I enjoy watching your videos. As far as I know we are not related? My father started out welding in the Bremerton Washington ship yards (1964) Delmer C. Ross. After moving back to his home state he ran a "Ross General Repair" shop for 50+ years. Passing away in 2017 with 9 welders, always got to have one more. If it was broken he would weld it or make a new one! Most of the time my father required customers to "bring it to me". He would travel but very little. At 94 years old he repaired a lot of stuff. I am not a welder, I am a retired Auto Mechanic, I really enjoy watching your videos. Austin Ross you are doing a Great Job, Don Ross
Looks good. You may not have shown it on camera but welding a retention tab or bead on the solid catch bars would be a good idea. To keep someone from removing them.
I am a builder and I got a piece of treated lumber in my eye and it started hurting so bad I went home ended up falling asleep and when I woke up my eye was swollen as big as a baseball 🤦♂️. Had to go to the eye dr. And he Had it out in 30 seconds and it was instant relief...
Hey Austin ,Started Mig welding about 8 months ago ,then a few months ago seen one of your Videos ,Many of your Videos later ,got a stick welding machine ,I love it as much if not More then Mig , anything I weld now is with stick ,Thank you for all the videos ,I just love to weld .
Been following you and watching all your videos since day 1 man. It’s awesome to see your hustle and drive every week. Making something out of nothing and figuring it out as you go. That’s America for ya. Keep up the good work and keep the videos coming.
I learn so much watching your videos. I’m a welder now but I used to build fence for a living. A good trick for those drop rods is to drive a small piece of pipe in the ground where they will be going in at ( far enough to where it won’t catch a tire or foot) gives a nice solid hold for them
I have seen on fences the name of the company that installed the fence. You should have a little advertisment plate on this project. Again just a great looking job. Pipeline pride in your workmanship.
I’ve always just hung the down latch on crossbars when not in use. That little holder you added is quite slick. I hope you don’t mind, but I’m stealing your idea. That’s a very sharp entrance you have built. Strong work.
Thanks a bunch and keep up the great videos. I’ve been welding( mostly farm/ranch related) for over 20 years and have learned quite a bit from your videos. My son and I really enjoy them.
I've always driven pipe into the ground , flush, to receive the drop latches . When open , the ground will end up being an arched plowed furrow, as owner will put it in different places and soil will loosen allowing gate movement.
"Mmm-hmm.., I'm thoroughly pleased.." You should be. I'm 65, recently retired from pipefitting. (since 1978) 1st 15 years as an instrument fitter, so I was taught to make everything pleasing to the eye. And boy-oh-boy, your work is definitely that! Of course, being a fitter, I've got a pet peeve when it comes to weldors... Many believe that they are fitters because they've stood, watched, and worked next to fitters. That type wants to both fit and weld, while his fitter is demoted to a weldor's helper! LOL! BUT! --- You are one that really is both. Yep.., I'd happily have been your weldor's helper any time. Some have told me that I'm the best fitter they've ever seen. I know different. I've worked with some top tier weldors and fitters. I'm not even in the top 20%. I suppose those compliments came from people that haven't been around much...? Great work! (of art) I'll grant you bonus points for rounded edges and corners, (no sharp edges for livestock and people to get cut on) but especially for understanding and working with the metal contraction (draw) while working alone. Even when working with help, it's extremely hard to achieve perfect alignment. From my little screen, everything appears square, level, and Plumb-PLUMB --- not Plumb-some! LOL. You're a true Craftsman. An Old-Timey Craftsman... From a time when that title meant something. I think it's unfortunate that the general public doesn't have a clue about the level of art that can be worked into what we do. To reach your level, a man must be an artist. "Professional" doesn't even come close. "Professional" only means that you get paid for your work. It has no relationship to the quality of workmanship. (the last half of this comment is for the general public, the ones without any reference and aren't able to appreciate, or even see the beauty) Long life and God's blessings!
