The crazy lady Venom would've been pretty interesting.
A bit dark for Spidey, but interesting.
I completely agree. Maybe one day we will see the original concept used in the comics. Perhaps in Spider-Gwen... A guy can hope.
+Lucas the Prince of Darkness or maybe for the Kaine Scarlet Spider
Sadly Kaine is "dead" at the moment. But he might be making a comeback in Dead No More.
I know we did get a female venom at some point, she was Eddie's ex-wife. They called her She-Venom, but her origin was weird. She gets shot and is fatally wounded, so while calling her from a payphone, Eddie Brock sends the Venom symbiote through the phone line and gives her to symbiote to heal her. It was weird.
MagnuMagnus it would be cool if they made her a different symbiote
anyone else notice how fans hate something at first, then years later they say it's the most iconic thing ever o_0
MysticalGreenBeanie Haha. Yeah, I notice that a lot when doing research
MysticalGreenBeanie That's what happens when stuff like this goes mainstream. Pop culture ruins everything and hipsters are just the men on the front line of the war.
MysticalGreenBeanie yah like when no one wanted the 10th doctor to be replaced with the 11th doctor and then they started loving the 11th doctor.
Or Batfleck.
But it's not always the case. See Electric Blue and Red Supermen.
It's almost as if fans don't know what they're talking about and need to shut up and let the creative people be creative.
Marvel should make an alternative universe or a what if story of the female venom character actually happening. They can start the book right from the point of the husband and unborn child dying.
rapper2149 What is the comic series called?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/She-Venom
Kudo Redfox That's not the female Venom I was talking about. She-Venom is just Eddie's ex wife. I'm talking about an incarnation of a female Venom with the origins of the one this video states.
DCJ
That's the closest thing you can get
Or not even a Venom version of her but the concept of someone who hates Spiderman so much would be awesome.
Man... That female villain sounds so great, it fits so well in Spider-Mans guilt complex. They should do it now
MegaFunnymonkey123 I would honestly be okay if they introduced the female Venom into the movie universe.
I love that idea soo much aswell! That would also add a completely new level to Venom's character as she was a *completely* normal woman who went through a horrendous trauma. That is an incredible story.
She could even later become a Punisher-esque anti-hero.
09:42 I'm all about the black suit really... It just looks cleaner and stealthy.
A female Venom would have been awesome. Maybe this origin will be explored in canon at some point? We can dream...
She-Venom exists... She and Eddy even have a kid.
@@anothercleverusername992 More like Peter Parker a.k.a (Spider-man) and She-Venom have a son named Dylan Brock a.k.a (Venom) and other symbiote offsprings.
"definitely not going to be garbage." umm... about that...
Cosmic Nerd Studios i was thinking the same thing 😂😂 lmao
Awkward.
“It’s Clobbering time”lol
Cosmic Nerd Studios Lol
When that happen?
Female Venom sounds like she had a better motivation to hate Spider-Man than Eddie Brock did. I guess Michelinie had to sort of half-ass Brock's origin when he realized the editors weren't going to let him use his original idea. What always annoyed me is that Venom should have equally hated Daredevil if the capturing of the real Sin Eater is what got him ostracized from journalism (Although the symbiote's own animosity towards Spider-Man might've overrode those feelings).
I talk about this show a lot online but there was a good venom story in the spectacular spider-man cartoon. They knew that eddy Brock was going to be venom and because of that they built his hatred for Peter Parker slowly over that first season. (It's a really great show in general though)
+Matthew Rondello Spiderman the Animated series did something similar.
Venom could've worked as a female as well. I believe that was the sexiest mindset of the time. Don't get me wrong, I love Eddie Brock, but a female would've work too.
The red and blue costume of Spiderman is always going to be classic. That being said, oh always preferred the black suit! LOL! Seriously, It was a lot slicker and it just made him look more badass!
+Mark Donald keep the big toothy grin. problem solved.
I dunno, I think Mayhem, Spider-Girl clone/venom symbiotic from the MC2 universe is downright terrifying. And awesome. But really terrifying.
