  • My 5th gen Toyota 4Runner has a suspension lift and in this video I go through every single part that was involved to get the 4runner sitting how it is today. The lift is a Dobinsons 1" to 3.5" IMS Lift Kit Toyota 4Runner 2010-2023 - DSSKITIMS01. The tires on this Toyota are Yokohama Geolander X-AT and they are LT285/70R17. I am not a mechanic nor do I suggest you do any of this yourself. Consult a licensed mechanic before making any mods to your vehicle, especially when it comes to lift kits. Below are the links and details to every single part of this lift kit including all of the suspension. There is zero sponsorship in this video but worth noting that I am an Amazon affiliate.

    Why is no one here talking about how you will NOT need to run wheel spacers with 285s on that wheel in order to avoid rubbing on the frame rail or suspension links... This is so bizarre. All he did was make it so that he absolutely WILL rub on the front bumper cover and the body mount behind the front wheel!

    • @RinkVideo
      @RinkVideo  2 месяца назад +4

      I think you’re right and wrong and that depends on what kind of conditions of driving. There’s really no “need” for the spacers but I definitely won’t be rubbing the front bumper cover or body mount. I just got back from Moab and happy to report that I didn’t break anything or experience any rubbing. No super hard core wheeling (because I had to drive home) but enough to know that it works great. It might be bizarre but it’s my bizarre and I love it ✌️

    I'm installing my own lift kit next weekend. On the 30th. I'm using a rough country 3inch lift kit with freedom offroad UCA's and extended sway bar end links for the front and adjustable for the rear, diff drop kit and DR KDSS panhard bard correction kit. I might wait and save some money for the dobinsons rear upper and lower control arms.
    I put BFGOODRICH ko2 265/70/17 a week after I got the 4runner 2 months ago so I guess I'm stuck with stock size tires for a while, till I get new 285's. Thank you for all the useful information for your vide. I'm subscribing to your channel! 🤟🔥

    • @RinkVideo
      @RinkVideo  2 месяца назад

      Darn I screwed that up in the video!!!
      I like the setup. Although I have some play in the front axle right now making a little bit of noise. But only in 4WD at highway speed. I’m sure the lift is not solely responsible for it but definitely doesn’t help.

    New sub here! I have no weight on my 4runner and plan to keep it that way other than a light weight rook rack. I love the level look of the options you picked for this. I have two questions. 1. Do you recommend the same shocks and springs if I am running no weight? 2. Shouldn't the rear OME correction spacer go on the driver side due to more lean?

    • @RinkVideo
      @RinkVideo  4 месяца назад +1

      PARTY NEW SUB!!!!! Thanks Matt. I can't believe you're the first person to ask that question about the spacer. If it was me doing the work, I 100% would have put the spacer on the driver side because it seems counterproductive. However, the fine folks at Krave Automotive are masters of Toyota so I simply trust them. I suspect is equalizes the pressure of the KDSS. Anyway, I love the ride of this lift even when I have zero weight in the back and it still looks sweet with that tiny bit of rake so yes I'd recommend. Thanks for popping in here! I appreciate it.

    • @matthewoneill86
      @matthewoneill86 4 месяца назад

      @@covecarpentry frick I should have actually made a video but it's a PINA to shoot underneath there. I took alot of it down to bare metal with a variety of wire wheels etc and they sprayed it with Dupli-Color Rust Barrier (expensive but awesome) and then some places I sprayed with a rubberized coating. The ProForm Rubberized Gravlguard is such an amazing product. I should actually do a video about rubberized undercoating to show how superior that ProForm product is. I wish I could get it on amazon and it's a shame that it's hard to find. Seriously this stuff is 5-star: proformproducts.com/products/pro-guard-rubberized-gravlguard-2/
