      The thing is you rly dont need all of the lenses. Why would you need the zoom lenses when you shoot all of your Outdoor with 50mm, 85mm, 35mm? It works perfektly in a studio. Even a less expensive lense works like a L Lense in a controlled Environment. Who needs 3 Pro Cameras and all Lenses you can get? That's just advertisment. 😄

    R6mkii with RF 24-70 f28 and rf70-200 f4 for portrait/vid and traveling. I have an R6 as a second shooter. I do have the RF 50 f1.8 for Portrait and RF 16 f2.8 for wide angle as they are both really small and decent enough, for the price. Anyway, you're killing it and I'm always looking forward to see your new vids. Your wife is a great model as well

  • @stew_redman
    @stew_redman Год назад +9

    My main setup is the R5 and 28-70mm f/2. The lens replaces a few primes for me, but I have a few that go wider and a few longer. I use an EOS R as a backup - a seriously underrated camera as most reviews are from when it first launched, before firmware updates gave it a lot more features. My only regret with the R5 is that I didn't get it sooner.

    • @Xirpzy
      @Xirpzy Год назад

      I find the 28-70mm to be a weird bulky lens. Very versatile to have a fast zoom but even the 100-500mm feels more solid and has faster/better AF. My cheap Viltrox 85mm 1.8 renders backgrounds way better. That being said Im happy to have it for the days im lazy and dont want to switch primes. Really its only appeal is how versatile it is. It wont replace primes in terms of iq.

    • @stew_redman
      @stew_redman Год назад

      @@Xirpzy You can't use a Viltrox 85mm to replace any other lens than another 85mm, which is my point. It lacks versatility. No professional reviewer questions the quality of the 28-70 f/2 - it's a class leader. Watch Christopher Frosts's technical breakdown of the Viltrox 85 on an EOS R5 - uncontrolled flaring, skittish focus, only sharp in the centre from f/2.8 and still soft in the corners and suffers from quite bad longitudinal chromatic abberration. I'm always careful of cheaper fast lenses as most are not great wide open, which kind of defeats the purpose.

    • @Xirpzy
      @Xirpzy Год назад

      @@stew_redman Im not saying the viltrox is a great lens. Its really not. Just that the 85mm and 1.8 already makes a pretty big difference in background separation, comparing them side by side. If you want the best iq you still have to go with the RF 50 or 85 f1.2. Thats why im saying versatility is the 28-70s only draw for me. Even then the weight, heavy focus breathing, AF and no IS makes it less versatile. Its still my go to lens for family gatherings dont get me wrong. Just sharing my view on this lens.

    • @stew_redman
      @stew_redman Год назад

      @@Xirpzy I mainly do studio work, so IS and focus breathing are non-issues (IBIS on the R5 is great anyway). I'd rather have a quality background from a class-leading OEM lens than the background from a marginally wider aperture cheap lens.

    Damn .. there is about £15,000.00 you are carrying in that bag, mate. How sharp is the 24-70 compared to the 85 or 50? Is there much difference? Because I currently have the RF 35mm 1.8 for my R6 MKII at the moment and an EF F4 16-35mm. With the 85 or 50, I am not sure if whether they have IS, if they do not have IS, does that seem to be any kind of trouble for you in terms of capturing shots? The 24-70 does have IS and I think that would be cost-effective, due to its versatility, but compared to the 50mm and 85mm, how sharp is it comapred to those two?

      It’s rare it’s bright enough here in the UK that I need an ND filter for photo. If 1/8000 ever wasn’t enough I would either shoot electronic shutter or just step down the aperture. However for maximum image quality I would recommend a solid ND filter from breakthrough photography or NiSi.