+Siara Hughes see, what these "creators" seem to forget is that they are writing FICTION. You want a woman to be a credible threat to a man? Write it that fucking way. what are you worried about? Realism?? in COMICS??? jesus, we're talking about a guy who was bitten by a spider and can now cling to walls and spin webs and shit. and your worried about credibility????
Ervin Griffin, Jr. aka Mr. Griffin being badass isnt spidermans thing being cool is
Make it look like the Slender Man. Thin woman with long thin limbs and a psycothic grin.
Lol, the fun of being in the future from when he said the new FF movie won't be garbage.
AND the irony of how bad the casting is looking for the new FF movie. Will they never learn?
I love that original black and red suit concept
The black suit is by far, my favorite suit, it's just better choice out of all of Peter's suits. I would wear a alien symbiotic suit, it's symbiotic not parasitic.
I've always had an idea for a retelling of the Black Suit storyline where Peter actually develops a positive relationship with the symbiote suit. Instead of just wanting to get rid of it because he discovered it was alive, which just seemed so thoughtless and aggressive. Like, the symbiote knows how to talk in modern comics nowadays. Maybe have it have learned english and be able to communicate with Peter as he's trying to get it off in the clock tower, and they're able to come to an actual compromise. I dunno.
@@randomfox12245 well it wasn't just because it was alive, if I recall it was because when he slept it used his body and attack more criminals with brutality and relentless, like I remember him waking up and he was wondering why he felt sore and had cuts on his body. The symbiote does take genetic and mental influences of the host and previous hosts.
The female Venom idea is very compelling. I hope they use it later. My fav suit is actually a recent one. The Tron-like stealth suit he had during Big Time.
The Female Venom would've been awesome, because the story is so horrifying.
One of the great marks of a villan is how justified they are in being a villan.
Spiderman "kills" her entire family and drives her insane? Perfect!
Piss on that guy who thought a woman couldn't be threatening.
Female Venom would've been nightmare fuel, because the reader would feel for her, while she was killing Spiderman.
Classic red and blue.
It just one of those suits that, doesn't matter how much time has passed, it never ages. It's a classic.
Nameless Avenger Agreed. I do, however, appreciate the occasional variant suit worn for whatever reason. Variety is fun.
I'm such a huge Venom fan, thanks so much for the back story behind the scenes creative process behind the character!! This is my first video of yours that I've ever watched and it was great! Keep up the good work!!
How long does it take to reconfigure the Rubik's cube in the background into the designs that it has on it.
Or is it just a green screened background?
30/40 mins to solve it + a minute to do that design. Not a green screen, Scott is insanely cool. - Nali
Haha that's impressive.
30 mins? Would take me 5
+French Fries Oh shit look out!
+French Fries if you notice, it's a 4x4 rubix cube. you sure you can do it that fast?
My favorite suit was Ben Reilly's Spider-Man Suit. :)
yes!
@sᴀʟᴇʜ sʜɪᴘʟᴜ loved the original Scarlet Spider suit too.
Black suit way cooler
I agree and disagree with you
octodoodle ya
Yup it sure is....... 🕷
octodoodle I agree
Nice recap, Scott. Thanks for the shout out!
honestly I'm a huge fan of the white suit he wore when he was part of the Fantastic Four it was freaking awesome.
As for Venom personally I think I would have liked a female version sense Spider-Man's Rogues Gallery is such a sausage fest especially back then.
Great way to start off the year :) looking forward to more.
Sareena The Traveller Thanks!
This is really one of the most interesting comic book channel I've seen, keep up the good work ;)
I would have loved to have a female version of venom. And as Cootst McButtgrab points out it's a solid backstory. As for Spider-Man's costume while I do love his black suit I feel the original design with the red and webbing under his arms stands out more and is just better all around.
A female venom could be interesting.
Edward Vey Definitely!
Michael Fedor Show Sure, but I was more talking about Michelinie's original concept for that specific female Venom backstory.
@Brandon Spain I guess you missed the 2018, depressing movie that contained 0/10ths of the original, brave but nerdy cosplay pioneer, about 2/10ths of it's villainous, main character and 1/10th of it's true background. Said movie also contained a surprise visit and spotlight from the very thing YOU think would have made it depressing, a Female Venom. Did you get up to pee during the scene or just forget? Did you find this travesty, NOT depressing because of your pee break or because you had no idea this was a Venom movie, in name only?
