I know that Fire of Love is probably their best known album but the lineup of Las Vegas Story/Miami and the depth of the songs is pretty hard to touch. JLP was an otherworldly talent.
Still a massive blast to hear The Gun Club and so original. I was lucky to see them in Melb as a teenager in a hilarious perform at times, but highly spirited. Jeffrey was wheeled out in a shopping trolley was a good start.
I had the fortune seeing the Gun Club live, snook in to the Commodore Ballroom 16 years old. I thought JLP looked like a mixture of Marlon Brando and Elvis Presley on stage. Sweating profusely. Preaching the Gospel and the Blues. It was a mind altering experience.
I dont know (as a person of today) how well id adapt to the 80's but shows were the big thing back then. Big social outings w no distractions exceot the band ..the fight.. or the gal ya liked. No social media blubs... just phone booths and telephone poles to place flyers on. Simplicity and value in that. Ya made a flyer and loved readin others. Ya knew that ya would talk personally and didnt pussyfoot around w texts and emojis. I do miss those ..😥dayz. Long live the Gun Club's era!!!
Honestly social media is poison. Myspace was good because you had to sit down at a laptop or PC to work it and it involved a bit of coding. Plus it was more for alternative types. But Facebook is fucking evil along with twitter
@@Idol2Idol I do remenber the times of "fanzines" and no further information if who's playing and where - 58 Punk Rocker from Motorcity Stuttgart Germany Jeffrey Rest in Powder ☠️💣☠️
I watched this when it was originally broadcast... Seem to remember them having a pigs head on stage with them for some reason. The sadness is that there are no video recordings that match their genius on wax... In my top 5 bands of all time.
This is from their appearance on The Tube in 1985. They did another song 'Eternally is Here' and that will be the one you remember. ruclips.net/video/Iv2nKoKMAc8/видео.html (piggy visible at 1m 40)
I get it, but too bad JLee didn't often play guitar live,- it's him, all over the LP's, and he did write most of the parts.KC was still real raw back in these days, which is good and bad. Waiting for these guys to be rediscovered; a first class songwriter, like Elliot Smith, largely forgotten by all but other songwriters,- but I guess that says something ,too.
Okay I’m gonna admit it. I just broke into my 60’s and I missed Gun Club forty years ago in my 20’s. The one upside to that is that they are so new and raw to me now and I can’t get enough! 🎸
New Jeff, and his Mom and Sister back in the day They were a big part of his life and music miss those days.
I saw them live twice, 1992 and 1994 in Thessaloniki, Greece. Jeffrey Lee always in my heart.
Pure, unadulterated brilliance. One of the best bands ever with their best line up playing one of the best songs off their best album.
I think Miami is their best album but otherwise definitely
I know that Fire of Love is probably their best known album but the lineup of Las Vegas Story/Miami and the depth of the songs is pretty hard to touch. JLP was an otherworldly talent.
@@peteormond3565 my love for the band is perpetual. my love for Jeffrey Lee Pierce is eternal. otherworldly.. absolutely & his spirit 🔥 burning
They mean more to me than I can say. 🌹
I'd heard of gun club through reading Keith Morris's book but I really like this
Legendary performance. There was something extra special about this GC lineup
Rigth, love the Kid Kongo , Patricia Morrison and JLP lineup the most
RIP Jeffery
You had a genius that was unmatched
"I was strong enough, to admit that I was weak..."
I just want to say... Patricia in the bass, Jeffrey, Kid Congo, and all these crazy guys. Allways in my most darker feelings. Tanx!!!
Happy Birthday, JLP! You would have been 66 years old today. Miss you, brother.
Nighty night! Damn, Patricia was so fine. 💕
Kid Congo Powers, Nick Sanderson, Patricia Morrison. The best line up of Gun Club
Drummer was Terry Graham; playing with the band the first two records and the EP "Death Party".
Nice drummer.

you young dudes dont realise how liberating this was
...and I'm sure every kid that comes across this video realises the importance of The Gun Club's legacy.
I found out about the gun club when I worked at a record store, I was 15 & I’m 21 now. You’re damn right it was a lift changing experience.
Fire of Love was small genius and Las Vegas story is EPIC genius.
And just think two of the members of the band played with the cramps.
have seen tha band around 1982/83 in Stuttgart and had some drinks with Jeffrey after show....great band, great musician...r.i.p. my friend
Sure, some called it the booze club though ;)
Saw them at Longhorn with Dinosaur Jr as support. Magic!

Elvis, Brando and lotsa Debby Harry!
Who was it that disliked this video? Are you nutz? I suppose it might have been Ted Nugent who mistook it for an NRA video.
great comment
Hardy har har we all know it was you
+Roricsseal BOOM! you got me. Actually the wonderful thing about youtube is that one never needs to be ones own straight man.
Mike Gallows It was a pretty good joke though, but Jeffery should've used some gun "safety" tips before preforming "sex" beat :P
Yeah he thought it was an actually a "gun club"
brilliant performance !
kid congo looks amazing here x
the fact that only 46s people have viewed this is kinda disturbing. what are people listening to with respect to music?
