- Karadaiyan nombu is a Tamil festival celebrated on the merger of the last day of the month of "Maasi" and first day of the month of "Panguni" and on this occasion the nombu adai is been offered to the goddess. Adai is made in two variants - Vellam (Sweet) and Uppu (Savory)

Ingredients:
Common for both Adai :
Raw rice - 2 cup
Black eyed red peas - 1 cup
Water - as required
Butter - for side dish
Vellam Adai (Sweet) :
Water - 2 cup
Jaggery - 1 and half cup
Coconut - 1/4
Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
Ghee - 1 spoon
Banana leaf
Uppu Adai (Savory) :
Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard - 1 spoon
Urad Dal - 1 spoon
Ginger
Green chilli - 1 - 2
Curry leaves
Water - 3 cup
Hing powder - 1 tsp
Coconut - 1/4
Salt
Ghee - 1 spoon
Banana leaf