Theres already a bunch.
Like scream
What about She-Venom?
What about a video about the Crime Syndicate from Earth-3 (or 2, as it's sometimes from)?
Or why not something about comic books' habit of resurrection? I think it would be interesting.
BTW, love the new wall.
Gab Thanks! I'll look into those topics and see if there's anything there.
I remember when I was a kid, I didn't read comics but I loved comic book movies, cartoons, and TV shows. When the Secret Wars toyline came out I collected most of them. That was where I first learned about the black Spider-Man costume. There was a 3 or 4 comic panel on the toy's cardback that I read, it showed briefly Spidey in his ripped up red and blues and finding the symbiont and it combining with him to form the black Spider-Man costume. Even as a kid I remember thinking to myself "Uh-Oh, this is not going to turn out good". Years later when I learned about venom (I think the 90's Spider-Man cartoon) I wasn't surprised the black costume lead to him.
Very interesting. Keep up the good work. :)
Finally! I have been waiting so long... :D
Lord Space Pig So have I, but we cannot dwell on the past. The future is now!
I haven't seen anything of eddy Brock yet ( except for Spider-Man 3) but the venom girl concept sounds pretty cool as a Villian sounds pretty cool and also I love the new background and also like the Deadpool in the background
Tay Boy Unfortunately I have replaced Deadpool for the foreseeable future with a Thanos toy that I just got in today. I have a tiny Deadpool figure right behind me on the bottom shelf still, but you probably can't see it. I'll probably release a video this week that gives a better look of the set.
***** looking forward to it!
There was a female Venom at one point, Eddie Brocks ex wife Anne Weying, she gets shot, Eddie sends the symbiote through the phone line, literally Eddie was calling Anne from a payphone when she was at home and he sent it through from the phone to heal her gunshot wound then Anne becomes She-Venom go on a wee rampage then Eddie gets the suit back. Anne has comitted suicide from what I read trying to find more about her.
Fascinating history indeed!
What a great episode this one was, congratulations!
3:07 was such a great flashback from my childhood. Thanks very much for that
Maestro Fer Haha, thanks! Glad you liked it.
I would've liked the idea of a female Venom. Especially because her reason for hating Spider-Man seems less petty than Eddie Brock's. Granted, her child and husband's death clearly wasn't Spider-Man's fault, but still
Brock's origin was better. A female Venom would have been cool but not with this origin. The origin sounds cool at first, but the longer you think about it the less water it holds.
bigevil1001: Still better than Brock's
bigevil1001 Gonna have to disagree on that.
@@bigevil1001 you have it twisted. Eddie's version is really dumb if you think about for five minutes. The fact he hated Peter for something that would have happened anyway makes him too childish
@@Nzosaba_Matenge No you do. This woman doesn’t fit well with the symbiote and it’s power. She has a reason but she targets the wrong person it seems really dumb. Why doesn’t she go after the driver, that seems way more obvious. Brock was directly affected by Spider-Man and the 90s show which reinvented the origin does it perfectly.
The original black costume concept idea, WAY better. The Original Girl Venom story idea, WAY BETTER. As decent as the stories turned out, they passed on some gold.
first episoe of 2015! good as always!
now you got my curieostiy man... can you make an episode about interstin hate/love fan letters and the consequences of those letters?
like the Avengers Arena letters, reading every possible hate letter in my opnion was funny as hell! and although all those hate letters the story was prerty good after all :D
mabos555 Actually, I can think of two interesting stories off the top of my head that involve HUGE consequences of fan letters/fan reactions. I plan on covering both of them this year at least in some capacity. But I wonder if I can find so many that I could make that a loose theme of 2015. Haha
lol now my deatest friend you can search and let us all know :D i hope it's a good suggestion mate
***** Is one of them the Batman "Death in the family" where people had to call in or mail in to decide the fate of jason todd?
it is well known... i meant more miscomceptions besides this pridictble story arc :D
Malicious Hero One of them is that, but the other one I'm thinking of had even BIGGER consequences on the comic book universe. Unfortunately, I can't think of how to make into a full video. Might have to be a short 3-4 minute mini episode.
