Here's what a muslima says when it comes to the real islamic concept of truth. The actual quran verse on it: O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allāh, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives. Whether one is rich or poor, Allāh is more worthy of both.1 So follow not [personal] inclination, lest you not be just. And if you distort [your testimony] or refuse [to give it], then indeed Allāh is ever, of what you do, Aware. Quran 4:135. Before searching for hate in one scholar's explanation of what one single word means it's better to view the entire picture. And to not seek hate but to seek truth and peace before this destroys you more as a human.

@@safiyyahumar3915. Islam has always been an expansionist ideology , that Muslims are not allowed to leave. That's why Muslims are commended to fight Chrisitians and to put them under Islamic hegemony. Muhhamed . And that's why Muslims dream of a new Caliphate so they can renew their expansionist wars again.
According to Abdullaah ibn 'Umar, a companion of Muhammad, “Allaah’s Messenger, sallallaahu ʻalayhi wa sallam, said, ‘I have been ordered (by Allaah) to fight against the people until they testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allaah and that Muhammad is Allaah’s Messenger, offer the prayers perfectly, and give the obligatory charity, so if they perform all that, then they save their lives and property from me.’” (Bukhari: vol. 1, bk. 2, no. 24)
According to Islam the world is divided into the House of Islam and the House of War, the Dar al-Islam and the Dar al-harb. The Dar al-Islam is all those lands in which a Muslim government rules and the Holy Law of Islam prevails. Non-Muslims may live there on Muslim sufferance. The outside world, which has not yet been subjugated, is called the "House of War," and strictly speaking a perpetual state of jihad, of holy war, is imposed by the law. The law also provided that the jihad might be interrupted by truces as and when appropriate. In fact, the periods of peace and war were not vastly different from those which existed between the Christian states of Europe for most of European history.
The law thus divides unbelievers theologically into those who have a book and profess what Islam recognizes as a divine religion and those who do not; politically into dhimmis, those who have accepted the supremacy of the Muslim state and the primacy of the Muslims, and harbis, the denizens of the Dar al-harb, the House of War, who remain outside the Islamic frontier, and with whom therefore there is in principle, a canonically obligatory perpetual state of war until the whole world is either converted or subjugated.

      @The Fisherman
Let me explain to you, but sorry if my english is bad
First i respect you because you did a research and not just follow what media told to you
For example, you can lie to your wife its just like when your wife cook and had a bad taste but you still tell her that her cook is delicious to please her, or when you had a bad day at work but you didnt tell to your wife to make her not sad too, that what it means "to please her" , but if you lie becuse cheating or being unfaithfull that is called jinna, and if you had 4 witness that see you do jinna, in sharia law you will stoned to death in public
You cannot maried again without permision from your wife, once companions of prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him) named Ali was asked by poor family to marry their poor daughter and Ali agreed without tell her wife first, but her wife find out and then she come to prophet and tell him what happen, later on he called Ali and tell him that he cant married again without his wife permision, then Ali canceled the marriage
Lie during war, every empire lie during war, like you hide your archer behind the hill, or your cavelry leave the field but it comes that just go around to trick the enemies, even in WW2 american keep tell false information on the air to trick the enemies, or send spy and you already know what spy do, spy job is to get information and lie to the enemy about his identity, nowadayas its called tactic/stratgey
Lie to stop people to hurt each other, its just like when you see someone being tortured and you lie that police is on the way to make the attacker stop, or when you see someone had been beaten then runaway and hide in your property, you can lie that the person is not hiding on your property to protect him
Beyond that 3 cases, lie is prohibited like lie tou your parents, partner, friend, including lie when you do dawah is prohibited
Hope that answer your question, sorry for my english -_-

Nonie Darwish is an ex muslim from Egypt and she explains the total opposite of our cultural values in islam. The muslims, or even ex muslims who try and argue that many (or most if they are practicing takiyya) muslims don't really know the koran or aren't practicing takiyya because they don't know what it is, or the other excuse is it's the other sect of islam, are ignoring that truthtelling isn't a muslim trait. She explains that telling the truth can get you killed in islam, and that they not only hide their sins, they think we are the real sinners and the proof is we admit it. Also, that muslims of any sect will do anything to protect and further the cause of islam. It's programmed into them since birth. So even if the sun moon and stars and they don't use takiyya specifically, it's still baked into the "religion" and everything about the culture that springs from the religion.