Your message is greatly appreciated. I am very very humbled by it. Thank you. I also want to thank you and your generation for all the blood sweat and tears (for a lack of better words) that y’all have put in over the years so the generations behind you don’t have to hurt as bad (as long as we listen to our elder’s wise words) and learn as hard of lessons and also learn them in such a sacrificial way (loss of life, ect) to accomplish what we do. I don’t take my elder’s wisdom lightly. There is no better advise than life experience. Thank you Austin
Awesome project. My eyes started running water, while you talked about protecting our eyes. My eyes eyes seem to be magnetic when it comes to stuff getting in them. I like the hanger on the gate to hold the rod, which keeps you from having to chase it when opening the gate.
@@arosswelding loves your videos. I'm a new subscriber. Do you have a video on how to notch pipe ( making the half circle cuts so the 2 pipes match up)?
Great work unbelievable craftsmanship and dedication a great credit to the industry with knowledge second to none thanks for sharing your amazing adventure with us Andy
looking great, what about some solar powered lights or LEDs behind those symbols? Or even the possibility of some other solar powered lights to light up the whole area?
Where I live. Need to weld on a topstop to prevent the slide bolt from being pulled out and removed (half inched rims with pinched [stolen ] ) and used as a weapon!
I've had grinder swarf in the eye. Woke up next day with an expanding ring of rust around it. Ironically, the rust was removed with a tiny grinder. Great vids!
If you wanted that super clean look and still have the gates stay closed maybe a cammed hinge would fit the bill. Don't know how hard something that would last would be to build though.
How come on the final run up to the main gate the bars go into a post of there own and not the main gate post or am I missing something in another video love your work
Back when I made similar "signs" I'd take some 1" flat 1/4" stock & go around all the edges with it to give a true 3-D - it goes fast & the visual effect is really good - I did some very prominent ones, seen by loads of people daily. I also quietly pity whoever has to paint all that lot ^^. That sounds like a right PITB to me. :-) But, it is certainly an impressive entrance - very robust.
You can create a much cleaner "Keep it shut & straight" latch by making an arm that locks the 2 gates together minus the ground pin btw - make it latch down on 2 horizontal members so they are tied together - bang, gates stay nicely shut & look super clean. Plus it opens/shuts mega fast when it's cold/rainy and you don't fancy dicking about with ground pins - which nobody does, tbh.. I'm honestly surprised, considering the sheer expense this client has gone to, that they didn't opt for powered open/close - then again, they went for levelled stone as the driveway - and that never lasts - maybe they're allergic to bound macadam.. no accounting for Folks "thoughts" on stuff.
Would cutting a notch out of the inside bend on the handles aid in the bending and then letting the hot metal fuse itself back together when the bend is complete?
Watched the whole build. Both very impressed and learned a lot. Thank you. But quick question: Why’d you opt not to set a section of catch tubing in the ground for both open and closed positions to receive the spikes? Would that not be cleaner than poking the gravel and dirt? (Okay. Two questions.)
I do this same thing but I drive in a receiver pipe flush with the ground for the rod to sit in. Gate can’t ever move no matter how strong the wing gets.
I’d have to set back and look at that job for a minute or two!! Like I’ve said before, that’s a cool entry! Got a question. How do you think it would look if you put a piece of sheet metal painted black behind the brand?
Another one in the books, eh Austin. Sure came out nice. You need to make a little advertisement weld on sign and start putting them on your work, c'mon 👌.