Amazing video my friend, very informative!!
I've been ripping my hair out waiting for a new comic misconception thank u for finally making one.
Nimic Andrews Yeah, sorry. There were the holidays, then I was sick, it was a whole thing. But we're back and (hopefully) better than ever!
Im just glad your back
Nimic Andrews I'm glad I'm back too! Haha
Also, having a black suit spiderman fighting Venom all the time could get a little visually crowded, too much black.
But man, that original concept for Venom sounds great. I'm sad they didn't go with the female idea. She kind of has a more solid reason for hating Spider-Man than Brock.
Jack Borden Yeah, I always felt his reason was a bit wimpy.
Catarrhini It's because the symbiote affects the host's mind, manipulating them. It was more like the symbiote wanted to take revenge for being rejected amplifying Eddie's resentment. Later on, Eddie realizes that the symbiote was controlling him and sets out on a crusade to exterminate all known symbiotes.
neonyankun Nope, not in the comics.
I am a rookie spider-reader, but the Black Suit is my favorite because black is my favorite color.
the color black rules!
chris huisman well technically black isn't a color haha.
Eh for me it's second to the current Spider-Man 2099 costume.
Fantastic job buddy!! you nail Venom origin perfectly!!!
Great video! Though I find it odd Web of Spider-Man 1 was not mentioned. That is the issue where after escaping the FF's containment, the symbiote sneaks into Peter's apartment and forcefully re-bonds with him, eventually leading to him removing it at the church where it is later revealed the symbiote finds Brock.
Marvel should make a 'What If..' story to play out this origin to see how the fans like it.. I mean they change venom and spiderman history so much I can't understand why they wouldn't do this in 2015-2016?!!? This story sounds awesome for the female venom! (Besides I hate Venom being a good guy) .... also this could work as a female Carnage story as well...
1. Black-Suit
2. Classic Red-Blue
3. Scarlet Spider (classic)
4. Ben Reilly Spider-Man
5. Spider-Carnage
I believe the lady venom had relatively much profound reason to Kill spider man than Brock, it's more personal, psychological, intense.I hope they give her a chance on screen though.
Loving the new set :)
I just love how in the course of the symbiote being a "heartless" being to actually gaining a "personality", it becomes so symbolic in the movement for paralyzed and/or villainous people to come and redeem theirselves.
Like how Agent Venom came to be and how Flash Thompson was able to settle down with the symbiote so that both can benefit without much villainy.
Alvin Kae Cabato The symbiote has had lots of character development over the years, which I quite enjoy.
I know right. I like how some authors/writers/comic artists make you feel connected to an object to an emotional level then they follow up by making a character out of it(reminds me of the companion cube from portal).
Are you comic-channels planning to do a collab project on telling stories like how comicstorian does his Complete Story guides?
I don't think so. At least, I was never invited to any. But Comicstorian will be on the podcast in a few weeks, so look out for that!
Looking forward to :3
+NerdSync wait there's a podcast?!
I really wish that they would've kept venom a female character. It would be an interesting twist for them to make Venom female in a movie - either this iteration, or the next one that Sony will inevitably make...
DKlarations That's what I'm thinking. I would love them to bring the female Venom to film. I genuinely would not mind that change at all.
Yeah but then it will come across as pandery and people will start to whine. Eddie Brock is also the most well known venom.
My fav spidery costume is the scarlet spider(Ben Reilly) one. All red jumpsuit with a blue hod die and the sleeves torn off all badass like. Cool.
no content only context, I love it
I still believe (and always will) that Venom makes a better character as a female. There's still always time in the marvel universe to fix that one day, I'd like them to make it permanent as opposed to just dabbled in.
+Alex Maxwell I really don't see what making Venom a female adds to the character. She could have some weird dominatrix stuff going on to torment Peter? That doesn't really make any sense since Venom knowing his secret identity was enough to make him terrifying. All that making Venom a female does is add opportunities for sexual tension.
+James Monroe ...yeah, that's the same. lol
+Scroogsy It's a mix of things really. For one, I always felt that Venom's imposing brute size kind of took away from the real core aspect of the character, the psychological stalker. The female part specifically is about the psychological mind games. It's less about the tension with Peter as opposed to the tension she creates in the rest of his life. Off the top of my head, let's say a dynamic of her having become MJ"s best friend. It just affords different situations that affect people in different ways to play the stalker.
