Good old aunty Pat thumping out that bass line and being hot as ever in her pre Sisters days, love it. By far one of my fave Gun Club songs, effing brilliant 🖤
i am from amsterdam just missed him in 83 84 85 , bummer but i did see tex and the horseheads , the cramps , killing joke and the legendary stardust cowboy live in Paradiso on Leidseplein in amsterdam way to go .
I could slap my face for loving hardcore bands at the time..years later fully realized the slap is real......LOVE GUN CLUB! Seen em at 5 times back then...arrgghhh.
When I first got into hardcore So-Cal punk in the early 80s they were definitely my favorite band. Some would say they weren't exactly a ' punk 'band, and they would have a point to some degree..but they definitely did have that dark, nihilistic energy that drew me to hardcore punk, I loved them.
Fuck, I would have liked to see this live. If it sounds that good on a recording, it would rip your nuts off live. They all sound so good. He gave all to his craft, I'm just glad to hear it.
The best band from the 80's, easily. Jeffrey Lee Pierce - so talented, charismatic. Everyone should own the The Gun Club catalogue, it would do everyone a lot of good. Check out the 1st 2 LPs Fire Of Love & Miami. Every home should have a copy.
One of the best, no doubt! But there was loads of competition for that title. The Butthole Surfers, Wire, Meat Puppets, Black Flag, Minutemen, The Birthday Party, Big Black, The Fall, Slayer, Coil, Young Gods, Half Japanese, Husker Du etc etc etc etc etc.
Her and Melissa Auf der Maur. She's also a bassist, used to play with Hole and the Smashing Pumpkins, and released two lp's of her own in the noughties. Both great albums with the likes of Josh Homme, Mark Lanagan, Glenn Danzig and many others assisting her. If you don't know her, maybe you'd like to check her out. And boy, she's got great legs too!
It was part of the Death Party EP, which came out as a 33rpm 7", Death Party on one side, this and The House on Highland Avenue on the other. I had that. I think there might have been a 12" with one more song, maybe Come Back, Jim.
Jeffrey really had the exact same "sweet spot" as Bob Stinson... without any drugs or alcohol in him, he was nervous and self-conscious onstage, and with one beer too many, he'd completely fall apart. But get him right into that perfect, slightly-dead-eyed range that is clearly obvious here, and he'd belt out a performance for the ages. The brightest lights always burn out the fastest, sadly.
Never heard of this band, this a story behind this and how I got here. I went to a bar and the bartender girl was wearing this shirt. Most beautiful looking Ukrainian girl mix with some Asian in her. Could not take my eyes all night and she knew it too, my stares were so bad that she felt it. I went with another girl she was next to me and probably made the girl next to me uncomfortable. At the end she only charged me the girl drinks but not my beers, was so surprised.
Patricia Morrison from her time with Sisters of Mercy brought me here and unlike her aweful miming in SOM its obvious from this track she could actually play, apologies to Pat as watching her in SOM i honestly thought she couldnt and was just there for "the look". Never really got into the gun club but based on this track i'm going to have a listen, maybe 40 years late but better late than never 😁
Yeah, and look at him, he can't take his eyes off Patricia. I'd be exactly the same. Well, actually, I was exactly the same when I saw her with the Damned years ago.
I saw them in small bar in Tempe Arizona.. maybe 100 people max... it was absolutely electric...I saw them a year later in a bigger venue..Jeffry was so drunk he could hardly sing..what a sad loss. I fucking hate alcohol.
Pleasant Gehman..always saw her name in LA club circles/media but never knew much about her. Back then I probably was afraid of them all and thought they were strange for even a 21 year old who went to goth clubs in LA
Man oh man JLP's live vocals are just unbelievable
this is how a bass guitar should be played. viva patricia, RIP JLP
Patricia is just fantastic here 🖤🖤🖤
Jesus they were great. 40 years later they still hold up.
Not just hold up but still sound better than most 😃
Good old aunty Pat thumping out that bass line and being hot as ever in her pre Sisters days, love it. By far one of my fave Gun Club songs, effing brilliant 🖤
She was amazing bass player😉
Simply amazing performance from the most unappreciated band of the 80s.
That's pretty far fetched.
@@incumbentvinyl9291 a matter of opinion.
Man they sound amazing and Jeffery’s singing makes you feel you are there.
This song hit me like a slap on my face,i instantly became a fan!!!!
Same here😎😎
100%. The second I heard them I was a huge fan.
Same here.
Great song, great band. Started listening to Fire of Love again recently, what an amazing album.
" Fire of Love " is probably the greatest Punk rock album of its era .
Really great album
for me Miami is the pinnacle but I love all their albums
This is in Paradiso, in Amsterdam, around 1985. I remember it as it was yesterday.
i am from amsterdam just missed him in 83 84 85 , bummer but i did see tex and the horseheads , the cramps , killing joke and the legendary stardust cowboy live in Paradiso on Leidseplein in amsterdam way to go .
Pandora?
Love the Gun Club, classic post punk, and Patricias bass lines, wow... a shame she retired, thanks for the up-load Kanaal
Bass sounds killer in this take
Right? Totally killer.
The most vicious bass sound I've ever heard
Couldn't agree more. I'm only just discovering this band thanks to Mark Lanegan's book. Amazing band.
Yup, Patricia Morrison.
Patricia's bass just totally makes this performance brilliant 👏 🖤
Most underrated band in history
The Gun Club and the Wipers are the two most underrated bands of all time imho
Oh come on.
Happy Birthday, JLP! Miss you, brother.
One of my favorite songs fr Gun Club-kickin ass n taking NAMES…f*ck yeeeeaaah..!
Imagine being Patricia Morrison, and having to deal with this guy and then Andrew Eldritch. She must have the patience of a saint.
At least she was rewarded by getting married with Dave Vanian the coolest cat ever.
@@fernandomaron87 REALLY!!!? Cool, I love Dave Vanian.
This band was amazing. If you don't appreciate the other people in the band, DONT LISTEN.
@@stacyblue1980 It's possible to enjoy someone's music and be critical of their personality. Ask any Smiths fan.
Bass players had to put up with a lot of bullshit and egos. It came with the territory.

