    I don't care. Nick fury is nick fury black or white.
    Characters like nick, that are more their job then their life before it can change "skin" as much as the author pleases.
    Nick fury could be nickole fury, just as long as she's an ex CIA agent, ex military, with a lost eye, etc, etc, yadda, yadda.
    But nick has to be human.
    Characters that are the mantle more than the persona can do that also.
    And i don't find it confusing.
    It's like changing actors, pretty much like it.

      ***** Not necccarially what a lot of people don't know is that to legally be a junior the entirety of the name has to be the same, which would require JR. to appear on the documents like that. So that J could stand for anything like Jack or Johnson but people could still think of him as Nick Fury Jr.
      I know thins because I and my father share first names, and it's been a tradition in the family for awhile, However we do not want any Jr. so the Middle Name is always different.

    @Erick-ue6fh 8 лет назад +5

    your question was ansered along time ago.. he is not the fury from 616 or the ultimates universe. he is fury from 199999 plain and simple.

    • @44excalibur
      @44excalibur 8 лет назад +2

      +Erick Clemmson There is no 199999. Movies are not supposed to be "alternate universes." You want an alternate universe, read a "What If?" title. Movies are supposed to be an extension of the canonical(in this case, 616) source material. Anyone(including Marvel) who tries that "alternate universe" nonsense is simply making excuses for poor management and mistakes made by Marvel Studios. Remember, this is Hollywood, and Hollywood has a long track record of screwing up comic book adaptations. They don't even have the right to use the "alternate universe" excuse.

    • @Erick-ue6fh
      @Erick-ue6fh 8 лет назад +1

      44excalibur you should check you fact. The mcu IS considered an alternate universe

    • @44excalibur
      @44excalibur 8 лет назад +3

      Erick Clemmson I know all the facts. I know that Marvel likes to call the MCU an alternate universe, but I also know that such a thing is sloppy and irresponsible filmmaking because movies based on previously published material is not supposed to be an "alternate universe," it is supposed to be a faithful adaptation of the source material. Movies that stick to the source material(The Hunger Games, The Lord of the Rings, Sin City) are usually the best adaptations. Movies that stray from the source material(I Am Legend, Fantastic Four) are usually steaming piles of compost. Anyone who uses the "alternate universe" cop-out is again, making excuses for mistakes and mismanagement.
      Just look at the mess that the MCU made with Ant-Man, trying to adapt Edgar Wright's old and incompatible 2004 script that didn't work in the MCU, that only ended in Wright quitting the film, and which resulted in two of the central and essential Avengers characters, Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, to be omitted from the MCU storyline resulting in the Avengers movies not working as well as they should. Go look up Joss Whedon's original Avengers script and you'll see that he originally had Hank and Janet in the script and was ordered to remove them to accommodate Edgar Wright, and everything became a mess afterwards. Hawkeye and Black Widow had to be awkwardly inserted in their place, resulting in Hawkeye being limited to a zombie for most of the film as Joss had little for his character to do.
      And the Ultron movie was compromised completely, with the story being switched to Tony Stark which created lapses in logic and continuity that resulted in a film that was a letdown compared to the first movie. Again, calling it an "alternate universe" is just making excuses for mistakes and mismanagement on the part of Marvel Studios. Kevin Feige practically admitted the mistake when he finally confessed that the Ant-Man script "just wasn't working" after Wright quit the production. You need to do your research.