Venom did just fine as he was obviously, otherwise we wouldn't love him. I just think it could be more fun a different way and symbiotes afford that possibility in spades. :D
Alex Maxwell Maybe Spider-Gwen will give you that
+Metemnight I have to agree with Stefan, while it's apparently true that Venom was supposed to be a woman, he's not. I love the idea you've got but I'd rather get an all new character than have them retcon everything he was before. Unless of course it involves time travel shenanigans taking place where Venom does become a girl and successfully ruins Spiderman's life only to find that time travel was involved, causing more time travel to happen eventually ending with a lovecraftian horror fight of epic proportions that creates a living paradox symbiote human hybrid character that is her own mother and is more powerful than OG Venom because she's half symbiote, she get's sent back to before this all started becomes the woman she grows up to be who hates spiderman and causes all this leaving the other one from before to latch onto Our Venom bring her back to this universe where all her work hasn't happened and creates new plans to destroy spiderman or the venom of this universe for undoing her work, or both, probably both.
I got to vote for the red and blue costume. It's one of the most timeless and enduring super hero designs out there. They nailed it in the 60's and there was no need for change.
Also female Venom would have been great. Imagine how different things would be. I'd be totally on board if they decided to resurrect the idea for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
To be honest that alternate Venom sounds really awesome! I would've preferred that.
Hey! Great first episode of 2015 :)
Can you go deeper into the Secret Wars comic event?
Also, can you make another video based on accidental comic characters that fans (indirectly) created?
Christine Kim I have two ideas about how fans had HUGE influences on comics as we know them today that I plan on tackling this year at some point. As for Secret Wars, I don't know how much more I could talk about it.
***** Okay!
Female Venom be great atleast could give spidey more female villians to fight with.
Man, when I was a child I was impressed how cool Venom was a spider-man's nemesis... Now I'm thinking how hot Venom would be if he would be woman :D
Really cool episode. I really like the idea of that female venom sounds like a nice origin story and of course traditional costume is always the way to go. Although that black costume looks pretty cool.
Very enjoyable. Big fan of Spidey and Venom. Well done!
Betwen the black and red costume he had a fantastic four costume with a bag as a mask. He had it when he was going home from the fantastic four after they removed it.
raggarharry Yep, I literally almost talked about it, but it didn't fit well with the flow of the episode.
I get that and I want everyone to know it so I wrote it my self :D
I'd love to see the original concept for venom but just in a singular comic away from the canon universe
Keep em coming bruh
Awesome awesome video. Thanks Jason.
I wouldn't be surprised if marvel changes venoms origin to a woman one day
Jerson Ibarra I seriously would love that.
I hope they could write a one shot story of the original draft of the costume and add it into the Spider-verse event.
:)
bartdman95 Now THAT'S a great idea!
Well done! The link you added was mostly Marvels flip-flipping and not really how the story came out. Your tale was right on... I was there to read them... ;)
Great video!!
Female Venom should be in Amazing Spider-Man 3
Adam Morrison Agreed!
Neh, man venom just makes too much sense... Female carnage on the other hand...
There will not be an Amazing Spider Man 3 fyi js
Glad you guys are back.
Me like the lady venom
kenonerboy It's good to be back!
Great script! Loved the info and warmed to you at the end as I initially didn't like you. Well done.
The Mr. Fantastic-designed suit idea was used in Spider-Man Unlimited too.
lady venom sounds intensly dark would have been great... shame about the sexism...
I for one think that it could still come back (Maybe a different Symbiote)
I like the idea of the female venom because that would explain the whole "baby" symbiote idea if the original host after Peter was female it would have both male and female dna. I have an action figure of the original black suit as well. Random trivia
JJT Adams That's a good point. Also, SUPER jealous of your black suit Spidey figure!
The first Spider-Man comic that I ever read is the one where he gets the black costume. I found my moms old comics from the 80s and that was the first issue I ever read.
raggarharry That's awesome!
That was awesome. Red and blue.
