I think you should have a competition to win a stone chimney snd make me the winner 😂😂 love to watch your videos, im a nurse with no masonry skills 🤪 this is exactly what i want my chimney to look like. Very pretty.
I'm working on the foundation of my house which is only about a foot and a half.. I can't decide if starting from the siding and working down is more efficient or working from the bottom up to the siding. I'm a hairdresser not a stone mason so I've never done this before. Tips thank you
Mason, how are corners handled - is there a special type of corner stone made? Also what about cap stones - below the siding and and above the veneer. are they necessary?
Great video Mason. I noticed that you used different bonding agents for the Mortar and the stone. Is this be design or is there no issue using the same bonding agent for the mortar and the stone?
Very helpful videos. First time doing masonry work and building an outdoor fireplace. Are you adding any color to the mortar? I don’t want everything to look like gray concrete in between the stone. Thanks!
Can I ask you a question? I need to put an outlet on the veneer stone how can I drill a hole in it without breaking this stone ? Also how do I get through the wire mesh behind the stone without ripping it all apart and making a total mess? Thanks
Mason, I’m just curious, I come from commercial FRAMING mainly. I just started with a new company doing residential and commercial renovation and remodel. I’m doing stone columns currently. I’ve NEVER done any masonry before. Do you have any tips for “speeding up” I feel I’m just goin super slow? But also feel I’m doing what I see everyone else doing? Currently I’m covering 4 columns that are 16”x16” and 10’ tall. I’m averaging about half a column per 10 hour day…. Would you consider that slow? I’ve had comments that my work looks great, but I worry I’m slow? You definitely do great work and I’ve learned a bit from you in the last couple weeks!
You can start off fast but it will look like shit and you will make a lot of mistakes. Kinda like driving once you get good you can race. Or use some of that nailable shit.
You make it look so simple!
I try haha
like I've said b4 u r a true mason, its pretty impressive esp for being a young buck (no offense)

How long do you leave the scratch wall to dry for, 1 day?
And when you scrape the joints how long do you wait to start that?
Nice work.
Nice!
I wonder what the material is behind the concrete paste layer. Is it the wooden frame or something else?
Where did the stone come from?

I’m assuming the stone has to be dry or else it won’t stick to the mortar?

Do you find dry stack to be easier or more difficult than a grouted look?
How is that ever going to tread water?? No flashing or no sills!
Hi Mason, where are you located?
Sometimes you put a screen on the wall first. Is this only for larger jobs.
You're referring to a "lath".
I believe they do that if you are putting veneer stone on a surface such as wood but here it is brick.
How much do you typically charge per square foot?
Depends on the job
12-32 a sq ft
Grout bag you'll be there forever like that. Then use a wire brush once it sets up and you can push it in with a slicker if you want to
Lol I never seen some else lay stone backward like I always turn sideways to the wall

Speed comes with time. It’s more important to do it properly.

Looks good, to the point,,especially for a young man, think this would work for a shower,?
Doo doo doooo 😂 great instructions! Wish our Mason was as careful not to waste material and keep the stone clean.
A Home Depot bucket AND a Lowe's bucket? Man, you're disloyal.
He's an amateur, nothing really professional about his methods!! Plenty of other Pro's on RUclips you should be watching!! and learning from.
I did a job 35 years ago, not one stone has fallen off 👍📐🔨🧱
how did I know it was you!!!
