- NASA announced that Jeanette Epps and her crewmembers will be launching on a SpaceX flight in late February or early March.
Epps, 53, grew up on Syracuse’s South Side in a family of seven children, including her twin sister Janet. She graduated from Corcoran High School and Le Moyne College before heading to the University of Maryland, where she received a doctorate in aerospace engineering.
Epps and her crewmates of NASA SpaceX Crew 8 will be on the space station for 180 days, returning in August. She will be the second Black woman to live on the International Space Station.
