Every day Greg Miller, Tim Gettys, and Nick Scarpino talk about the biggest stories in nerd culture.
I love how long this was! Keep it up! This was dope.
Thanks! We will! - Greg
Kinda Funny Absolutely agree. Even though we’ve all seen this movie a few times it’s nice to go this in depth again and how it holds up both retrospectively then, as well as now. Kudos! 👏🏻🥃
This tweet has aged poorly now that they're 2 1/2 hours!
@@KBABZ LMAO make em even longer! 😉
Love the subtle conversations of Andy and Greg deciding to have a side podcast to rank the villains. Not realizing the monster they will have created over the next three years
Big fan of the post credit teaser
That end credits scene was perfect!
I'm really glad you guys came up with this show idea, it's a fantastic first episode and I'm excited to watch along with y'all.
Tony Stark was indeed aware of Captain America at the time of Iron Man. There's a line in Civil War that's something along the lines of "My father always mentioned that he knew you. God, I hated you."
Correct, glad I wasn’t the only one who remembered about the line in Civil War hahaha!!
This. I also understood that Captain America, The Howling commando's and their adventures were known and accepted in America's WW2 History.
Also in Avengers “that’s the guy my dad wouldn’t shut up about “
And when he shows up in the incredible hulk he mentions the super soldier program
Tony knew all about Captain America because his Dad talked about him all the time. This is referenced a few times in other films. So the shield was probably just an Easter egg originally but in terms of the universe it could have just been another prototype shield Howard Stark had worked on. Great review even, if I completely disagree with Tim on the pacing! Can't wait to see more!
So I’m coming back to watch this 6 years later,RDJ was just announced as Dr Doom last night and I completely forgot these episodes weren’t always 2 hours long lmao
I love that you guys are doing this. Making that build-up hype for Infinity War so real!
This is awesome. The normal reacts and reviews are great, but this deep discussion is the kind of nerdy stuff I love.
Tony mentions that his Dad used always tell him about Captain America in Civil War. Great video.
I love the long conversation! Please keep this length and detail going!
Woah what a suprise, cant wait to listen to this. Was just rewatching ur logan review
Loved this. Just rewatched Iron man and then immediately went to this. Pumped for this series.
TONAAAAAAYY
Post credits scene loooool
I'm foolishly attempting to rewatch all In Reviews in a somewhat timely manner. 337 videos, with like 10 hrs just in the Justice League videos lol
Tony knows who Cap is. He mentions this to him in Avengers, in regards to his father, Howard, never shutting up about him. He has no choice but to know who Cap is. His father is a co creator of "Cap". Cap's not "fictional" in the MCU world. He's pretty much known in the MCU. Also, the Shield isn't a real shield. It's a prototype. Cap's real shield is frozen with him in the Valkyrie in the Arctic.
You all are doing a brilliant job planning. This show is the result of a lot of thought and consideration for what your fans want. I am very excited to watch every episode.
Thanks, Nick! - Greg
Thank you!
I have honestly wanted to do this myself and I’m so glad I have this. It’s so good. The length is great. Tim being the fan boy has all the fun facts. Keep it up!!!
Yensin makes a cameo in the beginning of Iron Man 3 and I didn't realize it until I rewatched it a couple of days ago, so cool
Can we have a post credits scene for each of these episodes?
Keep up the great work, ya'll. This was fantastic!
The music at the beginning gets me hooked
Winter Soldier is still the MCUs best, but my god is Iron Man still a triumph! Feige did have this giagantic and ambitious plan, and started with an, at the time, B-list hero who was probably the least known among the 4 main avengers. That's nuts!
People now love to (understandably) talk about Diana and Steve's relationship in WW, but Iron Man did it before them 10 years ago. They just nailed it. Just a great movie all around. The score, visuals, action, and character development are all outstanding.
Iron Man and Captain America were the most popular Avengers. Arguably, he was the most popular during the 80's and 90's, because his character went through less retcons than Captain America. Check your facts.
EgocentricHead I know this is last is late and all but I think Thor and hulk were the more popular one cause back then it was Spider-Manas number one, hulk number two, and wolverine number three then Thor captain America and then Ironman in tow hence why the trinity through popularity was Spider-Man, hulk, and wolverine
Tony knows about cap more than an ordinary person would because his father, Howard was friends with Steve. Growing up, tony was constantly in Steve’s shadow as his father admired cap.
What an awesome idea for a series. Great episode, guys!
I understand scheduling is very difficult but man this series would have been good as a watch along where we just hit play at the same time. I watched Iron Man yesterday and it's easy to forget how many great moments this movie has after all the other MCU films to date. Even after having Iron Man in so many films just him picking the colors, the first flight, shooting the tank, saying "I am Iron Man" at the end...I was giddy every single time! This review was good. I love how long it was and can see it getting better after a couple of episodes.