    • @Erick-ue6fh
      @Erick-ue6fh 8 лет назад +3

      I'm not even going to read your comments. I stopped after you said that it is supposed to be a fraudulent adaption lol. .... Nope. Not even. It's entertainment and how could YOU of all people tell Marvel that they got their OWN stuff wrong.. This will be the end of this conversation on my behalf

    • @44excalibur
      @44excalibur 8 лет назад +2

      Erick Clemmson If you don't read my comments then you admit that you don't know the facts. And I CAN tell Marvel that they got their own stuff wrong because Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige even admitted that they got it wrong. Do you not understand English? When Edgar Wright quits the Ant-Man film because he did not intend for his movie to be part of the MCU and Marvel Studios admits that the script "just wasn't working," what part of that do you not understand? And any script that omits two of the central characters from the Avengers is clearly a fraudulent adaptation. Why don't you stop being a mindless slave to Hollywood and start thinking for yourself?

      odio tedium I hadn't even thought about a solo movie. It could tie in to the first Captain America movie and the Agent Carter TV show where maybe he ran the Howling Commandos after Cap froze. He was there at the start of SHIELD, and the movie ends with his son being born. Could be cool.

    I doubt we'll see a Nick Fury snr, In the cinematic universe timeline (and by involvement the Agents of Shield timeline) Fury makes Coulson the new director of Shield so it might be that Marvel is planning to phase Fury out of the spotlight so that when Jackson's contract has ended he will be able to leave without creating a large plothole or an M.Night Shamylan-esque twist which would probably just piss everyone off.

      There are three things that could happen they could have Nick Fury Sr appear in Agent Carter as a new recruit for the Howling Commandos and then he could work his way up to a role he had in 616,they could do what the Ultimate universe did and have Nick Fury disguise himself as 616 Fury to get into Hydra ranks or they could have Scorn appear but instead of him being Fury's twin brother have him be his step brother or something.

      well on one hand they recently put out with a ww2 movie about nick fury staring bradd pitt as a white Sergent fury.
      on the other hand the 1st captain America movie had a black unnamed Sergent in charge of a unit called the howling commandos which included a fat dude with a mustache and bowler hat named dugan.
      so it could go either way. i wasn't aware they swapped out nick fury in the mainstream universe. personally i think that move seemed a little forced and was just pandering to movie verse fans.

    in a Deadpool comic way before Origins came to the big screen, someone asked Deadpool why he wears the mask and he said, "if you looked like Ryan Reynolds mixed with a Sharpay, you would wear a mask too". I think they do this kind of thing on purpose to get an actor that they want in the mindset to be playing a character.

    Race doesn't matter when it fits into the original storyline without causing problem, like when Will Smith was cast in Wild Wild West and it made no goddamn sense and caused huge internal errors, and when the person of a different race is the best person for the part, like Nick and The Kingpin in Daredevil. The Kingpin was the PERFECT casting in an otherwise horrible film and it was a great to see what's his name do the part so well. (RIP, man)
    The problem happens when they switch race or gender for pandering and not to make the whole program work at its best...
    Making the brother Storm black just added more bullshit to an already convoluted mess of a story... Making both siblings black would have worked... making the prof black would have worked... making Grimm or whatever the thing's name is black would have worked... but adding a whole adoption subplot just made a bigger mess.
    You should have a sound reason for your choices and Samuel L. Jackson was the best man for the part. Period. No pandering or PC bullshit, just the best casting choice possible.

    • @itayeldad3317
      @itayeldad3317 8 лет назад

    Personally, I've always liked white NickFury over black NickFury for 2 reasons.
    1st is because white NickFury was just the version I happened to grow up with.
    2nd was that while black NickFury seemed to have been created as a cool "badass" (which he was),
    white NickFury was always really more of a stoic "hardass".
    A little less cool I suppose, but I always felt it was personality quirk
    that was also a little less juvenile and more......authoritative.
    I have not read the "OriginalSin" storyline yet, but I have flipped through a few issues.
    And I really get the feeling that this series was written for the sole purpose
    of just killing off white NickFury and replacing him with black NickFury in the 616 universe.
    Why? Well as you mentioned at the beginning of this video, newcomers to the characters
    have probably been wondering about this whole....thing.
    I'd say that all this was done just so that there would no longer be any question
    of a black/white NickFury anymore in any media from here on out.
    It's all fun.

The Original Sin storyline was fine and all but they can't simply discard the original Nick Fury for a Samuel L. Jackson lookalike just because he's in the movies. What's next.. changing the Kingpin to look more like the actor in Dare Devil?

