The tune of this week is Undone in Sorrow, written and originally performed by Ola Belle Reed. Some of the more seasoned players around here may find the tune a bit simple, but for newer players like me I think it's an opportunity to learn a beautiful banjo song outside the old time canon.
"Undone in Sorrow" is a haunting and melancholic song that explores themes of loss, regret, and the enduring pain of a broken heart. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of a narrator who has lost their true love.
The opening lines describe a graveyard where the narrator's lover is laid to rest, surrounded by wild flowers. The imagery evokes a sense of beauty and nature's relentless cycle of life and death. The mention of the lover being gone "forever more" sets the tone for the feelings of grief that underpin the song.
Hope Ya'll Will Enjoy!