@Zack Smith Try some reforming techniques in your community where it is most needed. But wait...is it even possible??

    • @CattleCluj
      @CattleCluj 5 лет назад

@Zack Smith Well, how would you call an entire community who has to deceive themselves, delude themselves, and lie to themselves, in order to believe in an ideology? What I said in my previous comment, I would consider it to be a statement of fact. And here's why, even though, I can understand why people are doing that, and I can also understand that each individual is free to believe in anything they want. Flat Earthers believe that the Earth is flat, don't they? And there's no problem with that. Until such people decide to preach to other people, the ideology they managed to delude themselves into. That's when the problems arise. Because preaching to other people an ideology one has to delude themselves into believing, will inevitably make them preach lies and falsehoods.
The thing is, that there are no rational reasons to unquestionably believe in any ideology, be it political or religious. There are however, emotional reasons to do so, but emotions are subjective and are not quantifiable. As such, emotions are not a valid way to uphold statements of fact, like the ones that come with a dogmatic ideology. This is why I say that one has to lie to themself in order to unquestionably believe in an ideology, because of the emotional roots, rather than rational roots of their belief system. And this is why I say that a person who preaches such a belief system, or such an ideology, will inevitably end up lying and/or emotionally manipulate the person to whom they're preaching.

Ambiguity, double-speak (equivocation), & ESPECIALLY using sentences which can be interpreted in multiple ways with equal justification b/c of to some deliberate defect in the grammar, sentence structure, and punctuation or both [amphiboly]. ***Simple meanings are corrected grammar with proper punctuation based on the phrases separated by prepositions. I’m a composition & literature professor. Grad students dissertation would be returned for editing, or maybe not even accepted if written w/ these kinds of errors!

The word "Taqiyya" literally means: "Concealing, precaution, guarding.” It is employed in disguising one's actual beliefs, intentions, convictions, ideas, feelings, opinions or strategies. In practical terms it is manifested as dissimulation ( saying one thing while meaning another), telling half truths, vexing with accusatuions of calumny, and confounding with evasions to foil non-believers. It is currently employed to make us beleive we are the bad guys and they the hapless victims no matter what harm they cause us.

As Abdullah says, I would think that those fire and brimstone preachers, jihadists, fundamentalist sheikhs etc are not committing "taqiyya" as it is quite obvious they are being brutally honest about what Islam has in store for non-believers and those who "stray from the right path"
I would also say that a VAST majority of muslims are just followers, are honestly convinced that their book is true and perfect and even if they (mistakenly) think it is good, they are honestly promoting their religion and are not intentionally lying, so they are not committing "taqiyya".
However I think there is probably a small proportion of dawaists who really are being intentionally dishonest about what their religion says in order to promote it to a western or non-muslim audience, and one person that springs to mind is Zakir Naik, who falls right into this category. I think he is silver tongued and I think he really does know the absurdities and obscenities in the scriptures and is intentionally lying, so he IS committing "taqiyya". I am sure that there are others but Naik is the most famous.

There are many Christians and Jews who also sugar coat their religions so this does not only apply to Islam. I don;t think that everyone is hiding in the Trojan Horse, and I guess that most Christians, Muslims and Jews are un-informed, are nice people trying to ignore the bad verses because they might be embarrassed by them. I think only a small sliver of preachers are really trying the intentionally dishonest tactic of taqiyya or its equivalent in other religions.

Also, it seems like a convenient excuse; "The other side will never tell the truth because they have been taught not too". No different from what happened to Jews, Japanese Americans, Black Africans in America etc. etc. Classic genocidal and violent traits.

