- Terence Dougherty, COO of the ACLU, testified during the defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard about the op-ed Heard wrote for the Washington Post, which is the center of the lawsuit the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor filed against his ex-wife. Dougherty was questioned about multiple emails between Heard and the ACLU showing the ACLU lawyers helped to review the draft and at one point discussed a desire from Heard to re-add Depp's name to the op-ed regarding her filing a temporary restraining order, which had previously been removed by her lawyers. Depp was not named in the op-ed but still filed the lawsuit because of the piece.

Yes charges should be brought against her but won't happen in this case being that it's a civil case and not a criminal case. Sadly laws must be followed during trial even when it's become obvious that someone is guilty or not during the course of the trial.

These are Johnny's witnesses. So, it makes sense, however, I don't think, even when it's Amber's witnesses, that Johnny's team will be as rude or grating on them, because it looks bad to the jury.

This is not a case of whose guilty or innocent- It is a civil case of who wronged --who. Depp's lawyer is building and proving his charges of defamation against Ms.Heard, and the jury will determine if he should or should not receive money damages...!
Johnny Depp lawyers can supeona the original written drafts and correspondence between heard's lawyers and representative's and heard regarding Johnny Depp,'s name was added and removed. This can be proven. There's a clear proven paper trail

This is highly damning, IMHO. No way around this, really. It proves whom the op-ed was actually about--irrespective of Depp's name not being mentioned in the end. If memory serves, for this type of case, proving he is the basis for the op-ed, or to whom it makes reference, should be enough.

This not only implies that this op-ed was specifically about Johnny Depp, which this case is mostly revolving around according to her attorney earlier in the trial (that he has to prove that this op-ed was about him and damaged him), but also shows that Amber Heard had malicious intent when doing this op-ed. There's so much damage that this is going to cause to her case and I hope the Jury is REALLY paying attention here.

My mother is a beautiful, charning, high heels type woman, but she arrived like she was 100 years old and talking very slow and low - the picture of an abused senior. By the end of the meeting she was back to her true self: arrogant, annoyed, irritated, angry, defiant, etc. These people cannot sustain the "poor me" performance for too long and break down under pressure.

Ya, he's probably not going to win the case, but at least everyone knows what really happened and they are backing him now. The problem is that if the jury finds that he abused her even once, verbally or emotionally, then they can't find her liable for defamation, because she wasn't lying. This case isn't specifically for physical abuse.
Imagine feeling so entitled as to lie about donating to charity because you're "not a gold digger," and then feeling so above the law that you would lie to a court (under oath) that you already paid that 7 million to the charities. That's what she did! JD couldn't get those charities to show their donations. Reports say she never even made ONE payment to the Children's Hospital LA!

@@Mmmkay10 this is true. The jury here essentially have to decide if any of JD’s behaviour constitutes abuse no matter what anyone thinks of AH’s behaviour.
Depp is using the case to expose Heard for which I, personally am delighted and will be interested to see if studios etc react to the news in the same way they would if Heard were male. Warner Bros haven’t yet, which is slower than studios usually react to allegations against a male.
But all that doesn’t mean Depp will win the case. Which isn’t really about Heard at all.

Because she did from the beginning. She used makeup for “proof” that JD did all this when the following day right after each one they were gone. Make up tan hide a bruise but not as well as we all think. I tried to cover up bruises with makeup. It doesn’t entirely work but it will somewhat hide it. It’s also really easy to make bruises with makeup. Even an actor can do it him/her self. I know this because I went to beauty school and I learned all of this before I had a medical emergency and had to drop out. All you need is a eyeshadow palette that has red black multiple blue shades some pinks and a nude color as well, a blush brush and an eyeshadow brush. The just use the colors to make your bruise. And use the blush brush to get rid of any dirt or left over colors. It’s simple may take a few trials before you get it to what you want it to look like but you get the point.

The lawsuit is about defamation per se, meaning Johnny Depp has to prove the article in the Washington Post was about him, was written by Amber Heard (or partially written by her) and that the statements made by Amber were false. As this is defamation per se (accusation of criminal behaviour), Depp doesn't need to prove damages, however proving damages increases the likelyhood of compensation.
The ACLU could be considered being in Amber Heard camp, so this testimony can pretty much be taken as true. Most of what Johnny's team has done is try to prove that Amber lied about domestic violence. It's the hardest part to tick off, but but it's the only part that hasn't been proven.