There actually was eventually a female Venom called She-Venom, who made her debute in a limited series late '90s. Though I don't know the full story
Eddie Brock's ex wife was bonded to the symbiote to help heal her from a gunshot wound she had, but it only lasted a couple of issues before going back to Eddie.
WOW! I didn't know the Iron Fist thing, It kind of fits him, though I'd say it would be better if the suit was a mystical suit self-repaired with the power of chi.
I also liked the idea of a Female Venom specially because that sort of dark storytelling would not bypass censors today.
BurnRoddy I like that idea about the suit being mystical more than biological for Iron Fist. I think it fits better for his character.
The Superior Spider-Man has been one of my favorite alternate costumes of any superhero in recent years. It's very simple, but striking.
SuperThebillybob 100% agree! I didn't much care for the very first Superior Spider-Man costume, but the second version is great!
Oh yeah...that original concept sounds awesome, honestly. That sounds way more intriguing & I'm a big fan of both the black suit & Venom
I wish I still had the Symbiote Spider-Man from the Secret Wars Mattel toys line in good condition. I hear it's worth a little bit of money today. I played with it a lot.
The Scarlet Spider was actually ahead of it's time. He ROCKED the blue hoodie even before hoodies were cool and fashionable to wear. Hey, ***** I would like to see a video like this talking about the Scarlet Spider origins and maybe with the benefit of time we can all get a better perspective on the clone saga.
Michael Fedor Show I've gotten so many requests for an episode about the Clone Saga, and I honestly need to fully grasp and understand it myself first. Haha. That one is going to be at least a month of research and reading if there's anything there that I could make a video out of.
The best way to do it would be a series if documentaries and no sharp objects around when reading the clone saga.
Michael Fedor Show I still have toy lol
The *Female Venom* is ok, but that motivation, that 'origin' was really one of the lamest!!!
Blame *Spider-Man* because the driver was distracted? Are you nut as Martha Wayne?
-BETMARK-
Would make more sense than Eddie Brock's.
i mean say there was a police officer saving a kid or whatever and the same thing happened would you blame the police
The End Ninja
Right?
BETMARKonTube muy did you say that name!
Savage _Tv will how would you feel if your life got ruined because you accidentally framed a superhero for killing someone? His life was completely ruined, his wife left him, his father disowned him, and he lost his job.
I love this story! And I love that huge fans were able to make something so cool in the Spider-Man universe. We might never have had Venom otherwise.
very well done
Now that Spider-Man can appear in Marvel's movies, could it be possible for them to introduce the Venom Symbiote in a similar way they originally did in the comics?
Yeah maybe they can introduce the black suit in the end of infinity war part 1 (infinity war would take place after his first solo film btw) and have him wear the suit until his next solo film sequel and introduce venom as the villain for that film. Basically, wears black suit starting in infinity war part 1 - Spiderman 2.
@@DCJ134VIDS Lol I wish
@@IronIsKing wishful thinking 6 years ago lmao
Shit turned out pretty cool regardless 🤩
@@DCJ134VIDS Yea
In the S. Spiderman toon Venom got the best intro line of "We are toxic to both Spiderman and Peter Parker! WE ARE VENOM!!!"
HMM, best line huh? I wonder, how did the Symbiote AND Eddie AND you, not get the memo?
Variant is awesome!😃
Awesome episode! Love the new set! Where did you get that cool DCU poster BTW?
Garrett Lohuis FYE. There was a matching Marvel one, but they were sold out, so I only got the DC one. Still, it's one of my favorite posters, and I have a lot of posters. Haha
Cool! Thanks for the info! Keep up the great work on the show!
Garrett Lohuis Will do!
cool. never knew venom was supposed to be a chick. nice episode. keep them coming
Atlas Animationz Thanks! Will do!
OK I love the idea of a female venom. Don't get me wrong, I love the bulky , tough venom so very much. But the idea of sexy, crazy with vengeance venom female sounds so damn bad ass. Did marvel ever make a female venom later on for a short period?
noel acevedo Yes! There at least was She-Venom. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/She-Venom
cool video! also, idea for an episode, maybe talk about which comic book characters stan lee did and did not make
JGre94 That's like opening up a can of worms.