Whenever I have spoken to a Muslim, you can never feel like you know them. They talk about surface subjects and when you ask them about their life or anything deep they start to act slippery, it's a certain slippery behavior that you see and hear from those who are dishonest/ ashamed, have something to hide or simply do not like you... probably all off them to some extent, in this case. And yes they can even seem nice and friendly on the surface! like really likable BUT they are not your friend, not deep down, they are not your friend in their heart. They have a cold place set for you in their heart but a warm place set for general interactions because it makes their life easier and they can deceive you whenever convenient.

Qur'an (16:106) - Establishes that there are circumstances that can "compel" a Muslim to tell a lie in order to defeat the non believers.
Bukhari (49:857) - "He who makes peace between the people by inventing good information or saying good things, is not a liar." *Lying is permitted when the end justifies the means*
Bukhari (84:64-65) - Speaking from a position of power at the time, Ali confirms that lying is permissible in order to deceive an "enemy."
All those Muslims who deny the horrible tenets of the religion are simply lying to mislead people, as sanctioned by Islam (Taqiyya and kitman). Namaste

I would tell people all the time when I was Muslim the truth about my understanding of Islam on jihad or whatever. The moment I would say something that contradicted their preconceived notion, it was me practicing taqqiyah. Did you know you can make tayammum vs. a shower? I read it in the Quran today and we use it on Fridays at my mosque. Tayammum is ablution with dust/earth. It is more about the process of inner purification.

There are parts of the Quran that say you can lie:
Quran (16:106) - Establishes that there are circumstances that can "compel" a Muslim to tell a lie.
Quran (3:28) - This verse instructs believers not to take those outside the faith as friends, unless it is to "guard themselves" against danger, meaning that there are times when a Muslim may appear friendly to non-Muslims, even though they should not feel friendly.
Quran (9:3) - "...Allah and His Messenger are free from liability to the idolaters..." The dissolution of oaths is with pagans who remained at Mecca following its capture. They did nothing wrong, but were evicted anyway. (The next verse refers only to those who have a personal agreement with Muhammad as individuals - see Ibn Kathir vol 4, p 49)
Quran (66:2) - "Allah has already ordained for you the dissolution of your oaths..." For today's reader, the circumstances for betraying your word are not specified, leaving this verse open to interpretation. According to Yusuf Ali in his commentary: "if your vows prevent you from doing good, or acting rightly, or making peace between persons, you should expiate the vow." (Presumably, whatever advances the cause of Islam would qualify as 'doing good').
Quran (40:28) - A man is introduced as a believer, but one who had to "hide his faith" among those who are not believers.
Quran (2:225) - "Allah will not call you to account for thoughtlessness in your oaths, but for the intention in your hearts" (see also 5:89)
Quran (3:54) - "And they (the disbelievers) schemed, and Allah schemed (against them): and Allah is the best of schemers." The Arabic word used here for scheme (or plot) is makara, which means 'cunning,' 'guile' and 'deceit'. If Allah is supremely deceitful toward unbelievers, then there is little basis for denying that Muslims are allowed to do the same. (See also 8:30 and 10:21)

