When I was 15 years old, I saw Jim Duckworth play guitar with the Gun Club at the Peppermint Lounge and watching him rip it up made me want to learn to play. A few days later, I went to Manny’s on 48th street and bought my first guitar, a Fender Bullet S-3. I’ve still got that guitar, and I still play everyday. Thank you Jim Duckworth, wherever you are.
I was roommates with drummer Dee Pop...(Gun Club, Bush Tetras.....many others) in NYC in the 1980's. The scene in the 1980's is underrated.....great bands....great clubs...great stories.....fantastic people. Everyday was.......unique. God bless you, Dee (MOF).
... devastante e trascendentale, il più grande punk-man di sempre JEFFREY LEE PIERCE uno dei suoi concerti me lo ricordo molto bene, tornai con un occhio nero, ma soddisfatto ... grande grande grande ... meraviglioso ...
What did the uk punks think of the usa bands at that time ?I know americans were fully aware of all the english punk coming out but did our stuff make it over there besides basic ramones stuff?Circle jerks, bad brains, minor threat ets
Don't buy the Ghost in the Highway DVD. You will be disappointed. There is almost no Gun Club or Jeffrey Lee footage. It's all interviews with people who knew him.
Wow. Where will you see something this real nowadays? The first song is "Fire Spirit" (not "Fire of Love"), but does anyone know what the second one lis? Or personnel--doesn't look like Ward 'n' Terry on guitar and drums.
I know I'm late here, but that's Dee Pop (ex-Bush Tetras and now sadly passed away) on drums, and the otherworldly Jim Duckworth on guitar - also known as the best guitarist who ever graced a Gun Club lineup. Man, you'd think that dude's axe was about to go up in flames at times, his playing was so fucking hot. When he got sick of Jeff and bailed in late '83, and Kid Congo was coaxed back into the fold, the resulting lack of depth in the band's sound left Jeffrey with no choice but to learn how to sing and play rhythm at the same time. That's a pretty powerful testament to the guy's skill and power.
Sometimes I ask myself.. Why? Why I was not there? Had I a fuckin' latin exam at school, or my old Vespa was stalled, or I just was throwin' the drug party for my 17th birthday of the day before? Don't remember.. But I missed that, and then, also the concert GC did, probably '89, at Backdoors (Poggio a Caiano, Florence), when my girlfriend had a Kid Congo's signature on her tits.. Finally I saw the band on their last, I presume, eurotour, in Colle Val d'Elsa between Florence and Siena, what a great staff there, the guys from Ettore's Butcher gave the best shows in central Italy for years.. It was effectively a great live act; although at the time Jeffrey was drinking only tea under the longing look or Romi Mori, his cirrhosis was too advanced and interferon's cure too expensive to let him living much more time.. Gun Club were one of my ever favourite bands and Club Manila was where I had the most of youth's fun dancing garage songs selected by Franco 'Mito' Fattori from Rimini's Slego. But you know, the man declaring to have not regrets in his life is a liar, or a cretin too..

Instead, watch Hard Times Killin' Floor Blues! It shows Jeffrey during his final years in England.
A lot of negative shit about JLP as well. Still worth checking out on RUclips.