Nice set
Nimic Andrews Thanks!
I'm sure you probably know this since you would have had to spend a lot of time editing, but the camera wobbles constantly whenever you move up and down. Maybe weight the camera down more?
Great video otherwise though!
JP Kloess Yeah, I did notice that. It's never been a problem before, so I don't know what the issue was this time. But I'll try to fix it.
The female Venom really caught me by surprise, what's your source?
***** That book, Comics Creators on Spider-Man. During the interview with David Michelinie (the creator of Venom) he talks about how he originally planned on Venom being a woman with that backstory.
***** There's also this link that goes over that story in the book so you don't have to purchase it to read it. Though, as I said, the book is definitely a good buy! goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2006/05/11/comic-book-urban-legends-revealed-50/
Female venom should show up in one of the alternate marvel universes. Maybe Spider Gwen since it has a comic already? Actually that could work in the 161 universe too, since the Venom symbiote pretty much just picks the angriest person in the room most of the time.
You got me there, sir, I've never heard of the woman concept. That would be awesome, though I love Brock's Venom the way he used to be. I feel like I'm gonna buy that book, too. Great job, as always!
Krab Mrówkowy Thank you! And yeah, I only read a few sections so far, but it's really insightful into the behind the scenes of Spider-Man.
Love the new background
its not another green screen is it LOL
also yes Venom should be female or Groot
and i whould have proverd the black suit with red
Comic Taco Productions It is a real set. I promise. Haha
The original female venom sounds awesome, and way more fitting of the parasite. But I admit, it is pretty dark by the standards of the time
YES!!!!!!! New comic misconceptions!
this was awesome!! this was exactly what I was look for regarding the very beginning of the black suit and the reasons why venom hates Spidey. thanks
I'm sure they could've done something as to do with a female Venom, I mean although she did get sane they could've made it so she literally snaps at the sight of Spiderman and her face gets contorted with anger which is transformed into the face of Venom.
But I guess some depth and backstory didn't go well with readers back then. And I guess comic companies were rly on edge when giving the readers what they want, usually writers seem to not give a damn about what they're giving readers which result in them making the best of what they got to offer. Its up to fans to decide whether we're happy with the existence of Venom or preferred Spidey's regular costume to be black and white.
Welcome back, nice new backdrop and. Here's to a new year of Common Misconceptions of comics in Comic Misconception. As Mary Jane would say, Go get em' Tiger.
Katekyo504 Thanks! It's good to be back! And yeah, fans really had a HUGE influence on comics in those days. I'm not sure if our opinions carry the same weight today, but I like to think what we say still matters at least a little bit.
*****
I hope so. Or else Mopee in the flash won't happen.
Katekyo504 And #MopeeInTheFlash NEEDS to happen!
*****
I just now noticed how the hashtag is very close to the phrase "In the Flesh" Did u ever realize that?
Katekyo504 I did not. But now I will never unsee it.
I almost wish the internet was around during major comic happenings like Crisis, Jason Todd's intro, Venom's introduction, Wonder Woman 70s, Batman 66, and Spiderman's black suit. Imagine the rage and whining. We mostly only have word of mouth from the people who were there now.
Posey Something really interesting I found in doing the research is that a lot of people remember really loving the introduction of the black costume, but the creators only remember the hate mail. Back before the days when everyone uploaded their feelings to the internet via facebook, twitter, youtube, and basically any other site, I bet it was easier for the haters to cover their tracks and say they always liked the costume. Haha
Or maybe the people that liked it didn't bother to send in fan mail.
Most likely. I feel like people are much more willing to take action against things they don't like as opposed to taking action for something they do like. You feel a stronger compulsion to write in hate mail than love letters.
Welcome back. I really like this site. Comic Misconceptions.
Slicksterpat Good to be back!
I can clearly remember being 14 years old in middles school (we called it junior High at the time) and hearing about the black costume issue at a comic book club I belonged to at school. I thought it was the coolest thing ever that there was a new spiderman suit and it looked so cool. Of course, I was reading all 3 Spidey comics at the time (Web, Amazing and Spectacular) so eventually bought most of the early McFarlane comics including 299 and 300 first appearances of Eddie Brock a.k.a Venom
