Pro Quad DAC. And a 2Vrms amplifier.
I was thinking of that myself. These expensive Xperias are marketed to audiophiles, but they don't have a dedicated DAC, just the one built into the Snapdragon 888 SOC. The nice thing about Sonys, though, is the expandable memory card slot.

Became a photo enthusiast thanks to Sony mirrorless system - using A7 and A6000 for full an apsc format - Canon catching up on mirrorless cameras but Sony still the king in my opinion. Currently an Apple Iphone users but Sony would be my second choice - keep up the good work

The Beatles photo was taken with ANALOG Hasselblad camera. And connecting such camera with phone camera is far fetched. But I get your point. Zeiss is top notch optic manufacturer and we all know Sony makes great photo sensors. Maaaany producents are using Sony's photo matrices and for good reason. Just check Sony's cameras image. Nikon use them too.

Zeiss licenses its name and/or technology to various other companies including Sony. The lenses for this phone are likely not coming from Germany. I remember more than two decades ago when I was doing industrial engineering that the inspection instruments for transmission gears and tooling had Zeiss lenses, but they didn't all come from Germany.

The inspection machines where I worked used many of the Zeiss lenses from Japan. Just like many of the machines on the shop floor were Japanese such as the Nachi robotics. It was an American company but it was owned by the Japanese. International manufacturing is all getting blended together in the modern era, but back in the 60's (Abby Road) not so much. I can't fault Jay too much. It's always the onus of the viewer of entertainment/marketing videos such as this to do their own research. Should he have done a little bit of further research first? Yes, probably, but I got no impression that his intent was to deceive.
I am not understanding why the reviews for the Sony Xperia 1 III camera are all over the place in regards to picture quality. Many youtube videos degrade the quality while others give it praise. Which is it? Is it due to the lack of experience of the user with a phone that may be too advance for them to use? Is the Samsung or the iPhone camera better? Many of the videos on RUclips says yes
Theres is a video by joshua valour. The issue is the amp is not as powerful as lg. But the dac is one of the best at the moment. Asus Rog gaming phone is the one which provides a powerful amp as well as a quad dac.
I bought a Sony TV, the problem with them is they are high quality, my TV is from 2006 it works fine so I gave a problem replacing a perfectly fine TV with a better one.

I think Apple has some catching up to do. What about the bluetooth? Were on the edge of lossless BT but you don't mention it. Cables are still an inconvenience when we have lossless BT. Very noticeable aspect not covered. What about operating system? I assume its Android. You just need to mention these things.

This phone is no good for audiophiles. You are better off purchasing the phone of your choice with and a decent dac separately.
Sony once made really good two channel amplifiers and audio equipment. Wish they still did.

In a few years when my LG v30+ is getting tired I'll pick one of these up cheap-ish. That's assuming it measures as well or better than my LG.

Theres is a video by joshua valour. The issue is the amp is not as powerful as lg. But the dac is one of the best at the moment. Asus Rog gaming phone is the one which provides a powerful amp as well as a quad dac.

I have used Xperia phones for years. the camera always overheats when taking video. so I hope they figured it out.
Most older android phones use to over heat and still do, some just heat more. alot has to do with the chipset or snapdragon. The best one is 865

I bought a Sony TV, the problem with them is they are high quality, my TV is from 2006 it works fine so I gave a problem replacing a perfectly fine TV with a better one.
Ironically, that's the reason Sony mobile are struggling to sell phones, their old ones just last too long

my sony tv from 2009 is still going strong. no signs of slowing down. I added a roku stick to get current smart features.

I think Apple has some catching up to do. What about the bluetooth? Were on the edge of lossless BT but you don't mention it. Cables are still an inconvenience when we have lossless BT. Very noticeable aspect not covered. What about operating system? I assume its Android. You just need to mention these things.