Just a note about Tony knowing cap and having a prototype shield. Tony states in CA: Civil War that his dad Howard would talk about knowing Steve “all the time”, so much that it annoyed Tony. My theory is that the shield we see is Tony’s attempt to make a cap shield himself. The real vibranium cap shield being frozen with Steve at this time means it’s not the actual shield.
Oh, and I love this idea for this series. Can’t wait to watch them all!
Guys, I have watched all these videos 4 times over. Its safe to say I enjoyed them. Brilliant stuff.
Just started the video, cant wait to listen. Been so excited for this when you announced this show!!
Iron Man does know Captain America at this point. If you remember in Civil War, Iron Man said that his dad talked about Cap all the time
This is a rad show idea. I'm stoked for the next year of this!
So I also rewatched the movie and after roughly 10 years and have found a new appreciation for the movie. Back in the day, I actually watched the movie when it came out on DVD half a year later (as well as The Incredible Hulk) and I liked the reality-based approach that it had compared to other movies at the time like the X-Men, Spider-Man or the Batman movies. It was a movie that tried to explain a superhero from a real world perspective and tries to reason how a super-rich, super-intelligent billionaire, playboy, philantropist devotes his time and money to create this superhero identity of Iron Man... and this is beautifully captured in this one scene where he sees the rocket with the Stark Industry logo exploding in front of him, cut to his face and you see this simple WTF expression of RDJ... He sees that others can exploit and steal the creations that he has invented and use it for evil things and he has to step up his game to counter his previous ideas, thus resulting in him creating the Iron Man suit... Comparing that to his DC counterpart, i.e. Batman, who is basically the person because he saw his parents being killed by some random criminal in a back alley... but in the initial creation moment, I don't get why he would need to build a Batcave, Batmobile, Batwing, or other Bat-Tech thingy to counter a certain enemy, I mean he could just rely on doing some crossfit and that's it. Also, I would totally get a Batman v Superman situation where Batman would have been a small by-night vigilante until he sees someone like Superman appearing and thinking to himself: Well, this thing that I have been doing for the last 20 years or so was working for low-level guys like the Joker or Penguin, but I am instantly dead against an alien being such as this, so THEN he would build a Batcave, Batmobile or Batwing. But that's just me. Otherwise I love Batman :-)
If I think about it, that's basically the main idea why Spider-Man: Homecoming worked as a movie and the Vulture worked as an awesome villain. Peter Parker just happens to have some superpowers but he also boosts them up with his own inventions like spider-webs. And when he gets this big toolbox from Tony Stark, i.e. his suit, he tries to get to know each and every detail of it. Same on the other side, when Adrian Toomes needs to step up his game in order to compete against the Iron Mens, the Thors and Hulks of this world, by stealing and reverse-engineering Chitauri technology, because that's what everybody is trying to do from now on in this world. This is what Toomes also seperates from Obadiah Stane. The twist in the middle of the movie does not make much sense in hindsight, where he has been a father-figure for most of the movie until you see him basically become the guy who has been starting this whole chain of events because he wanted to gain control over the company by killing Tony Stark by means of leaking military information and weapons to terrorists. And I don't get why he basically commits treason just in order to become CEO with full ownership of the company. While on the other hand Toomes is the villain of the entire movie until BOOM he is the father of Peter Parker's love interest, which is a much more compelling story.
Speaking of realism: back in the first movies of the MCU, the Marvel movies still had support from the military, i.e. they could shoot around real military institutions, airplanes, fighter jets... until the Avengers when they were cancelling their support because of the depiction of the military when they wanted to nuke NYC (if I remember correctly). I think this kind or realism is something that I'm missing in the current movies. They have been stretching the realms of realism so far up until today where Tony Stark would just pitch an addition to his next suit to his personal AI which would then create and build the suit for him, i.e. the sense of creation and experimentation is missing. Granted, Iron Man 3 and Spider-Man: Homecoming had elements of this, but it is lacking from most of the other movies, especially when they are dealing with other-worldly stuff like Guardians or Thor.
Furthermore, I am a huge fan of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and this somehow feels like a prequel to Agents, where we follow the adventures of Agent Coulson and this somehow has Tony Stark as a special guest star in it... But I think that's just me :-)
Also shout out to the awesome soundtrack of Ramin Djawadi (who also happens to be the composer of Game of Thrones, etc.), I really liked that metal influence in the score that I somewhat missed in the following movies, where it was just being replaced by random inserts of AC/DC.
