      It once again plays on the Political and Social agenda present in episodes such as Aliens in London; here, we have a man who has probably been in that same job since he was told in the Employment Guidance Councillor's Office at School "With grades like these, I'm afraid Open Heart Surgeon is out of the question but I do know a man in the Council Road Management Team that needs a man who's handy with a shovel.."
      Plus, I bet he's got a REAL Dragon of a Boss who he had to go and explain everything to afterwards, hence why he was so distraught but didn't do anything to stop Rose. Yes, she was destroying Council Property using Council Tools but it'd be the Council paying the compensation if a Member of the Public got hurt by a Council Worker..

The dramaaaaaa. Gave me chills.

    • @overlydramaticpanda
      @overlydramaticpanda 4 года назад +3

      That would probably actually cost about the same as filming in a studio. You need to pay residents for the disruption the filming would cause, potentially pay damages if you wrecked anything, pay to use people's houses as filming locations (daily)... Not to mention the hassle of actually finding a suitable street in the first place where all the residents agree to the hassle of having a film crew there for several days at least. That's precisely one of the main reasons why the majority of episodes *don't* take place in existing residential areas.

  • @hannahjaneprice

    'Fear Her' is a charming episode. The writing is profound. I really admire the creativity of this episode, it certainly allows the audience to fear something as innocent as a child's scribble. This episode also highlights the impact extreme levels of isolation can have on the human mind, specifically a child's mind; an age when friendship is needed most, this episode establishes an important understanding of the need to be with others. When Rose dug the pod up with a pickaxe and recharged it by throwing it into the flame of the Olympic torch, so that the Isolus managed to return home to it's brothers and sisters was just a beautiful moment to see. The chilling ending of this episode; which lead to a fantastic finale! This episode is judged far too harshly with no solid grievances, and it is an episode that is disgustingly underappreciated.

    Great video! I've always felt like this episode was probably written to be a lot darker and a more torchwood-like episode only for things to be added/changed late on. Probably because they wanted the Olympics to look all cheery and happy like you said. Which is a shame because it could have been a pretty good episode if it weren't for some of the things you mentioned like the lack of a real threat from the father drawing or the unimaginative/annoying characters or the cheesy Olympics tie in

The creature is made of graphite. What else is made of graphite? Tennis rackets! Where do you find tennis rackets? At tennis events - like at the Olympics! What do tennis rackets hate? Vacuum cleaners - Sound doesn’t travel in a vacuum so there’s no racket! Mom is described as a vacuum cleaner!
    It all makes so much sense!

    I love Fear her. It's not a big confusing two episode story, it's simple which is different and fresh, it's classic. It also does a really great job of showing the doctors kindness and his care, the way he looks after the child kind of highlights that he has a child himself and what a great father he would have been. Can we also talk about the TARDIS moment (possibly the funniest thing I've ever seen). On a darker note, this episode is great because it shows that not all monsters are supernatural. Some are human, such as Chloe's father who proves to be the scariest thing to a small child.

    I love the part where the council guy goes “ahh nah that’s a council van get out.... now you’ve just removed a council axe from a council van... put it back! STOP STOP! You just took a council axe from a council van, and now you’re digging up a council road.... IM REPORTING YOU TO THE COUNCIL”

    Really the only reason I rewatched this episode was because of Tennent. He really carried this crappy episode.

    I'm alone in this, but I spent most of that episode wishing someone would cave in that kid's skull.

      I see it as the worst episode of new Doctor Who. The writing is bad, and it feels really low budget. The concept just didn't work for me. However, I was already an adult when this aired, so I feel that it is partially because I'm not its target audience.

    I remember really liking this episode when I was little. It wasn't the best, but as a child obsessed with both Doctor Who and drawing this episode really struck a chord with me back then.

    When you first started talking about the episode I was like “oh yeah I enjoyed that one!” But then as you continued I realize that was because I’d blocked most of it from my memory. Only the set up in the beginning and the doctor banter was actually good in this episode

    I really want you to do a video on "Doctor Who: The Curse of Fatal Death" But take it completely seriously. Act like it's an actual canon episode and point out any flaws and plot holes from previous lore
