Alfa 147 GTA for me, any day. Rare, good looking and one of the best sounding engines out there. And its starting to apprechiate in value and will continue to do so
It's the V6 JTS engine that came after the GTA which was a GM engine. It's found in the 159 and Brera. Not the worst engine in the world but it was no Busso.
Interesting to see the podgy GTA outlast both R32 and S3. Classy performer. Surprised the 130i hung on to 1st place for so long, its quite a unique layout for a hatchback. Great win in the DC5. Wish Honda still had balls to makes cars like that.
The Civic is now replacing the Integra since many generations, as the Civics were always growing bigger. No point in having to fwd models of the same size. The new Civic R is amazing, Honda still doing what they're good at.
Excellent battle, inte r pulled it off at the last second! The hatchies seem to lack at cornering and corner exit acceleration it would seem and thats kinda what track/sport cars excel at
Power_of_R Integra is tuned for the track specifically, it's very hard, stripped out, hardcore, etc. Golf, A3, 1 series and 147 are infinitely more luxurious, equipped, refined, comfortable, etc. They're the complete package, not just a track car. Besides, these were not really the best hot hatches...in fact...they didn't use the best hot hatches at all. This was an A3 not S3, Golf R was pretty bad back then, 130i is a regular model, 147 GTA was old as fuck. A Megane RS would have wiped the floor with this entire line up.
derbigpr500 This race was done way back in 2006. Any Megane back then would have been smashed by the Integra. S3 is too expensive to be considered as a competitor to the Integra, and the Integra especially the refreshed model in this video is very comfortable and soft.
+Himmel Weint Actually the fastest Megane in 2006 was an R26, and that thing went around Nurburgring in less than 8:20, that's far faster than any Honda FWD, and comparable to the NSX.
Pitty on those people who blame the drivers for the lost of their favorite car. Like the r32, vw pips are hating hattori for the lost not knowing the car in the video was an automatic version. Also peole here think that a 250+ hp car will perform the same after several race laps not considering tire wear and tire progression (as seen with the r32). And people here think that a particular car they drive is the best when they only drive it on the streets (or race on straight lines) while these car in the video were driven to their limits in extreme condition. So don't expect a car to behave the same on the streets and the track. Cheers!

+nagmashot there goes my point. the dsg r32 missed shifted thats why it got passed so driver was really not to be blamed. serious magazines? i'd rather watch the video than read magazines with just pictures and does not show the real action. they will just write numbers, results and pictures but not the whole pictures. im not saying honda is the best rather the way people like you think that a paricular car will always be the best car until its proven otherwise under a different testing or experiment. like for example people who watch too much top gear (which test cars in only 1 lap for a lap time) think that the results in that show will be the same with BMI which test cars in a race with several laps. so tires, weather, track temperature, break wear etc. will factor in the BMI test. that will yield to different result. please don't use the megane and CTR as an example. we all know that the renault is twice the price but the performance is not that far.do search other videos (european test) not bmi ones and see how they match up

I was kinda hoping the 130i could pull it off but it’s just a slightly more powerful one series at the end of the day, not sure if it has stiffer suspension compared to the slower models. Also I believe the A3 and the Golf R32 have the same VR6 engine but the Golf R32 is more tuned for handling and grip while again, the A3 is just a more powerful hatchback. Of course the Integra would win since it’s a purpose built car that is well known for being extremely good handling and fast around a track.
Not really a fair match for the 147 gta, it is a selespeed version which is slower than the manual version and it was not driven in sport mode either so it was short shifting with slower shifts than it is actually capable of. Ive driven the r32 golf, Honda integra type r and the 147 GTA and i can tell you that i properly specced gta with destroy those cars on the straights and wont be left in the corners either, i actually bought a 156 gta and currently own a highly tuned GT 3.2 Autodelta which is effectively a 147 gta long wheelbase and i regularly go toe to toe with faster cars on the track with cars like my friends 2015 bmw m4 which to my amusement and his irritation cannot keep up with the gt in the wet and is well matched in the dry.
I think the decision to not use sport mode was to make it more fair to the other cars. You are wrong about the manual being faster, Selespeed in sport mode can shift way faster than any human.
@@ArmySigs If you read what was actually written i said that the selespeed equipped car is slower than its manual version. i'm not doing the age old manual vs auto argument made by idiots who have plentiful lack of knowledge in the field of engineering. The selespeed Equipped car is slower due to its extra weight, slower than average changes in its normal mode and its revised gear ratio which effects acceleration noticeably. Unlike most commenters i have studied motorsports engineering, have worked with top level teams and i can list numerous reasons on why selespeed is seriously flawed mechanically with the maths to back it up, i will give you a basic explanation why the sele is slower. While the sele is in sports mode it shifts at 500ms, that is about as fast as a well driven manual also at around 500ms (average human) so it's not any faster if both gearboxes are driven perfectly. However in normal mode the sele shifts at around 750ms which is considered a slow shift even by manual gearbox standards and the selespeed also can get overwhelmed during downshifts due to software and solenoid issues both of which are well documented. i suspect a manual GTA can comfortably shift at around 400ms when driven by a professional racer but that's a guess with little to go off. Fun fact the fastest manual gear shift is around 250ms (GTE Race cars) whereas the fastest auto shifts at 8ms (Bugatti veyron DSG) The manual car weights around 1380KG whereas the Sele weighs around 1410KG, with the gear ratio taken into account (shorter final drive) it roughly equates to a 0.3 difference in 0-60mph and 0.7 difference at 0-100 mph when compared to the manual. So the sele shifts slower when driven professionally, it weighs more giving it a lower power to weight ratio and it has a slower gear ratio and this affects the acceleration badly on the track. I looked at both gearbox options for my 3.7 autodelta GT when i was building it for the track and the manual worked out to be far superior, reliable and has little needed to make it better at a much lower price.
I'd love to see a video about your GT. 😍 Im the owner of GT 3.2 too and I agree its a brilliant car. With Q2, good tires and Bilstein B12 Pro Kit suspension it juuust mooves. Lovely car!