Austin is the Michael Angelo of welding like dude you nailed this project
So true. I want a cool entry like this now. Step 1. Buy ranch. Step 2: Hire Austin to build entry.
Hate to be that guy, but I think you added a space where there shouldn't have, you split his first name in two

There is one lucky customer out there.. dam that looks nice
Show them welds man that weld should be a 1 part of your showcase every video . It can be inspirational to see other people’s beads
Gates are looking very good & functional.
Your a Master welder and fabricator. Good job young man
What a beautiful project. You are truly gifted!
Another perfect job completed. I would hire Austin with no doubt that the job will be perfect. Great job Austin.
Keep killin it big dawg! Craftsmanship is top notch!

Looking great good looking gates
Great work Austin. Your reference to be "pleasing to the eye" is this project.
Thanks! And thanks for watching!

Austin, this is the best looking entrance gate I've seen. Awesome job!
Justin, you've done a danged nice job on this one! That's beautiful!
Great work unbelievable craftsmanship and dedication a great credit to the industry with knowledge second to none thanks for sharing your amazing adventure with us Andy
Really looks great Austin!! Thanks for sharing with us and taking us along . Great words of wisdom too. Fred. 🙏🏻🙏🏻👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👋👋
Great work.
Hats off Austin to another awesome project. Looking forward to the next one.
MOLECULES.... Outstanding work. Enjoy your videos (I'm not a welder) and enjoy your humor and explanations. Keep on young man.
Great job on the fence and gates.
Very nice and clean work.
nice, bu may be put a stopper at the bottom of each pin, so that it cannot be take out and lost or stolen, looks great
very good job Austin congratulations
This was a very awesome build . Thank you very much.
Great job!!!
Sucker rod is made of 4140, its a steel we blacksmiths use for hammers and punch tools. It does like to split.
looking great, what about some solar powered lights or LEDs behind those symbols? Or even the possibility of some other solar powered lights to light up the whole area?

Currently in Tulsa welding school so naturally checking out the utube looking for welding content just found your channel! good stuff! Ponca here 🤙
Congratulations friend . Very good gate .
Good job, man! God bless.
Very outstanding job 👍
You may have to put a stopper on rod so it Carnot be removed/ stolen will be making a gateway similar out of timber
Another job well done..
This project is just so awesome, adding those gate stops hidden like that just the cherry on top of the whole project again awesome job 👌
Beautiful gate !
I hear you about eyeball it happened to me good advice👍🏻
Wonderfully done Austin!
Thanks! And thanks for watching!
Nice touches
Just subscribed! Just bought an sa 200 today and was checking out some videos. Super motivating Channel!
Very nice job.
Awesome job Austin
It was awesome watching this come together man 🤙🏼

Really nice job
You just reminded me it’s Friday! Wow that week blazed by. Always looking forward to your videos. Have a great weekend!🤠
You too! Thanks for watching!
Awesome fella 👍😎
Isn't it stupid how those shorty sumner jacks cost more than the big ones.....never understood that but they're super handy....molecules cracked me up
Music selection was soothing while watching your mojo. Thanks
sounds like the same artist/guitarist that is on the Duckmen (Phil Robertson) videos..?
I hope one day to reach that similar level
Great job! As usual! 👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🙏🙏
Pretty work!
Saw you today in Cushing I believe it was. Just noticed the truck trailer and boom there east side of town
Espectacular trabajo mis saludos desde El Colorado Formosa , Argentina
Good job brother i love all you video's
Kick ass work man 💪
I make my hinges on my lathe. Nice job.👍
Man, you do clean work!
If you wanted that super clean look and still have the gates stay closed maybe a cammed hinge would fit the bill. Don't know how hard something that would last would be to build though.

I don't see any other post about it, I could hear the music but when you talk I couldn't hear you! That Gate job is awesome!! nice job!!
Attention to detail so spot on thanks for next level shares.,🖖🤙💪👍✌️🙏😊
Hey a quick question! Im building aroud 500' of straight fence, do i have to leave a lilttle space for streching or shrinking?
Nice job
Right on
Do you leave any painting to the land owner?
Very slick young man. When you coming down under we need a good man like you.?

Hey Austin, just wanted to see if you could make a video on the design process. Nothing this good comes together without a great plan.
you cant go wrong with the blues
Nice job!!!
Just curious if you guys paint the fence or just leave it to rust ? Or is the material corten steel
Would cutting a notch out of the inside bend on the handles aid in the bending and then letting the hot metal fuse itself back together when the bend is complete?

I would die for that cat. Jesus.
I knew that area looked familiar we ran down all them roads building fiber for the power company about a month ago right outside of Stillwater
I do this same thing but I drive in a receiver pipe flush with the ground for the rod to sit in. Gate can’t ever move no matter how strong the wing gets.
Smash the thumbs up before you watch it? You bet... cause I'm about to learn something new.
Could you have put some sort of stop to keep the bars from being completely lifted out,i was thinking a blob of weld two inches from the bottom
Worst moments is always metal in the eye!. I hate it!. Safety glasses prevent more then 1 out of 100 times it should actually happen!. Good video!.
I’d have to set back and look at that job for a minute or two!! Like I’ve said before, that’s a cool entry! Got a question. How do you think it would look if you put a piece of sheet metal painted black behind the brand?
Awesome fence. Can the gin pole be mounted on a stationary surface. Also can larger pipe be used?
