Thanks man, veteran to card games, never even attempted to learn Yugioh, and you explained the rules nicely so I know what to look out for in terms of not so clearly explained stuff
This is an excellent beginner's glossary. Linked it to my homie who's just getting into the game lately. Would love to see updated/remastered versions in the future *pushes red button*
I’ve tried to watch other videos that explains the basics of the game but couldn’t watch any of them until the end except for yours! And I can finally say that I’ve learned something lol .. time to dig more deeper and see some gameplays! Thank you!
Thank you for your lecture I haven’t played Yugioh since I was 15 and now I’m 27 and they’ve changed their rules but your lecture help me understand everything thank you again 😊
cheers bro. this is helpful. i havent played since i was a kid when this game first come out and looking at it all now it seems a hell of a lot more advanced and more complicated so this rrefresher helped alot . i subscribed cos of it
I used to watch yugioh it was my first anime but now I’m older I have forgotten how to play. My deck was made up of all the monsters I thought were coolest at 7 so it’s pretty useless but I keep it just for memories. Gonna get back into it this and next year now
Hey Sam, I just wanted to say thanks. I'm just getting into YGO and this helped relieve a lot of the overwhelming sensation I was getting from just the rules alone.
I would love to see new rules that say you need I.E. 8 traps and 8 spells minimum in your deck. Now days the matches are usually who manages to special summon his/her best cards and jsut wreck enemy XD This would possibly bring some more strategy and thinking in the game :O
Absolutely helpful and easy to follow! If you ever just want to brush up on knowledge, want a better understanding, or want to introduce a new duelist to the game, THIS is the video to share! 🤙🏽😎🌊🌋🏝️🗿
Great video bro, just what I was looking for! As a long time MTG player I became curious about Yugioh and am a bit overwhelmed hahaha so thanks for the full breakdown and great explanations, Ill come back to this video many times Im sure. Sub up to support the lesser known RUclips channels!
Thank you for this awesome video I’m 32 now I use to play a lot when I was 13-17 Brings back memories . Now I’m older and I have the resources to get back into it and build a great deck. This was enjoyable to watch.. you REFRESHED MY MEMORY. Into the competitive video you made. Question. Is grapha still a viable deck.? I loved that build..
Glad it could help! And I assume you mean Grapha as in Dark World Grapha, and yes, they got a new structure deck that supported the old Dark World cards
Only ever played one game in my life where my friend built my deck for me and he built an awesome deck to just kick my butt. Did not have fun. This really helped me feel like the game might actually be fun despite what felt like a huge barrier to learning!
can confirm on the "do not buy sealed product" thing tried buying soulburning packs to build a battlin' boxers deck and I've spent about as much money as it would take to just buy singles and I don't even have half of the deck yet
My kid's in grade 4 learning math and English. I figured I'd get him into this game to help motivate the reading and math. It looks way more complicated than it used to be. I think I might sort through the deck and simplify it to old rules lol. The simplicity is what made the game good, imo.
I totally get that - theres a lot of new things added into the game now than there were before. You can try playing with some friends casually first to slowly get accustomed
Thank you so much Sam for explaining the rules of the game in simple terms it really helps a lot, I hope people will be more willing to play the game with me now that I know how to play instead of calling quits after second duel because of sucking so badly, thank you :)
This should go over cards that are in current meta like Gold Pride, Kashtira, Jerry Beans Man, and Pot of Generosity. I would like to have tutorials on these specific arcetypes since they are what we go against in real life scenerios. Also explaining the effects of each of the dragonrulers so we know how to counter things like that, and how many celtic guardian should be in side deck. Thanks for listening to feedback
The traptrix one for sure! It comes with great staples, is easy to understand, and you really only need 3 structure decks to do well at your first tournament
I would argue that for the current format you can't do much better than three structure decks of Albaz strike. It has the Despia archetype which is currently a top 10 deck in the game.
Sorry for not making it clearer - tuners are special monsters used for synchro summoning (but can also be used as material for other summons too). You'll notice synchro monsters have "1 tuner monster" in their summoning requirement, so you'll need to send a tuner and a non tuner whose total level equals the synchro monster's in order to synchro summon it.
I went into my 1st games with a friend as an experienced MTG player but with zero Yu Gi Oh knowledge and I managed to grasp core concepts and even won a few games. That said, I was frustrated that I didn't understand the turn order, Links etc. You filled in the gaps without dwelling on one topic and made my second session much smoother. I also tried decks with Time Wizard and XYZ cards after seeing it in the tutorial 👍 Like in Magic, I suppose understanding the basic rules and turns is one thing, then learning the strategies and meta is another. Seems the decks my friend plays are tribal (Ancient Warriors, Mechanica etc) and I played a control deck which successfully decked my opponent. Are there any good vids that give an overview of the main strategies and archetypes?
If I use the card the melody of awakening dragon and I get blue eyes white dragon in my hand do I still need to tribute two cards to summon in the field,?
And maybe more cuz I did four-player battles three-player battles I did a battle royale with six so you can have too much as you want I wouldn't go above 6
This is not true in the TCG, if you want to play at an event like a local tournament or regionals (aside from special side events) Between you and your friends, sure, you can have 4 people
That is absolutely not true, there is no rule stating that. However, keep in mind that a vast majority of the Yugioh TCG community are males, so that's what they probably meant. Nonetheless, I hope you're able to enjoy the game/community if you ever get into it :)
This was really good but I'm sorry I find you quite hard to understand sometimes. You start a sentence loudly and get quieter as you speak ending a sentence very quiet. This makes it hard for me to understand you especially as you speak quite quickly. It really feels like you're just reading from a script you've written and you're not really presenting it just reading it really quickly like the way you would in school when the teacher asks you to read aloud
Now wait just a minute you started the video within a couple minutes of saying somebody who plays this game has the reading comprehension of a six-year-old ? I don’t think that’s gonna make people especially in the adult range attracted to your videos. 😂 if these kids are pretty smart at the game and if they’ve won tournament prizes I’m pretty sure they’re reading level is better than a six-year-old.
"99% of tcgsam subscribers are statistically more likely to have higher iqs" that's not a proper statistic, it means nothing. You could say "tcgsam subscribers are statistically more likely to have higher iqs" or you could say "99% of tcgsam subscribers have higher iqs"
You wanna teach people how to play a trading card game, but you dont even know that card games name. Its called DUel Monster. Yugioh was just the anime. So you wanna teach people how to watch an anime or how to play Duel MOnster XD
Wow. Someone finally made one of these that actually talks about every rule. Thank you very much.
Glad you enjoyed :)
My favourite lecture of the new semester
Thanks man, veteran to card games, never even attempted to learn Yugioh, and you explained the rules nicely so I know what to look out for in terms of not so clearly explained stuff
I am stoned and watched this at 1.5 speed, and found this still very informative and clear.
Impressive
Me too 😂

