I feel like that came from albini and Kurt's crazy lots of mics n stuff.. plus whatever reverb unit they use with that spring reverb sound is just over powering in general
@@dmvconartists1855 oh I 100% agree, I just think the way it came out in the end from Scott lit's mix didn't sound great. It was difficult source material to work with in that regard
@@dmvconartists1855 The way Nevermind was recorded elevated the songs. The songs on In Utero sounded worse than they were. Best shown during the shows where Pat S played. Nevermind and In Utero songs in a level playing field. The market decides and the market likes Nevermind more, while the songs aren't necessarily better (listening to those live shows of '94 makes that point imo). On a personal note, recording with a guy who openly expressed his p*d*philic desires is a 100% no go. Steve Albini, a horrible person with a big mouth, finally met karma after his horrid fascists remarks during the plandemic.

I like the way that Kurt's voice & guitar is brought forward and clearer in Albini's 2013 versions.
This is so interesting to hear side by side
The weird reverb on Scott Litt's mix never worked. It sounded too harsh for the song. 2013 the sounds best

It's honestly a very subtle difference.
Steves 2013 mix is better..nit much but more deep, but its difficult to compare its subtle. Rest easy Steve you're sadly missed mate.🙏🏻🎸
can you do this for their other albums please
1993 Albini´s mix drums have more punch and attack
This album should have been recorded by Butch Vig and mixed by Andy Wallace. Hands down.
Why
They just explained why they didn't do that too

Moral of the story: whoever produces the record should never mix it.
imho it sounds really good