God, that post went on far too long, so I should stop now. But keep up those reviews, and I really, really liked that post-credit scene :-)
That intro caused spontaneous combustion in my pants :)
Tony and Rhodes have known each other at least for years! Stark says in the film something about Rhodes sleeping with a woman back in spring break in 1987!!!
It’s so cool you guys are doing this! I have been watching all the marvel movies and trying to get through some of the TV shows for the past few weeks. I also have been collecting the Blu ray steelbooks.
I swear the first chat they have about this movie happened on a GoG topic at some point, I remember Tim saying about both movies playing at the same time and Gregg had to look it up on his phone during the episode.
I'm behind but I'm working my way back through all the marvel movies and starting at the beginning, and looking forward to watching along through your reviews!
Love the idea of this show!
Ironman is one of the best MCU movies for sure.
I absolutely loved this guys!
My wife and I are watching them each week as well, and it's awesome to have your take on the series. Much love from Florida
I wasn't sure if I was going to like this show but as soon as the Jeff Bridges impersonations started I couldn't stop laughing! Bravo!
TONY!
I like the deep discussion and all of the "did you know" type facts, made it super interesting and fresh
Coming back in 2019, endgame is in 18 days. The hype is real. Gotta go back to where it all began babyy
Is this the first episode of In Review? I’m trying to find the order of all In Review
This was everything I hoped it would be! Great job guys.
I became a KF fan around the beginning of 2021. Beginning my journey through all of the marvel in review!
I love looking back at the og In Review and realizing everything is exactly the same even if the graphics get upgraded. ❤
Can't wait to see the rest. Great stuff guys. Awesome idea, might do the same.
He knew who cap was, “ so this is the guy my dad wouldn’t shut up about” in avengers
I was going to do an MCU rewatch myself anyway but glad you guys decided to do this show. Will be following along every week! :D
iron man review: STARTED IT ALL BAYBAY!!
A Knacksterpiece!
Was planning on rewatching the MCU in review and i think I’m most excited to see Greg’s beard grow across the various videos.
I like the thing you did at the end!! ;)
I love this guys! Keep up the good work! I really love Tim’s “fun facts”!
I love everything about this show.
I forgot how much I enjoyed this movie, I started off watching it just in the background but it grabbed me early and I had to go watch it on my big screen. So cool that MCU started with this movie cant wait to see more.
Tony knew who Captain America was. Tony talks about how his dad wouldn't shut up about Steve. Howard Stark helped create Cap.
Those Obadiah impressions were great😂😂
I love that you’re doing this. I’m starting to rewatch them all too!
Started an MCU rewatch tonight and rewatching KF MCU In Review along the way!
Greg’s story about Loki just made me laugh out loud. I imagined Jeff Bridges being like the Team Rocket of the MCU 😅
Any chance these MCU in review episodes could be posted in podcast format too?? Love that you guys are doing this either way! =]
It's so fitting that Iron Man is the first In Review that kicked off an absolute behemoth of a series
Hey, since you guys don't do many movie review series, I would suggest maybe taking a page out of a podcast that has been going for years called "Now Playing." You all can even shout them out for credit. But basically, I think it helps if you have someone read an in depth plot summary first. It seems the host of this show is Nick, so before the tangents and such happen, Nick could read through the entire plot summary for people that haven't seen the movies and the middle of the show could be you all discussing specific sequences, like you did. Then the interesting facts and such could follow at the end. I think organization like that would make the discussion just a tad bit more coherent. Thanks for the content guys!
In what way is Nick the host? Tim opens the show, and leads the whole discussion and lists facts.
You know what, totally right. Just a mistake.
#lettimhost
It's incredible how far the MCU has come. Watched Iron Man today and the trailer for Infinity War right after.
It felt surreal to think that it has all lead to this.
KEEP THAT DAMN BEARD GOING GREG! Also, loved this video.. can't wait for the rest.
Love this entirely, can't wait to see the other movies you go through, i'll be doing the challenge as well of watching each movie in order each week. Keep up the good work boys.
Great idea guys! Looking forward to this series.
This is going to be a great series! Couple of things to suggest. I'm sure he just forgot, but I think whenever Kevin talks (which is great, it should be a conversation with all 5 of you guys) he should turn his camera on. Also, I would like a bit more conversation about seeing the movie NOW and how feelings changed from the original viewing. Overall I'm all in and I can't wait for next week!
Great stuff.. keep it the same kinda length throughout 👌🏿
"TONYYYYYYY!!"
I'll need Greg to do any impression of ever Villain going forward.
This was great cant wait to watch the rest of them
Great ending and a fun discussion. I haven't seen all of the Marvel movies so this will me a reason to catch up. Brb gotta rewatch 'Iron Man' on Hulu now.
