Nice reaction. Paulina started drum lessons when she was about 6, and has had many teachers over the years. They all have had good teachers. Several of their long time teachers still work with them and are known by fans as well. Glad to see you come back to them.

I enjoyed your reaction. The Warning is my favorite band. You mentioned the ladies look like gorgeous models. I remember a humorous comment when the Choke official music video was released. The comment was something like, "I didn't know Victoria's Secret had its own rock band."

They are awesome live because I was fortunate enough to see them in July with Halestorm and The Pretty Reckless and Lilith Czar. The energy is high and exciting. They always put on a great show.
They will be in Vancouver in November if you can make it.
Yes, there’s no doubt Dany has been working with a vocal coach(es). When this video was released many were skeptical if she could match the soaring chorus live. She does it night after night as they’ve been touring heavy since April. I’ve seen and heard it live myself six times and I think it’s even better than the OMV. If you have the opportunity to see them live, do it!
BTW, Paulina goes by Pau, pronounced like POW…what she does for a living!
Not only does Dany hit that soaring chorus live, but I have seen it up close and it is effortless for her. Dany is freaking Wonder Woman live! As are her sisters! You can't even put into words what they are like live. It's like watching fish swim or birds fly. It's what they were born to do. They make your head explode and they make it look so easy!
You are correct Randy. Dany's voice seemed to keep improving as their tour went on. You would assume the opposite. I somehow think that she had singing lessons from David Bendeth at the studio, although I can't figure out how that could have happened.

I had a guy comment to me last week on a Grand Funk video about how I saw TW as the new power trio place holder. The vid was over a year ago. He says TW’s producer is his neighbor and good friend. I said, you mean David Bendeth? He was surprised I knew his name. He said David loves TW (think we already knew that) and that because of him he’s also now a big fan.
I think she started seeing a vocal coach in the summer of 2019 because she wanted to know how to take care of her voice for the tour that was supposed to be in 2020. I think all 3 work with the coach that they found.
I believe they did a summer music program at Berkeley in Boston. When they were on the Ellen DeGeneres show as little kids she gifted them $10,000 each which I think was for the summer program.

When this song was recorded in the Fall of 2020, Dany (singing) was 20, Paulina (on drums) was 18, and Ale (on bass) was 15. It was just the three of them, playing and singing, on the entire album.
Not exactly everything, there are some bits from David, but yeah they generally play and sing everything themselves.

They were in Seattle on April 21st but the show sold out, so you would have had to get your tickets early. They will be opening for Three Days Grace in Vancouver at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on November 8th. It'll probably be a shorter set list though since they're not the main billing.
I've seen them 4 times in concert and they *rock!* If you have the chance to see them, you owe it to yourself to go. They have been touring with Halestorm andThe Pretty Reckless and Lzzy Hale came out during their set, knelt, and gave Dany a Gibson Explorer guitar. High praise!
Best power trio in the world! Period!
There's a very important difference in their live performance of the song; Ale sings the two "let me drown" lines in the breakdown rather than Dany. That's the only lead/solo that Ale normally sings (she has sung songs in concert when Dany needs a break, but it is her preference not to sing lead). It's a dramatic moment, and at non-headliner concerts it's easy to tell how many people know the band based on how much applause Ale gets at that moment. Her voice is rather different from Dany's and Pau's (their voices are different too, but Ale's singing voice, at least from those two lines, is much smokier, but interestingly she also sings high harmonies on Sinister Smiles).
Pau pronounces her name "pow", not "poh". That dates back to at least her school days; they performed at their school in 2015, and Pau went first onto stage to play an intro to Crazy Train, and their classmates were all screaming her name. You mentioned that she's not very big. She's actually very short; she says that she's 1.5m, which would work out to 4'11". Dany's only maybe 5'3" herself; Ale is a little taller at 5'7" or so, but of course she looks like a titan compared to her sisters.
It's not shown in the official video, but in the second verse when you were referring to Dany's guitar soloing while also singing, she's making very heavy use of her pedalboard to constantly change the tone. She has a lot going on there.
All three do indeed play piano. They claim that Ale is the best pianist of the three. They don't have a piano on their current tour (they likely will in Mexico City tonight and Monday night, because they will be playing the whole album and one of the songs absolutely needs keys), but Dany has played piano on one song in concert (Stalker), Ale two (The End and Survive), and Pau three (Escape The Mind, Show Me The Light, and Black Holes -- that an absolutely fascinating song).
I suggest that you listen to some other songs from this album, as they are vocally demanding:
- Martirio, their second song in Spanish. This was distinctly not my favorite on the Mayday EP (aka the first half of Error), but when I heard it live in Boston, it was enthralling. My opinion is that that's in large part because Dany's voice is already considerably more powerful in her upper register than it was in 2020, when they recorded the song. Toward the end, Dany is singing at the very top of her range, leading into a screaming guitar solo that's a continuation of her vocal line, soaring higher and higher. I don't think I'm the only TWA member who considers this to be one of their finest songs.
- Amour, the only slower song that Dany sings on Error (well, Choke isn't a very fast song). A little foray into French, no less.
- 23, Revenant, and Breathe, all of which are slow songs that Pau sings and which highlight some interesting qualities in her voice.
Having two strong lead singers in a band gives them a lot of capability that other bands lack. Nancy Wilson is IMO not the vocal equal of Pau; Pat Benatar and Joan Jett don't have additional lead singers on their bands.
Pau (pow). They are phenomenal live. They hit the stage at energy 11 and go up from there.

Pau starts writing almost all songs on the piano. This one was acually different. Dany had the riff first. But then Pau translated it to piano and wrote the melody. There are many videos of Pau bringing us back to the piano versions of The Warning's music.

Two favorite bands: The Warning and Band-Maid. Both are riding high, right now, but being "local" and singing mostly in English has got to give The Warning a huge leg up with U.S. audiences. Both are really fun bands that are keeping rock alive.

It was a shame you never made the concert in Seatle as The Warning are brilliant live. I nanaged to attend 3 shows in Texas. Also in May. I was blown away. Well worth the journey from Liverpool ,England. I hope you will check out some more soon. Try 23 and Revenant. They are two new songs with Pau (POW) singing lead. At the moment there is only lyric videos to these two songs. Also ERROR is another song I know you will appreciate.

Very nice reaction! As you say, most of their songs start with a fragment on the piano, mostly by Pau, the drummer, and all three complete the songs. I am regretting not going to see them in Seattle when they were here. I am an old short Introvert and the thought of packing into a standing room only club looking at some tall person's back scared me off ;)
I had the exact same feelings. TW played a dinky club in Phx, to which I dragged my wife and and stood outside in the Az summer heat waiting to get in. I was surprised there were more older rockers than younger. It was dirt cheap ($25) and the sound was fantastic. It was standing room only, I'm 5'7" and most of the time I couldn't see crap, but I'm glad I went. Rock on, sisters !!

The mix on this particular track is kind of subdued, in that you can't really hear Pau or Ale's backup vocals very well.