The type r in civic, integra or NSX they have always been the best and the flow on from that most standard vtec cars were great cars but with a poddy and big bore sounded mean and did go alot better but they fucken handle better than most other cars.
zpe1200 Good analogy. But now the baseball cap is still back to front but the music is some new wave shite hop hip like Kendrik Lamar.
zpe1200 and now the latest Civic type R comes out with Turbo and spanks every car in its range plus more.. ah shame for the retards who thought Honda forgot how to build a fast track car.
Amun TOO It will be interesting to see what the modding community can do with the new Type R on the Touge.
edge21str Nah it cant....Megane RS is about 40 seconds per lap faster than Integra around Nurburgring. That's a HUGE difference. Besides, even in this battel the R32 was only 0.2 sec slower in the hot lapping, and it didn't have the best track focused tires, not to mention how bare and stripped out the Integra is and how much more comfortable, luxurious, equipped, refined, etc. the Golf, A3, 130i and 147 in this battle are.
DC5R started in the back.and finished all the way in the front!
People are but hurt so badly lmfao. Don't judge by them racing each other! They're just having fun. Judge it by the attack times. Regardless, your favorite car lost. Deal with it.
And the Honda lost.

So I guess the 147 GTA is the winner of the battle ?

The 147 GTA with a manual and a LSD would demolish the competition. But stock it was kind of shit. Which make it more impressive in this race.
S3 is too expensive to be considered as a competitor to the Integra, and the Integra especially the refreshed model in this video is very comfortable and soft.
derbigpr500 What the fuck?! Tuned for the track? Very hard, stripped out? Get your shit right.
Pao S because Type R.
Cheers!
yes DSG version and the car "missshift twice as the Hondus passed" I laugh my ass off... or the A3 standing on the brake at corner exit to make sure the Hondus can pass him...
best motoring is and will be forever the most biased car show on earth... luckly today we have other honest japanese car magazines testing time attack at Tsukuba and surprise surprise... foreign cars do MUCH better ...
just a example in a best motoring track battle the new 2015 Civic Type R beat the Megane Trophy R ... in a other car magazine test the Megane Trophy R (exactly the same car delivered by Renault) beat the shit out of the new Civic Type R.... and BTW this car magazine was over one second QUICKER with the Civic Type R than best motoring around Tsukuba (quality driver or willing driver) and the Megane still whopped the Type R ass.... the current lap record for production street legal cars at Tsukuba is not in the hand of Nismo GT-R or any other JDM that best motroing let always win... it is in the hand of the Porsche 991 GT3 RS... tested by a more serious car magazine
+nagmashot there goes my point. the dsg r32 missed shifted thats why it got passed so driver was really not to be blamed. serious magazines? i'd rather watch the video than read magazines with just pictures and does not show the real action. they will just write numbers, results and pictures but not the whole pictures.
im not saying honda is the best rather the way people like you think that a paricular car will always be the best car until its proven otherwise under a different testing or experiment. like for example people who watch too much top gear (which test cars in only 1 lap for a lap time) think that the results in that show will be the same with BMI which test cars in a race with several laps. so tires, weather, track temperature, break wear etc. will factor in the BMI test. that will yield to different result.
please don't use the megane and CTR as an example. we all know that the renault is twice the price but the performance is not that far.do search other videos (european test) not bmi ones and see how they match up
@@nagmashot I recall best motoring trying the megane trophy and the fk2 on the mountain track and the megane won. I recall seeing track videos like these where the foreign cars won. I know it's tempting to think they fix the races but then they at least make exceptions sometimes.

Tsuchiya Keiichi san drove once same car which I’ve got! I’m so happy, greeting to Rising Sun from Poland
Integra won because it's lighter and better balanced. The other cars probably start overheating tires and brakes after a few laps and that's when the teggy shows it's strenght.
Nah because it's set up for track, the 130i is incredibly balanced as well, the stock set up is just not for track driving. A bit more camber and an LSD and it would rape the teggy
The BGM match the era, miss the 2000's so much. Does anyone know the artist or song? Great demonstration of cars, showing their respective pluses and minuses.
that type R is light like a feather and race oriented ... no brake fade from lap to lap.
who else raced these cars on Tsukuba on their PSP?
I was kinda hoping the 130i could pull it off but it’s just a slightly more powerful one series at the end of the day, not sure if it has stiffer suspension compared to the slower models. Also I believe the A3 and the Golf R32 have the same VR6 engine but the Golf R32 is more tuned for handling and grip while again, the A3 is just a more powerful hatchback. Of course the Integra would win since it’s a purpose built car that is well known for being extremely good handling and fast around a track.
Audi s3 is more tuned for handling and grip. And the motor is too heavy.
130i driver was driving the hell out that shit✊🏾👽
Fun fact the fastest manual gear shift is around 250ms (GTE Race cars) whereas the fastest auto shifts at 8ms (Bugatti veyron DSG)
The manual car weights around 1380KG whereas the Sele weighs around 1410KG, with the gear ratio taken into account (shorter final drive) it roughly equates to a 0.3 difference in 0-60mph and 0.7 difference at 0-100 mph when compared to the manual.
Lovely car!

The Integra is a track focused, lightweight car with absolutely no amenities or spec inside it for everyday use. All of the other cars are loaded up with kit, which adds weight but makes all of them better day to day. However the one car that is missing from this era (2006) is the Megane R26, and I'm pretty confident it would walk this.
