3:50 this brief moment sounds extremely close to Vangelis on "Beaubourg”, which is a huge CS-80 ringmod fest, I love it so much! I've actually been saying to myself I was going to buy Current when they add ringmod - now they have, and I think I will. Surprisingly few synths come with it today, (Looking at you, Vital, Dune, etc.) It’s true, though, that it can be one small thing that’s special about a synth - I for one am totally fixated on Vital’s ability to put stereo mod on almost everything, how great is that and why isn’t it required by law on all synths? Love having the mod matrix as well, and being able to filter it is a really nice addition. Plus I really like the UI of all plugins by Minimal - it’s clear, consistent, logical and very usable, but also looks cool to me. Usually you get either one or the other but when it’s great, it’s great, and kudos are deserved.
They've finally figured out pricing and competition! I’ve been waiting for the price to drop to $99. That said, I still prefer Phase Plant, Pigments, and Halion 7. What are your top 3 synths?
I'm am deep in to wavetables lately so Current, Pigment, the trusty Massive-X and Phase Plant are my go to system at the moment. I do want to look at this new VST too. I forgot the name. A combination of Wavetable and FM engines..
I bought Current when everyone was mad at the developers because of the poor subscription-only original rollout as I thought it would wind up being an 'obscure' synth like Parawave Rapid or Tone2 Icarus. With something like Serum I feel I can’t possibly come up with anything original cuz so many people are using it. I'm glad I did as I use Current all the time. I love that the envelope segments can be synced to, for example, quarter note values. As was mentioned in the video the effects are perhaps more important than with any other synth. They’re a major part of the sound design opportunities.
Great synth and at half price is worth it, IMO. Not sure it’s a must buy if you have any of the other popular wave table synths but it has a sound of its own because of the effects.😊
I do like the look of this one but I have enough on my plate (I just bought Falcon). I also have Pigments and the Wavestate vst. Currently waiting for Bitwig to get a bit cheaper to reinstate my license for Studio... and keeping my eye on Novum as that appeals a lot. I really need to rein it in and apply myself to what I have lol. Great review as ever mate. 🖖🎶💯😊
I've had all the FX for a while and love them, Now, Current has been added to the menu and am looking forward to giving a good workout. Alex , I am a little surprised that Ghost isn't in your top 5 list. Also, a great synth, however, a little heavy on the CPU Current-Ly 😁
Being able to use Current as an FX unit would be a great addition as well. Though it's doubtable they will ever implement this feature, because of the FX being sold seperately.
@@AlexReidStudios Not a bad idea, but hopefully at no extra cost then. I played around a bit with the upgraded version, there seems to be no possibility to modulate the morph parameters in the new playmode. Am i missing something?
i must not pay attention to their discord, because i didnt even know this was coming. pretty dope, i feel like it didnt take them that long to get a version 2 out. Also they seem to be pretty responsive in their discord whenever i have had questions

@@PeteGunnShow Thanks Peter i just tried it and indeed update mentioned and free, they woke up , i use all of their FX vst's but current mmh i have Falcon, Phaseplant and V-collection and perhaps they all feel much better for a synth , but is my opinion of cours
@Italliving absolutely, its all about what works best for you. I probably have the most hours in phaseplant, but lately pigments and current have been my goto. It depends on what I want to do. If I want to get really crazy with high quality effects I choose current. If I want a fast simple patch it's pigments. If I want to make the most insane and complex patches i can imagine I chose phaseplant or vps avenger lol I have too many synths
@antgreen3254 maybe ill have to give trash another try. I felt like the advanced editor mode in rift gave me much more control than trash. But maybe I missed something. I didnt even realize rift had an advanced editor panel the first few months I had it tho, so im not the most observant lol
@@AlexReidStudios The RTO pricing has a bit of a "gotcha" - I have $137 in credits, but you can't use them on any sales or bundles. So I used Paypal Pay In 4 (so $25/pay check, every two weeks). $100 and a year of All Access saves me $80 paying for All Access, but I'm not building credit, of course. It also lowered my All Software Bundle cost basis by the $134 that Current does if you have it and want the bundle, so all in all it ended up being a good deal
Its also now on Splice rto, which people seem to like for Serum, but I don’t know why you’d want to pay 10 bucks a month for Current for almost two years in Splice when you could pay 15 dollars a month for Minimal’s all access and own Current in a year.
I mean it's a cpu hog the sound is almost never static so you cant get the same sound two times , this alone makes the synth unusable for me and priced at 200 dollars i would just get serum honestly unless they fix the static issue and you have a ryzen 7 5000 series or above or an i7 12th gen or above i wouldnt buy it but everyone has the right to waste their money how they want
@@AlexReidStudios Falcon is way more packed and complex than what current will ever be and i can do patches with it that are ultra high quality with barely no cpu usage on an ancient i7 7700 K i know i should upgrade but i cant afford 500 euros for a motherboard and a good cpu now so i value synths that are well coded efficient and complex the excuse you said about it having too many features doesnt make up for bad coding 86 percent cpu for a bass sound i can make in massive from 2006 which i also own there's no excuse but people that run industries , brands or simply sell a product or service just wanna make money without investing much we see that alot in hosteleria and turism in south spain ( restaurants and hotels ) they offer low quality food , low or medium quality hotel rooms for extremely high prices ) all i have to say as Bob Marley said you can fool some people sometimes but you cant fool all the people all the time ; ) eventually people notice feel scamed and stop cashing out

@@AlexReidStudios I have to agree on that. I'm on the RTO program as well. It's nice to be able to use their FX on other stuff as wel.