Thank you, I really appreciate it! I'll try to keep this updated if there are big changes to the game for sure
I'm currently creating my own tcg game and found this really helpful when thinking of game design :)
God, I used to be a beast until we started having 30 spells and 10 hand traps 😂 Need to learn the new style
Just play old school formats like GOAT or Edison
This helps me a lot! Just ordered a starter deck and a booster box!
That's great to hear, welcome to the game :)
Sweet, my first lesson, great work.
I’ve tried to watch other videos that explains the basics of the game but couldn’t watch any of them until the end except for yours! And I can finally say that I’ve learned something lol .. time to dig more deeper and see some gameplays! Thank you!
I used to play the hell outta my maiden with blue eyes deck but I quit for a while 6 years later I wanna get back in and this was the perfect refresh
Thank you for your lecture I haven’t played Yugioh since I was 15 and now I’m 27 and they’ve changed their rules but your lecture help me understand everything thank you again 😊

Complete newbie here, never played before ever. Very useful video. Keep em coming 💪😎

It’s been years since I’ve played and a good friend of mine sent me this to help get me back into it, I’ve got my notebook and I’m ready to learn
Showing this to my dad who im trying to get into yugioh , hope it works
This is extremely overwhelming as someone who is new to playing this game 🤣
my head hurts
This makes me feel so old. It all used to be so simple 😢
My kid's in grade 4 learning math and English. I figured I'd get him into this game to help motivate the reading and math. It looks way more complicated than it used to be. I think I might sort through the deck and simplify it to old rules lol. The simplicity is what made the game good, imo.
@@duderino6171maybe consider playing hearthstone instead of yugioh then. Its way more simple and linear
Trying to return to the game but it feels so overwhelming now 🙁

I love your content ❤
Thank you!
Hey Bonk, at 1:35 when he says reading comprehensiveness of a 6 year old. 🔑

Gave me a good laugh
Going to learn how to play most adult cards games!
Tl:dr you will have to read, theres no getting around it unless you want a bad time.
This is literally helping me learn think
Hi I have played other CCG/TCG what is a good structure deck to start with?
The traptrix one for sure! It comes with great staples, is easy to understand, and you really only need 3 structure decks to do well at your first tournament

1 year, but no one asked. WHAT ARE TUNERS?
There's tuner summons, too!
What's the deal there?

I have a lot of cards and wated to play again. Guess who needs to buy new cards cause the meta changed hell of a lot.
You got my sub 👍
When people are playing the card game do people call it yugioh or do they call it duel monsters.
Yugioh!
If I use the card the melody of awakening dragon and I get blue eyes white dragon in my hand do I still need to tribute two cards to summon in the field,?
Yes
since the newest rules of the game the extra monster zones are no more. just saying it in case you didnt already knew that :)
EMZs still exist, but XYZs, Synchros, and Fusions don't have to be summoned there anymore like they used to.
Thanks for the vid
Shit i bought 3 structure deck and hoped to play with a friend. Its more and more becoming clear that this was just a waste of money.
Hi I was wondering how do you play different yugioh cards
So do the pendulum monsters they go in the extra deck?
When they would be sent from the field to the graveyard, they instead go to the extra deck face up
@@tcgsam thank you appreciate ya
Im an experience player the only thing I struggle with is competitive deck building
This video I made might help then :) ruclips.net/video/yw7VObr9aR0/видео.html

thanks now i can play

Did you say “XYZ” monsters as “Exeeze”? Is that correct??
Yeah, it's correct. I don't know why, but that's what everybody calls them
It's pronounced like that in the rulebook too
@@tcgsam gotcha! That’s crazy to me, but I’m a fresh player in the scene (bought my first real deck literally 5 days ago!) so please don’t mind me!
@@yungseed98 what deck did you pick? Trap trix is an easy deck for a beginner to use btw and it gets a structure deck
Good fucking video , finally my pea brain can attempt to play the game
Perfect. Now only if I wasn't stupid.

Tbh im just forced to play yu gi oh becouse pokemon tcg online doesnt support my device but yu gi oh is available

You forgot continuous monster effects such as in Jinzo, also Spell Speed 4
Time to drain my wallet
Let's not forget the unofficial spell speed 4 cards, or cards that even spell speed 3 can't chain to.

As an mtg player, you guys could use more key words
I think effects in Yugioh are just so varied, there would be too many lol