    Turning white characters black has been going on for some time, in many comics, movies and what have you, and was/is usually a form of political "correctness" which goes along with turning old time white heroes's side-kicks or servants who happen to be non-white into the "real brains" or driving force of the team, while the white "hero" is shown to be a well-meaning bumbler, but who gets the major credit. It's the "white's" guilt syndrome, and it's B.S. Here, Marvel simply came up with "reasons" to back up their decision.
    Admittedly, many of the old time heroes and stories were pretty racist sometimes, but Marvel Comics really took great steps towards racial equality for heroes with their black heroes, such as Black Panther, The Falcon, and Luke Cage. Why not create heroes who are black, rather than changing old ones? A person's ethnicity, while it should not matter in terms of equality, does have a particular quality in making that person who he/she is. I don't think the Black Panther would be the same if he was say, Native American, or "white". Why change Nick Fury? Why does DarkHorse comics change Robert E. Howard's Picts, (who are historically a Caucasian "race") into Black people? Mis-guided political correctness. Lack of imagination. Stupidity.
    Also, a note about the Infinity formula-shouldn't that have given Fury his eye back?

    • @NerdSyncProductions
      @NerdSyncProductions  9 лет назад

      gombuk1 From my understanding, the infinity formula is not a healing drug. It doesn't give you a healing factor, it just stops you from aging. He wasn't given the formula to heal from his wounds, but the doctor who saved him healed him and also saw that Fury would make a good test subject for the infinity formula. Two completely separate things that just so happened to happen at the same time, if that makes sense.

    • @darlalathan6143
      @darlalathan6143 6 лет назад

      You're thinking of the movie Green Hornet. I haven't seen the bumbling white hero/hypercompetent ethnic sidekick in anything else. The box office failures of superhero movies such as Green Hornet and Disney's The Lone Ranger stem more from the fact that pulp mystery and western genres they came from went out of style after the 1970s. Of course, to be fair, '70s blaxploitation and Hong Kong kung fu movies such as Shaft and Enter the Dragon introduced black and Asian action heroes and influenced superheroes such as Luke Cage, Black Lightning, Master of Kung Fu, etc. Ethnic sidekicks have been outdated ever since. Black superheroes first appeared on film in the 1990s, with MANTIS, a television show, Static Shock a Saturday morning cartoon based on a DC comic and movies such as Blankman, Meteor Man and the Blade Trilogy. Static and Blade are the most successful black superheroes so far, except for Hancock. Replacing white superheroes with black ones is called Race Lifting and Affirmative Action Legacy Hero in TV Tropes and is a business decision, by executives, done more for marketing than political correctness by cartoonists. The idea is to attract minority readers but trade on a famous name, rather than risk rejection with a nobody. A lot of media decisions are by executive meddling to continue or revive famous series or characters, hence all the remakes, reboots, sequels, prequels and comic book movies.

    I read a comic that took place in the Ultimate universe where Nick Fury was pretending to be dead, but then revealed he wasn't, helped Spider-Girl, Spiderman, and the Fantastic Four defeat Reed Richards (turned evil). At the end of the story, he lifts his eyepatch, which causes a great flash of light, hops out an airplane, and the flash of light causes everyone to forget that Nick Fury's still alive. Would you know anything about that?

    • @NerdSyncProductions

      BecauseImACooper The only relevant information I found in my research is that Ultimate Nick Fury and Nick Fury Jr. both lose their left eyeballs completely, whereas original Nick Fury just has his damaged. So it's very possible that Ultimate Fury put something in his empty socket that is similar to a Men in Black neuralizer. But I don't really keep up with the Ultimate Universe that much to be honest.

    Actually if you look at the documentary "Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe" Kevin Feige says that Samuel L. Jackson's agent called him and asked if there was any room for him in the first Iron Man movie (because Jackson is a fan of comic books) and Kevin came up with the post credit scene.
