- Quick review of a 2.5" Daystar lift I have installed. Overall install time with 2 friends was about 3 hours, with some basic tools. Hopefully this video helps you out if you are in the market. Let me know if you have any questions!

What about for my 2020 with KDSS i can find any type of spacer lift for mine
would of left the rear alone or perhaps, one inch.. but all over all i like it.. looks, sick ! 🤘✌👍
In hindsight, I definitely agree!
Very Nice! I prefer a slight rake as well. Do you think with a 1.25 inch rear lift it would still have a rake, or would it look completely leveled out?
At the moment the front is lower than the rear. With any extra height in the back it’ll be way out of level.
@@AJLoDato22 What I meant was, If you had lifted 1.25 vs 1.5 in the rear, would the front still be lower and still have that rake...which is what I'm hoping to achieve
Ohh I gotcha! I think it would definitely help, but I took the below measurements. Its more than a quarter inch, but I’m not sure how much lower in the rear would actually make it sit level.
From ground to fender:
R: 38.5” F: 37”
From center of hub to fender:
R: 23.5” F:22”
@@MikeLowery203I have my 4 runner at 2.75 front and 1” in the rear and it it perfectly level, so I’m sure 1.25 in the rear will give you that rake.
How u did the body mount chop ? Is it any risk without a welded plate ?
There are a handful of videos on it. I basically did the same cut, but with no plate, and I painted the cut edges so it wouldn’t rust. This far no issues!
So, I read everywhere that 275 don't rub. Yours do? Because of yhe lift, or because of the wheel spacers ?
It was from the spacers I believe. They didn’t rub before the lift/spacers.
Did you have to do the differential drop kit/ panhard correction bracket? Did you have to get upper control arms? Thanks!!
I didn’t have to get a drop kit as this is just a 2WD. I also didn’t do UCA’s as I was able to get it into alignment easily. UCA’s would be better to help prevent them from wearing out faster.
Excellent video, could you tell me the exact size of the tires and the brand?
275/70/17. I recommend watching my final build overview video (on the 4Runner playlist on my channel)
Can you just throw on the front and not do the rear so it’s level? Or are you required to do both?
Yeah you honestly probably can.
So this is just a spacer kit that sits on top of the shocks, like without any sway bar extenders or extra hardware? I wanna do this so bad to my '06 4runner sr5 but I'm not even close to being mechanically inclined, (which my ignorant question probably just proved). I want to install TRD rims just like yours with some all-terrains but I know it's gonna rub, so my first task is going to be removing the step-up bars and mudflaps. I pray I don't have to cut into any metal. Can spacers alone, without a whole new suspension lift, alleviate that? Thanks for the video you have a beautiful 4runner.
It’ll rub if you go with anything bigger than a factory 265. You could do 265’s and no lift, or pay a shop to install. It’s a spacer over the front shocks and a spacer over the rear springs - with all hardware included. It’s not super hard, but does take some time. Torq engineering makes a good video of the install.
@@AJLoDato22 thanks for the info
Can you please post a link? I checked on Amazon but not finding the exact one please and thanks
Hello, I think that looks excellent. I have a gen 3 and really just want the look of a little bit higher. I also check out the spidertrax wheel spacers 1.25 spacers as well. For the price, time, and look, you cannot go wrong. What brand are your tires?
This would be a perfect option for what you’re looking for. There are 275, KO2’s. I would watch my overall build review where I talk about the wheel/tire setup!
will do
How was the alignment results after the lift? Curious about how critical would be getting UCA. Currently debating on the 3”F - 2”R kit and this one… appreciate your feedback
I was able to get the alignment back perfect with this kit. I too was considering upper control arms ~ depends how ‘legit’ you want to go, I guess.
Also, did you measure your front spacers by any chance? I just received my kit from your link in this video and from what I’ve read about the ratio, to get a 2.5” lift you need a 1.25” spacer size. My kit came with 1.5” spacers for the front and was wondering if for this kit is supposed to be like that or if they sent it by mistake. Thanks again
Hmm I honestly don't remember, and unfortunately sold the rig. I'd shoot them an email to verify @@asiel5747
If you did these tries and this lift with no spacers would you still need the body mount chop ?
Nope, I ran this setup without spacers and it didn’t rub!
Also do you need the wheel spacers?
Nope just for looks, and it will rub less without the spacers.
Can you tell me what you mean by a body mount chop? I’m about to pull the trigger on bilstein 5100s and spacers, which will have the same affect.
I’d look up videos of a body mount chop for 5th gens - super common. You take an angle grinder and lob off a portion of the body mount support. Typically you weld a plate back on, but I cut mine only and painted it to rust-proof. If you don’t do this, it’ll be a tire on metal rub, and not good. Following this video I did take of the front mud flaps off to get full lock with no rub at all.
Did you *have* to do the body mount chop or did you just do it to be safe? Also how's the spray through puddles and stuff with the spacers?
I ended up doing the body mount chop because it was rubbing bad in some instances, even through the mud flaps. (I actually ended up taking the mud flaps off as well). I haven’t had any issues with spray up on the body panels.
how rough are the e rated tires?
They ride surprisingly great 👍🏼
does it fit in a normal house car garage?
Yup!
what is the height of your 4runner after the change to 275 and 2.5 lift ?
I have since sold it, so I'm not sure sorry!
Did you have to do an alignment? After?
Yup right after install I did.
What about a diff drop kit? Do you need one with this setup?
I don’t have 4WD so I don’t have to worry about it. But you may, if you do. I’d check some forums!
Oh okay well it looks great man. I’m gonna go ahead and try them on mine so hopefully it works just as well for me. Thanks
Quick question. What tint and percentage do you have ?
The previous owner out 5% all the way around. Love the look…but hard as hell to see out of at night lol
@@AJLoDato22 yeah. For sure. If it was ceramic it would be pretty easy to see out at night. Dyed films are pretty hard to see out. Looks great though!
Did you happen to do a drop axel?
I didn’t have to do one as mine is a 2wd. I have heard mixed reviews about the axle drops though.
do you know if those wheels are +30mm offset?
I believe they are +4mm offset
Ah okay makes sense. I got some tacoma wheels but didnt realize they were +30mm and then had to get spacers to not rub on my UCA's due to larger tires@@AJLoDato22
im confused because i watched a guy that runs 285s and he doesnt nee the body mount chop.. is it the wheel spacers that make it need a chop??
Yup it’s the wheel spacers. I ran the 275’s with no lift or spacers for a couple of weeks prior-to with no issues. Though it is way too easy to do to let that hold you back from a lift & spacers.
@@AJLoDato22 ahh okay.. i do have an angle grinder so dont mind doing a chop i guess lol what disc should i use
What is the tire and rim size?
275/70/17 tires. I recommend checking out my final build walk around video!
How does it ride compared to stock suspension?
Surprisingly it rides just like factory.
What is the height measurement off the ground and center wheel hub
From ground to fender:
R: 38.5” F: 37”
From center of hub to fender:
R: 23.5” F:22”
BMC because of the wheel spacers probably. Most people do a lift, 285s, no wheel spacers and there is no need for a BMC, unless you have some heavy offset (non OEM)
Yup I think it was the spacers, I ran the same setup without spacers for about a week and had no rubs.
2WD?
Yup
Amazon says it won't fir my 2013 4runner trd sport ! Rats
I’m almost certain there is one for a 2013. I’d check their website.
Would i have spacers issues with a stock 24 trd pro ?
What do you mean by spacer issues?
Never understood "level kits" that keep it raked. Just level the front and leave the rear as is then it is leveled. Not raked just a little less.
I don’t disagree lol