What a perfect noise....I want speakers in my coffin pumping this out. That will push those little daisees up good and proper!!
Wow, what a lyricist
Didn't know Patricia from the pre SoM days. Pretty cool. Ironically, quality of this video is better than any SoM video found on the YT.
his voice is just INCREDIBLE
Fuck, I would have liked to see this live. If it sounds that good on a recording, it would rip your nuts off live. They all sound so good. He gave all to his craft, I'm just glad to hear it.

I love this song!
So great!
One of my favourites - as a Punk- and later as a Blues-Band !
Patricia's baseline. 🖤🖤🖤
I heard of this band after watching a bunch of Sisters of Mercy videos, when Patricia Morrison played bass for them.
Patriciaaa 🖤
magic .. always wondered if the Club were more pose than music, or just too smacked out to play live but this is sharper than the vinyl ..
loved this band back in the day
brilliant.
THANK YOU for including the date!!
patricia morrison beautiful as always
So great...no words!

Best band EVER
Las Vegas story is also amazing but I discovered it years later as influenced by the negative comments by the critics
And Dead Milkmen, Tex and the Horseheads, 16 Horsepower, Wood Chicken...that play kind of same music , wich was called Cow Punk

Whenever people tell me Vince Neil is just a talentless hack I say... "Listen to his work with the Gun Club."
HA! Love this comment.
Haha! It’s like Vince Neil and Marlon Brando had a love child.

Recorded by VPRO Television (Dutch channel) at one of Netherlands's most beautiful venues: Paradiso in Amsterdam, which is a former church.
Great song
Best legs in R&R . Patricia Morrison
Yep.. between herself and Kim Gordon. Toss of a coin job !

The bass is fucking 🔥👌😍! Is that great Paul Cutler?! He was amazing!!!
Perfect song and the bass is mean
Pat Morrison. YES
Goddamn, JLP looks high as a kite. But the music is perfect. Gun Club forever!
Gun Club blows me away. They should have been from Texas.
The lie. This lamentation of Jefferies' is hard to watch. Living his truths - as real as Rock & Roll gets.
Pure brilliance obscure b-side only on a 12" I think anybody got the Tube version?