    Question:-
"What are the Ten Commandments? What is the Decalogue?"
    Answer:-
The Ten Commandments (also known as the Decalogue) are ten laws in the Bible that God gave to the nation of Israel shortly after the exodus from Egypt. The Ten Commandments are essentially a summary of the 613 commandments contained in the Old Testament Law. The first four commandments deal with our relationship with God. The last six commandments deal with our relationships with one another. The Ten Commandments are recorded in the Bible in Exodus 20:1-17 and Deuteronomy 5:6-21 and are as follows:
    1) “You shall have no other gods before me.” This command is against worshipping any god other than the one true God. All other gods are false gods.
    2) “You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.” This command is against making an idol, a visible representation of God. There is no image we can create that can accurately portray God. To make an idol to represent God is to worship a false god.
    3) “You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses His name.” This is a command against taking the name of the Lord in vain. We are not to treat God’s name lightly. We are to show reverence to God by only mentioning Him in respectful and honoring ways.
    4) “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.” This is a command to set aside the Sabbath (Saturday, the last day of the week) as a day of rest dedicated to the Lord.
    5) “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.” This is a command to always treat one’s parents with honor and respect.
    6) “You shall not murder.” This is a command against the premeditated murder of another human being.
    7) “You shall not commit adultery.” This is a command against have sexual relations with anyone other than one’s spouse.
    8) “You shall not steal.” This is a command against taking anything that is not one’s own, without the permission of the person to whom it belongs.
    9) “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.” This is a command prohibiting testifying against another person falsely. It is essentially a command against lying.
    10) “You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.” This is a command against desiring anything that is not one’s own. Coveting can lead to breaking one of the commandments listed above: murder, adultery, and theft. If it is wrong to do something, it is wrong to desire to do that same something.
Many people mistakenly look at the Ten Commandments as a set of rules that, if followed, will guarantee entrance into heaven after death. In contrast, the purpose of the Ten Commandments is to force people to realize that they cannot perfectly obey the Law (Romans 7:7-11), and are therefore in need of God’s mercy and grace. Despite the claims of the rich young ruler in Matthew 19:16, no one can perfectly obey the Ten Commandments (Ecclesiastes 7:20). The Ten Commandments demonstrate that we have all sinned (Romans 3:23) and are therefore in need of God’s mercy and grace, available only through faith in Jesus Christ. God Bless You Amen!

Reading /studying Islam in the west is considerably different than studying, living in an Islamic country and even reading The Quran in Arabic.
Sister is a term of respect, within Islamic culture. Not once in The Quran does it say sister is a term used for girlfriend. I mean seriously, women call each other sisters.
Taqqiyah is if your life is under threat for being a Muslim, you are allowed to deny you are a Muslim.
Telling half truths is more about protecting the image of Islam to outsiders. Islamic cultures generally are more conservative, less open too. Considering all the negative attention in the media also, its certainly understandable to be protective over your culture and religion, and to want people to see the good side.
At the end of the day, some people are decent human beings, and some are jerks.

I find religion fascinating and especially Islam. I spent much of my working life in an exclusively Muslim environment and studied it carefully by reading over 70 books including the Quran and explanations of it. I spent countless hours talking to Muslims and Imams and nearly married a beatiful and kind Muslim professional woman. Most of that time was spent in south east Asia where I have watched Malaysia and Brunei sink back not to where they started from but toward extreme Sharia interpretation and punishment. Brunei has just increased the number of offences for which stoning is the prescribed punishment and many parts of the laws apply to non Muslims too.
What's fascinating is that so many Muslims are welcoming their freedoms being taken away in both countries and three states in Malaysia are actively seeking the death sentence for apostacy. I see only one explanation for this. Both countries have young average ages and high birth rates and in both countries increasingly strict Islamic laws have been implemented over the last few decades. The boiling a frog metaphor explains perfectly what's happened/happening. It goes like this. If you put a frog in a pan of cold water and rapidly heat it the frog will sense what's happening and jump out. If you put the same frog in a pan and slowly raise the temperature it will just sit there without realising until it's cooked. The frogs are the Bruneians and Malays who will tell you the water is lovely and there isn't a problem.
This is a trend and trends tend to move forward and given the threats that now exist in the new laws who is brave enough to stop it? By the time the frogs realise what's actually happening it will be too late.
The Brunei royals pissed away much of their countries wealth on cars, aircraft and prostitutes. Oil revenues will drop and so too will the scraps thrown to the locals who currently think they're well off. The net worth of the Brunei royal family is far less than it was and will never recover. So, from their perspective everything makes sense and benefits them. Who's going to start objecting to a leader when a few wrong words could end up with the person saying them being stoned to death? Make no mistake, only one person decides what happens in Brunei.

