- In today's video I'm going to turn this half of a mesquite log that I got from a friend's backyard. I added a little resin to make up for the flat area of the log.
I hope you enjoy this video. Please let me know if there is a project you'd like to see me make and I will do my best to do it. Thank you for all the support you have shown me and the channel!

Great Bowl , Fantastic Grains. Well Done !!
Thank you! - Ed
What a beautiful bowl. I love the grain of the mesquite.
Thank you! I love it too. - Ed
Beautiful work 👏 👌
Thank you! - Ed
I love turning mesquite, it is one of my favorite woods. Being from Texas I get to turn it often.
So satisfying to watch. And the bowl is beautiful!
Thank you so much! - Ed
Beautiful mesquite wood bowl. The grain is gorgeous. I live in NE Arizona now as well as other areas of Arizona. Mesquite has always been one of my favorite woods from here. You did an awesome job. Thank you for sharing. Love it. 💕❤
Thank you! We are very blessed to have both mesquite and acacia here in Arizona. Those just happen to be two of my favorite woods. - Ed
That’s a very beautiful bowl Ed!
Thank you! - Ed
Such a beautiful wood and you did an amazing job with it 👍😎
Thank you! - Ed
That came out really nice, Ed! I love working with mesquite!
Thank you Billy! Me too and that's good because like Texas, we have a lot of it around here. - Ed
Very nice! Makes me want to get back to the lathe.🥰
Thank you Gayle! It felt like forever since I turned anything. It felt good getting back on the lathe. - Ed
Really nice job Ed, I especially like the laser logo at the end.
Thank you George! I gave up on trying to burn my logo in with one of those metal stamps on the end of a soldering iron. I could never quite get the hang of it. Now, I just put it in and hit a button. So much easier! - Ed
Love everything about this one Ed.
Great work.
Take care mate.
Cheers, Huw
Thank you Huw! I hope you and the family are well! - Ed
Nice bowl, Ed. Beautiful wood and a great choice of resin colors.
Bill
Thank you Bill! - Ed
Great looking bowl. Well done.
Thank you very much! - Ed
Very nice, Ed. Ya done good!!! I have not turned mesquite in quite some time and getting ready to turn some more after I feel better. Keep those chips flying!!!!
Thank you John! I like turning mesquite and there is a lot of it here in Arizona. I don't think I've ever turned a piece of mesquite that didn't crack on me. I always have CA glue on standby. Take care! - Ed
When a pretty bowl.
Thank you Jane! - Ed
A very beautiful bowl Ed. Unfortunately mesquite does not grow here in eastern Ontario.
Thank you Jack! You may not have mesquite there, but man do you have an abundance of other really nice wood. - Ed
Nice work Ed! The resin looks great with the wood. I've never turned mesquite before how is it? My favorite woods were I live are black walnut and red cedar. Take care and GOD BLESS 🙏!
Thank you Stephen! Mesquite is a pretty hard wood and is very prone to cracking. I do love turning it and there is plenty of it here in Arizona. - Ed
Just curious as to why you didn't use the left over resin to fill the cracks. CA glue makes rhe wood more brittle and isn't really food safe.
Why is it just about every wood turner takes the ring off the bottom of bowls? Bowls are supposed to have a ring or lip on the bottom.
Thank you for watching! I can't comment on what others do, but for me, it depends on the look I'm going after. - Ed
