For me its more personal, a son of an alcoholic who's been clean from a drug addiction for 16+ years. I was blessed with my mothers intelligence and I have the ability to understand things. This tune is easily in my top 5 favorites...
2:21 -- The presentation of the word "anymore" in this line...it starts with such raw, carnal strength, then fades into such beautifully broken vulnerability... ...this one specifically-presented word may be my spirit animal.
You made me tough, you made me numb You are the maker of what I've become And now I am strong where I was weak And I am unafraid of being me So say hello to the monster that you made Thank you for the pain, thank you for the hate Thank you for the way that you left me scarred Thank you for the stain that you left on my brain Now because of you I've got a heart of Novocaine A heart of Novocaine Once upon a time you had control And on and over my poor soul And the trust in you but now I see You never knew the real me And now I'm angry and you wonder why You see a fire burning in my eyes Once you had me but you lost me now And there's no going back So say hello to the monster that you made Thank you for the pain, thank you for the hate Thank you for the way that you left me scarred Thank you for the stain that you left on my brain Now because of you I've got a heart of Novocaine A heart of Novocaine My fear has died, my tears have dried I don't feel afraid and I won't run away I believe in me and now I see Right through your lies, hiding behind your eyes Because of you I'll make it through And nothing can hurt me like you did anymore Thank you for the pain, thank you for the hate Thank you for the way that you left me scarred Now there's nothing you can say to wash it all away Now because of you I've got a heart of Novocaine A heart of Novocaine A heart of Novocaine A heart of Novocaine
Mickey Bdm ”And on and over my poor soul And the trust in you but now I see...” line is actually: ”And lorded over my poor soul I trusted you but now I see...”
This whole album is amazing so far!! You gotta have 1 or 2 ballads on each album and I’m so glad they recorded a song with just an acoustic guitar and Lzzy’s mind blowing powerhouse vocals. 🤘🏻
I've just found this song, i don't know the band, but OH MY GOD-the singer is so fucking great, the guitar is like heaven and the lyrics is something what I was lookin for. There are so much emotions in this song, and I love it, 'cause I've been through tough times but now I'm strong and proud. Thank you xxx
The band is Halestorm you will not be disappointed Lzzy is an amazing vocalist and her brother an amazing guitarist they have quite a few albums out I found them about four and a half years ago when I was going through a really bad spot and her voice and the band pulled me through I'd give anything to meet her
This song hits everything I've felt for years so perfectly. I cried listening to this song for the first time. Every time I hear it, I can't help but sing as well.
This is the perfect song of the lifetime of abuse i sustained from my point of origin. I am honestly crying because this song shows the hurt, but passion and fight towards those who hurt us. Thank you Halestorm, thank you Haley you are a voice of all us young women (no matter what/where we started from) who escaped or are on that journey towards escape and freedom. We may have beaten down, but we stood back up scarred and stronger because of them.
Sorry I'm not trying to be rude, and I completely agree with her being and inspiration but if I was wrong I would want someone to correct me? And I realised that it came of kind of abrupt
I got deja vu listening to this song...weird... Great ballad from one of the greatest songwriters in rock right now. I love how heartfelt it is. Really speaks to certain situations and how they've left me numb and scarred and unwilling to feel again.
That makes sense. I can hear the influence too. However, my deja vu was more personal. I felt like I had heard this song before or seen this image, a long time ago, in a dream.
You put it in better words than I have. Unwilling to feel. It's not incapable of hurt, a heart is just incapable of pain. It's not that a novocained heart can't feel, it just won't.
This is by far my favourite one in the album, with The Silence. Is a side of Lzzy I never heard and I didn't know I needed it until I listened to those songs.
This is the one I've been looking forward to the most and it's definitely been worth the wait. Your voice is so amazing, I'll definitely listen to this when I'm stressed or need to calm down. Your voice is really calming and gives me goose bumps every time.
...one day I'll get used to her voice and I'll listen through such songs without even notice it. And the Sun will go dark. And the Earth square like a block.
I love almost every single song Halestorm has to offer...but this one is the one that I feel I need to stop everything and listen to. I even paused it and restarted it when it came on my Pandora at work today, just so I could wait until I was headed home and give it the full attention it deserved. There’s just so much passion, and it feels like it’s tugging at all of the scars on my heart and on my mind that will remain for the rest of my life, even if they have healed and become “numb”. I notice them in my daily life now more than I’ve ever had as I’m trying to make more lasting relationships with those I’m close to, but often find it’s too difficult - I’m so afraid of being hurt again that I won’t even let myself fall in love, let alone just make deeper connections with friends I’ve had for ages. It’s probably the exact opposite of what this song is all about, but I can’t help but feel comforted and empowered by it.
Thank you lzzy for a wonderful song as a survivor of narcissistic abuse this speaks volumes... Every word hit me like a ton of bricks and all the emotions came flooding in. It's good to feel instead of being numb like I used to be. This song is helping me heal. Again thank you 😘💜
at some point in the middle of the video I paused it... had to pick up my jaw from the floor! I literally told my boyfriend that I haven't heard such raw and emotional vocals on a studio albun in ages... I told him "damn idk what happened, but she's feeling it.. she means every single word!"... turns out I was spot on lol after listening to this, I put the live version and she literally said that she was actually going through smth right when they were recording the album.. this recording right here will be one of a kind! overflowing raw emotion.. amazing... I guess there's always this one song for every artist!
Any vocalist that can be compared to Pat Benatar is already top notch. This is one of the first songs I heard Lzzy high scratch heavy and sustained, obviously we all knew she could but man, I instantly was reminded of Pat. Take that and the various styles of this album, and another amazing record. Lzzy Hale has been my favorite female vocalist untouched for I can't remember how long, and she just added another level to the bar....amazing.
My mom is very LGBT phobic and I came out to her as gay last night when she kept intentionally maliciously misgendering my trans roommate on the phone. Radio silence until I hung up. She abused me when I was a kid but I swept it all under the rug. Now I'm afraid of being of being disowned and losing what little in my small family I have left. This song is especially important to me today.
In my opinion this song and The Silence are the real masterpieces of new album. I like all Vicious's songs, but I'd prefer to hear much more Lzzy's voice and much less noise, cause she makes the difference.
Lzzy's vocals + acoustic guitar = pure magic!
Igor Gamarnik We can't agree more
She is the best.
So much emotion in her voice what a queen
I connect with this song on a personal level for a very simple reason.
Novocaine doesn't make a heart stronger. It just doesn't hurt anymore.
SaberTag 💯
Me too, I was thinking how novacaine makes you numb. It’s like she can handle so much more pain now because she’s numb to what used to hurt her
Just cocaine for me
For me its more personal, a son of an alcoholic who's been clean from a drug addiction for 16+ years.
I was blessed with my mothers intelligence and I have the ability to understand things.
This tune is easily in my top 5 favorites...
You're correct on that
I would listen to an entirely acoustic album of Halestorm. Record a live acoustic "best hits" and I will buy that in a heartbeat...
Tiara Brown ..For real man! I was telling my sister that the other day.
I have some good news if you didn't already know, there's the Reimagined songs they released recently.
2:21 -- The presentation of the word "anymore" in this line...it starts with such raw, carnal strength, then fades into such beautifully broken vulnerability...
...this one specifically-presented word may be my spirit animal.
The lyrics and Lzzy's voice can hit you like other VERY few songs in the whole history of music can do. One of the best song EVER
You made me tough, you made me numb
You are the maker of what I've become
And now I am strong where I was weak
And I am unafraid of being me
So say hello to the monster that you made
Thank you for the pain, thank you for the hate
Thank you for the way that you left me scarred
Thank you for the stain that you left on my brain
Now because of you I've got a heart of Novocaine
A heart of Novocaine
Once upon a time you had control
And on and over my poor soul
And the trust in you but now I see
You never knew the real me
And now I'm angry and you wonder why
You see a fire burning in my eyes
Once you had me but you lost me now
And there's no going back
So say hello to the monster that you made
Thank you for the pain, thank you for the hate
Thank you for the way that you left me scarred
Thank you for the stain that you left on my brain
Now because of you I've got a heart of Novocaine
A heart of Novocaine
My fear has died, my tears have dried
I don't feel afraid and I won't run away
I believe in me and now I see
Right through your lies, hiding behind your eyes
Because of you I'll make it through
And nothing can hurt me like you did anymore
Thank you for the pain, thank you for the hate
Thank you for the way that you left me scarred
Now there's nothing you can say to wash it all away
Now because of you I've got a heart of Novocaine
A heart of Novocaine
A heart of Novocaine
A heart of Novocaine
you are an angel
yeah y're right ! thank you
Mickey Bdm ”And on and over my poor soul
And the trust in you but now I see...” line is actually: ”And lorded over my poor soul
I trusted you but now I see...”
Am I the only one who pictures Sasuke Uchiha or Obito Uchiha when hearing this song?
Thank you!! It's usefull!
This whole album is amazing so far!! You gotta have 1 or 2 ballads on each album and I’m so glad they recorded a song with just an acoustic guitar and Lzzy’s mind blowing powerhouse vocals. 🤘🏻

