John Brown died for the sake of basic morality of human existence. I agree with Dr. Hunter there is no John Brown today. I personally feel sex has the allusion if progression between races. Regardless of how many yt people socially like blk people yt people as a whole have not relinquished nothing economically and I say relinquish because the property was not obtained legally.

I realized individually that a corrupt entity cannot make just laws. If a law isn’t just, I individually have no obligation to obey. Then it’s all about survival and an individual life is pragmatic. But when does it end this corrupt system - sigh. We keep helping to keep the monster alive when we should fold our arms and let it fall into the sea. Is it like suicide not helping to beast to survive because we will all fall into the sea together?

Hi Professor Hunter and Dr. Carr, my first time commenting. YES, PLEASE PLEASE do discuss the English Rule of Law. I'm of African descent and my brother, a Dr., says we should be grateful to God for it and the settlers who brought it. It lead to cellphones and innovations, saving millions from starvation and disease. Him being a Dr. no one in my family challenges his ideals (also anti vax), accept me at times. I have a desire to learn more, growing up in TX I've learned that the history in our books was actually propaganda. Thank you for all your love and work. ❤

I now recognize African ways of knowing in my Surinamese mother, grandmother and her mother's sayings and phrasings and being. Clear as day now. Thank you dr Carr and Miss Hunter. "She'used to tell me all the time 'yo sjie' when I was moving and being in the social structure. But now I do 'see'. These ancestors are for real. Much love from Amsterdam (The Netherlands) by way of Suriname, South America.

@@candiyoung7027 There's just too much about her and so little space here which is why I'm in the process of writing a book about her, her mother and her mother. They need some kind of physical monument of sorts. So I've been interviewing all my uncles, aunts, great aunts and great uncles as a tribute to them as well as for my nieces and nephews. Time consuming but a labor of love.

FYI everyone, Oxford is not a suburb of Detroit. I've lived in Detroit much of my life and had to get a map to find out where Oxford is located. Whenever something negative happens in non-Black communities, media always leads off their story by connecting Detroit to the event or to the person by identifying the city as " Metro Detroit," or "Detroit suburb," and by identifying the person as a "metro Detroiter." Near the end of the broadcast or story the actual name of the non-Black city is revealed. Sometimes, if at all.

Professor Karen, there is a series called "The Good Lord Bird" which is based on John Brown. I tried to watch the series but it upset me because it was displaying John Brown as an imbecile and something in my spirit was severely grieved. I am with the idea of canonizing John Coltrane, this is no different than what the people of Louisiana do for Marie Laveau and on grand scale is this not what the Catholic Church does, canonized a whole host of people born into Royalty and made them all Saints. Professor Karen we have been taught to pray to and conjure up all types of energy ignorantly, so I agree with Dr. Carr we do need a new way of knowing.
I was feeling disturbed by the upcoming Supreme Court decision. DrCarr, "is steeped in violence. ..." Today's lecture is giving me a sense of peace I didn't know I so needed. "When he hear we, he hears Whiteness." "Every example of a patriot you give him, they have a gun in their hand." Now, I'm okay.

I'm thinking about a piece I saw in which Sandra Bullock, (adopted 2 Black sons) says " I tell my Black sons not to wear their hoodies on their heads once entering public buildings..." I know she means well, but, I'm thinking is she creating fear within these sons? Another thought came into mind. What is she teaching,sons, beyond this segment. I had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know a black woman by the name of Mrs. Melva E. Roberts Wiley. She was born in Boston and moved to Grambling, LA after her marriage to Mr. William James Alexander Wiley II. She was the mother of a friend at the time. I would often sit and listen as she spoke of her life experiences. One day, while watching the news, Supreme Court Justice Roberts was on, she casually mentioned that she and his daddy were first cousins. Their fathers were brothers. His daddy happened to come out looking white and her father was more melinated , so to speak. She also said that the family would make fun of John because he was so scared his children would show up black, he adopted white kids. Mrs. Willey passed away in 2014 at the age of 87. She was a wonderful old soul to know.

Hope Knubian family have an opportunity to visit the Saint John Coltrane Church in San Francisco. I’ve been there several times as well as experiencing the church’s celebrations at Grace Cathedral. There’s no experience like it. Karen and Dr. Carr thanks for sharing the NYT article and providing the necessary background details to fill in the blanks that the author missed or was unaware of.

The question that has not been answered…why is not a certificate of human death issued when a female has an miscarriage (spontaneous abortion) ? If indeed someone really believe that “human” life begins at the time of conception with all the rights and privileges of citizenship.
I was walking past this young sister here here today in Bend, Oregon. She turned her nose up at me like I don't even know what. Like, don't you dare look at me. It was weird. I kept walking. I have 4 other instances that aren't worth repeating. What the hell do I do? This is insane. I have no family I'm connected with and a pretty tight framework in regards to mobility. I don't know what to do. I can't pretend like my insides are made of stone, I Hurt right now.
I see what I mean to Blacks in this town, this place, this funeral home waiting room and what I mean to the whites here. The messed up part is I've gotten along with white people better than Blacks. They got us good y'all. If you're moved to do so, please leave me some feedback.