Holy shit. It's been so long since I've seen this and seeing beardless Greg feels strange lol
Greg, the world knows Clark is Banner. They specifically mention in Age of Ultron about calling for Banner's arrest.
Captain America had a museum. In Captain America: Winter Soldier, Cap goes to his own museum in a baseball cap to check stuff out, and gives a little nod to a kid. So the world definitely knew about Captain America.
That museum wasn't created until after the events of The Avengers. The Super Soldier Serum was a classified secret at this time; only high-ranking officials were aware Captain America was super-powered/enhanced.
This is y'alls best idea in a long time, keep it up!
I really love the intro and the effort made to make it liken the Marvel intro. Too cool. Also red is my favorite color so the whole thing loooooks doooooope.
Tony did know who Cap was, his dad talked to him about Cap as a kid
I’m very excited about this show! I’ve only seen a few of the MCU movies, so I find this the perfect excuse to go through them all. Great episode! That post-credits scene!!!
Oof, those wooden walls with the brown Marvel image on the video wall. The theme is crisp!
TOE-NAYYYY! this was great lol
In Civil War, Tony told Steve his father wouldn't shut up about him. So he knew about him.
THAT END CREDIT SCENE IS PERFECT! Also, this is a great excuse for me to watch all the movies again. I love hearing your guys' take right after I watch the movie. Also also, Xyger doesn't know shit about good movies.
I now expect a post-credit scene after every Kinda Funny podcast
Am I rewatching this whole thing after watching Endgame last night? You’re god damn right I am.
I kind love Obediah. They did not give him enough exposition but frankly i think he might be me favorite Iron man villain, if you just look at the the stand-alone movies. Granted i think the problem with Iron man is that he kind of has to deal with weak villains character wise but i kind of dug menacing Jeff Bridges.
Also i never got the impression that he was an ''rational'' business guy. He is clearly quit creepy early on in the movie. And frankly i find a character like him (high powered CEO often share treats with psychopaths) more believable then the cartoonish fobs in Iron man 2 and 3.
I do agree that the pacing at the later third of the movie was off. I think it mostly had to do with budget constrains (frankly the budget was quit small, especially considering the technical limitations at that time). Still this is probably my favorite Iron Man movie (out of the three).
Tony did know that Captain America was real. In Civil War he says to Steve: "Oh did you know my father? He only mentioned it a thousand times. God I hated you."
i love these!! Great work guys! Never stop stopping!
Marvel made The Incredible Hulk movie. Universal simply got the distribution rights due to their earlier deal. So the rest of the MCU Phase 1 movies were distributed by Paramount but Hulk alone went to Universal. But they were all produced by Marvel Studios.
Alright I love this so much. I'm currently watching the entire MCU including the TV shows in chronilogical order. This series will be fun to listen to each week. Thanks for this
Fantastic show guys, really looking forward to the rest 👌😁
Sisqo!
love this series you guys, keep it up! and great post credits sequence X)
Exactly!
Had no idea who this guy was save for a throwaway line in BASEketball that told me everything I needed to know.
"Who the fuck is Iron Man?"
"He's a quippy alcoholic who got rich as an international arms dealer."
"Okay, that sounds a little lame... Who are they casting in the part?"
"Robert Downey Jr.."
"You gotta be shitting me."
11 years later.
Just "3000" is enough to illicit a genuine emotional response. 3000...thats crazy.
Not only that... But in Iron Man 2, the guy literally walks out on stage and straight up brags about how flawless that casting actually IS, and dressed it in the context of the scene.
This movie holds up. Some character motivations don't make sense and it isn't immaculately shot or scored, but the onscreen chemistry of the main characters is always entertaining and there's enough going on with Tony to keep you invested in the story. I wish it would've avoided the big, bombastic final boss moment and just stuck with Tony chasing down his old weaponry through out Act 3; the company conflict doesn't make sense when it materializes as abald andbearded founder exploding his building to kill his partners son. A more understated ending surrounding Tonys personal vendetta would have been more impactful. Around a 7/10 for me.
I think Tony knows about the captain America shield because it would be in his father's notes. Howard probably digitised the notes as well.
The set looks awesome 💪👌
wow these started so "short" (40 mins)
The first Iron Man will always hold a special place in my heart. I saw this movie 4 times in theaters.
The Incredible Hulk was produced by Marvel and Valhalla and it was distributed by Universal. Almost all of the movies till Iron Man 3 had multiple studios involved.
As far as that end scene, wasn't it referenced in another movie or one shot or something that those cards were written/worded specifically in a way that Tony would deny the story and just come out with "I am Iron Man"?? I feel like that's how SHIELD intended that press conference to go.