Mrs. Cindy Welcome to the fam ❤️ you won’t regret listening to Halestorm
The band is Halestorm you will not be disappointed Lzzy is an amazing vocalist and her brother an amazing guitarist they have quite a few albums out I found them about four and a half years ago when I was going through a really bad spot and her voice and the band pulled me through I'd give anything to meet her
Her brother is not a guitarist, he's a drummer of the band. But still he's amazing.
She does an incredible job of conveying pain with her vocals. This is phenomenal.
wow, one of my favourites song from Halestorm so far, It reminds me a lot to I'm Not An Angel. Beautiful song, perfect album.
I can't be the only one sat here sobbing??

It's lizzy not haley
Sorry I'm not trying to be rude, and I completely agree with her being and inspiration but if I was wrong I would want someone to correct me? And I realised that it came of kind of abrupt
I love when music is not only a beautiful sound but also a deep message that reaches my heart
Oh i'm crying!!! I love this..😢❤
Her voice gives me shivers! Such an amazing powerful voice
I got deja vu listening to this song...weird...
Great ballad from one of the greatest songwriters in rock right now. I love how heartfelt it is. Really speaks to certain situations and how they've left me numb and scarred and unwilling to feel again.
I definitly hear some hallelujah at the bridge and the solo reminds me of Eagles's Hotel California (old school rock solo?), don't know why though...
That makes sense. I can hear the influence too. However, my deja vu was more personal. I felt like I had heard this song before or seen this image, a long time ago, in a dream.

Without a doubt, my favourite of the new songs.

I love the aggression in Lzzys vocals! So powerful!
This song is amazing and so is her voice!
...one day I'll get used to her voice and I'll listen through such songs without even notice it. And the Sun will go dark. And the Earth square like a block.

Absolutely awesome song and best Halestorm's ballad ever! Thank U and Greetings from Russia!
