    At 24:02 you say it's sec-butyl because it's connected to a previously secoundary carbon. My quesstion is if the long chain connects to the other secoundary carbon ( right next to the carbon where you drawed the conection in the video) whould it have the same name ? Because it is a structuraly different molecule.

    for acetic acid , why are both oxygens attached to the carbon ? without looking at your solution i would have drawn one oxygen triple bound to carbon and the other OH bound to the oxygen, thats how i figured from the condesned formula. Or ist that not favoured because of the electronegativity of the oxygens ? 12:40

    For acetic acid, from the condensed formula, how can one know, if one didn't know beforehand, that we don't have CH3-C-O=OH ? Or
    CH3-C=O-OH?
    How can you tell CH3COOCH3 does not have a single bond to O, O, CH3, and Ch3?

    • @athar_adv
      @athar_adv 2 года назад

      You can figure it out by figuring it out how many bonds atoms like to form and the maximum of how they can form
      CH3 bonds to a C atom, the carbon in the metyhl group is satisfied with 4 bonds (3 hydrogen 1 carbon).
      The next carbon is single bonded to the ester substituent with a single bond because that oxygen is bonded to another oxygen wich is bonded to a hydrogen (so both oxygen have 2 bonds and wont make anymore, and the hydrogen is also satisfied).

    • @athar_adv
      @athar_adv 2 года назад

      There will be no double bonds in methyl ethanoate because all atoms are satisfied with their bonds
