    Glad to see another part of this series. I've watched every part since the beginning. Good luck trying to restore service!

    Thank you again Chuck and Larissa for another great video. It was nice to see that Johnsonburg was just about completely fixed up on the outside before its destruction. It's a shame how some people have to ruin nice things for others.

      Johnsonburg station, unfortunately, became an attractive nuisance. Kids would hang out there and the town hired a crew to clean up the site, and either by mistake, miscommunication or purposeful intent the station got torn down.

    This episode is one my favorites, especially the montage. Having lived in Landing since 1965, I remember many of the structures, but wish I had the foresight to take some pictures.
    Chuck - Thanks so much for doing this. The trains, the history, the nostalgia for the glory days of the railroads leaves me enthralled and looking forward to the restoration of the cutoff.

    Loved this video chuck. I've been suscribed for about a year now. Love your videos & historical information. What a thrill to see the Blairstown station. I worked at that radio station in the mid to late 80s. Great job on the photo montage. I always wondered what the radio station looked like when it was a working train station. Do I recall you and a friend stopping in at the radio station one Sunday when I was there. I remember train buffs stopping in one Sunday in the late 80s.

      Not sure if it was us. We did do a community service taping with the station manager, probably on a weekend. That would have been sometime in 1989.

      @@LackawannaCutOff You may be correct with the question. I was gone about a year & came back for Sunday afternoon fill in. Although, that far back can be a blurr. I do know I started at the station in 1985. And worked Sunday morning for a few years. Keep up the great videos you produce. I love the historical information.

    Hi Chuck, ! Want to encourage you and Larissa, an episode that includes the contemporary assistants in N.J. Mr. Cartwright with a fresh look through his eyes on a video for us out here. Maybe a moment so you can say what you want to see in northwest nj. Not just the cut-off.

    Larissa, don't be afraid to tell that guy to get out of your viewfinder so you may get good, clean shots of the station buildings. Personal experience tells me far too many of these railfans just wander around thinking about their wants/needs with no regard for others. Shout it out, "Move!" Just kidding, Mr. Walsh.
    You would not have gotten even one jumping jack out of me at Blairstown. I would have made better use of one of those mats by laying down on it and taking a nap!
    On a serious note, the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic has crippled, if not entirely eliminated, gross income for private businesses and their employees. The trickle down affect is that tax-revenue streams to government are also way down. If nothing else, the latter provides New Jersey Transit with a convenient excuse for pushing the line's opening date back to 2026. Thanks for the update, Mr. Walsh, the information is much appreciated.
    Lastly, I wonder what the story is behind the cross seen at the left of Hank Hill's Andover photograph presented at 25:14. An unfortunate death of an employee or customer?

      Johnsonburg was torn down either by mistake or on purpose. It depends on which version of the story you believe. It had become an attractive nuisance for late-night problems, so the town may not have been entirely unhappy to see it go.

    This is the job of the Federal Government, It's really not the state that should be trying to do these projects. It's a interstate project. Like the tunnels to NY. It's Amtrak's job.

    • @cats0182
      @cats0182 3 года назад

      NO!! There is no provision in the US Constitution for the federal government to involve itself in the railroad business. The "Interstate Commerce Clause" has been so distorted and fractured that it is eons away from what the Founding Fathers intended. Railroads were built by private companies. Any future railroad projects should be built by private companies. If there is a profit to be made, private companies will follow along. No government should be the financier of last to prop up private businesses.

    • @intercityrailpal
      @intercityrailpal 3 года назад

      @@cats0182 The Union Pacific the PACIFIC RAILROAD OF THE UNION ARMY . Was built by the federal government . No investor would put money in a project west of the Missouri River at the time. Nor would any investor build our air, road or water system. The Federal Government or State government were always in these projects to get them done. Like Hoosick Tunnel and Moffit Tunnel. You don't know history. Even the canals were build by the state governments. You idea's were not even true in 1810. Where were you last year when trillion were given away to Wall Street? Trillions!