We believe lie is major sin in islam.
We believe Muslim a believe can sin he can be coward. He can be anything.
But liar is not believe. That in hadith
Lying is one of the characteristics of the hypocrites, and it is a blameworthy trait which encourages one to commit evil and prevents one from doing good. Al-Bukhaari (6094) and Muslim (2607)
What the one who has lied must do - even if he told a single lie - is repent to Allah, may He be exalted. At-Tirmidhi (1973)
      Quran :25:68
And those who invoke not any other ilaah (god) along with Allah, nor kill such life as Allah has forbidden, except for just cause, nor commit illegal sexual intercourse and whoever does this shall receive the punishment”
Something similar may be said about the hadith of Safwaan ibn Sulaym: It was said to the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him): Can a believer be a coward?
      He said: “Yes.”
It was said to him: Can a believer be a miser?
      He said: “Yes.”
It was said to him: Can a believer be a liar?
      He said: “No.”
Narrated by Maalik (3630). It is mursal, and was classed as da‘eef by al-Albaani in Da‘eef at-Targheeb wa’t-Tarheeb (1752).

Burden of proof being on the claimant and all. Plus what if he got it from hadeeth? Do you even know how many hadeeth books are out there? There are literally like a million hadeeth. And then maybe it's not explicit in the Quran and it is in a tafsir or the statement of a scholar. Nonie Darwish, and ex muslim, and others like her have said that when they were muslims they chronically lied and thought nothing of it, esp. if it was for islam, but she did it for dumb things there was no apparent reason for too. She didn't break the habit of habitual lying until she converted to Christianity many years later. She's written a number of books and her last one is fascinating. It's all about the polar opposite cultural values and total culture clash of islam w/ the Christian based west. Look up any of her talks, they are fascinating. The newest ones talk about her latest book and these clashing value systems. Also about how much she lied as a muslim and not only the lengths they will go to to promote and protect islam, but also how telling the truth can get them punished or even killed w/ the brutality of sharia. A lot of muslims, esp. women, don't realize how much they lived in constant fear among their native cruel culture until they were set free from it.

Hi Susan. The term was cherry-picked from people looking to spread hate for islam. It came from a definition one scholar gave explaining the meaning of a single word. Here's what the Quran says on honesty: Quran 4:135 O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allāh, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives. Whether one is rich or poor, Allāh is more worthy of both.1 So follow not [personal] inclination, lest you not be just. And if you distort [your testimony] or refuse [to give it], then indeed Allāh is ever, of what you do, Aware.

With all respect, don't use Ilhan Omar's photo as a video thumbnail to get views. Respect and if you are honest, don't just try to please your "master race" but please yourself with some dignity. You are just contradicting and gluing islam with every bad thing you get and this shows only one thing and that's that you aren't free but sick instead. Why? Because, your arguments are gray areas or shubuhat, which is the unknown, unrelated or controversial which all religious scholars divered or not agreed. This is called "furu'" which are contrary to "asal" which mean the "miniscule branches" and the basic principles respectively. Every circle of life or moral principle has undefined gradient which is maliable and can be decided with intuition, guessing and weighing.
If you are criticing, then talk about the basic principles which defines islam. If you are a creator of misunderstanding, then you can talk about all controversial things and blow them up out of proportion but this only means that you are dishonest. This is what you are doing now.

My dadcame who is an extremely honest person came to get us to live with him but my mom wouldn't sign the school papers. My dad used taqiyyah with the school officials and got them to let them transfer us out of that school so we could go to a school near him. He used it to save us and that's what taqiyyah is about. Yes, there are scholar side notes about it. But there are scholar teachings that further explain lying is a grave sin. As in life, there are exception...such as ours. Another example of taqiyyah is, "baby, is your ex better in bed than me?" Answer: "You are the best!" (truth: spouse is terrible in bed but you still love them.) :D

Christian interpretation of Abraham lying about Sarah not being his wife, and other incidents has varied considerably. Some commentators have seen them as regrettable exceptions in the lives of those who otherwise lived upright lives, in the same sense perhaps as Noah's and Lot's drunkenness and David's adultery..
I like that Yahweh, when telling the story in the Bible, is not afraid to tell the truth about His people's sometimes regrettable behaviour! He tells the story, 'warts and all', as some say.. 👍
