I have installed 29 gates on our property. Every single one (except the electronic main gates) use these latches. 3+ years now. Awesome. Simply the best. I used a Milwaukee Oscillating Tool to sink into the wood post. Slathered with copper Nap, mounted, all solid. Perfect. They rust a bit. Upgrade the hardware and re-paint as needed. Love these things!!!! We did the same thing, putting a screw into the mystery hole. If you clamp down too tight, you'll crush the pipe on the gate. Or maybe I'm too manly :D As always, I'm having a good dang day!\
I have two 8 foot gates for a fourteen foot wide entrance. The two gates overlap about 15 inches when they are closed. What would you recommend for latching and locking the two gates in the middle?
I'm no gate guy but rather a locksmith that has fixed a whole lot of poorly installed hardware, self tapping screws are the bain of a good installation/repair, much better to drill and tap for a proper machine screw. If you install a lot of these, consider making some jigs with some hardened steel drill guide bushings.
Wow. I hated those latches because they twist. Your Genius has changed my mind. 2 simple screws will make the latches usable. I heart RUclips.... usually Thanks for the video!
For a farm gate? Sorry--no. (I'm sure this isn't what you're looking for but here's a double privacy vinyl gate: ruclips.net/video/3ypIPmPFA7Y/видео.html)
Just curious if and when you guys install 6, 7 or 8 ft tall fences for example all the farm gates out there on the market that are affordable are only 4 feet tall really so what do you do to install taller ones or to make the shorter ones taller without paying a fortune for the rot iron ones?
Goats are bad....I had one eat every connection off my trailer right after a total rewire....I was pretty hot. I charge extra to fence if the goats free range That's my favorite latch too.
I’ve used these too. Work good.
Great bloopers. This is why you're the boss.
"So that's how you do that!" Thank you for being a humble guy and keeping it real.

Love the honesty❤ thanks for the video❤ John 3:16❤
Thanks for posting great information. Looking to use same setup for residential picket fence with square tube frame and a 1 5/8 metal fence post .

Thanks, pretty straight forward. Glad to know what I’m getting myself into 👍🏼
You're welcome!
I like the oneway latches too. I use both on my farm.
Thanks for the video. Is that a galvanized post? What diameter and where do I get one? Thank you.

How do they twist? Not sure that’s possible.
How many inches is the gate from the post?
what size gap do you need between post and gate?
Put a self taping set screw in it and it won't twist
Great product and video! You guys are funny.
Thanks for watching!
Does anyone have suggestions for farm gates that overlap?
Do you have a video on how to install a latch on a dual gate?

Typically on a custom job like that we would make our own gate to accommodate the height of fence.
You guys have a good damn day 😁
What size and length are the self tapping screws? #14 1.5 inch?
That was so long ago! I'm guessing a 5/16 (#14) and yes 1.5"
Thank you for not editing out the good parts. Those are great latches.
Nice latch!
Thanks!
How much clearance do you need between gate and post to install.
I believe 2 - 2 1/2 inches.
Can Dan the man use a fan
It depends if it's part of the plan
I wonder how these are in snow & ice…
nice my former boss had these they were nice
Yeah, but how does it hold up to alpacas?
Alpacas? Pssshaw! No problem. 😂
Hard to find good help!
You should just include Hyenas as well Ha Ha!
Don’t forget the Yak’s
Ooh! The yaks! Good point! 👍🏻😄
It's okay we all make mistakes
Just say No to sloppy gates😊
Hahaha

That's my favorite latch too.
Sounds reasonable. 😄
Make gravity hinges and the gate will shut on its own....
Did you close the gate?
No! Gravity did.

Personally I can't stand those latches. There are way better weld on slam latches that don't require your hand to be in the pinch point of the gate.
To each his own. We love 'em. 👍🏻
