Just wanted to chime in to say that Procedural World’s support has been really, really great. They went above and beyond in my case. Gaia and Gena are super useful tools for my workflow.
Thanks for some sunlight in these dark unity days! Bought gaia pro 2 months ago and enjoying the complete creation process with it, curious to check out the ‘23 version next week!
Gai still the terrain King and the great thing about gaiah says that you can export the terrain you create as hype maps which can be useful even beyond unity and so on so it's extremely useful tool
Hello! Thank you so much for this tutorial! I'm unfortunately stuck in the Mobile / VR Environment Build section. You provided instructions to stamp a mountain and then you mentioned to create another stamp, however that's where I got lost. Did you duplicate the stamp or add another separate one? (I don't see another "Stamper" in the Hierarchy. Also when you selected the "Operation Type" as Stamping / Lower Height, my stamped mountain disappears completely. Even when I raise and lower it. Would you mind sharing what may be going on?
Like the streamlined install process. While back I got an email that I needed to set up a new account, that you were migrating to a new website or some such, and it seemed terribly complicated. I am a customer with recent orders and I am interested in upgrading my purchases to the latest, so some simple process of upgrading would be appreciated. Thanks
Question for you, with all the problems with Unity as of late, I have the 2021 version bundle pack in Unity and wanted to know a couple of things: 1. Do I need to repurchase this newer version for unreal and godot engines? 2. Is there a discount when upgrading? 3. Can i just import your assets to unreal and godot without running into license issues if i publish a game?
It's not available for Unreal or Godot and won't work with them, although people do export the height maps and use them. There should be a massive discount when upgrading. Will need to ask unity about upgrading from bundle to individual package.
Yes... but. You need to target your content and the density of your content at your target device. Gaia can generate any type of environment with any type of content you want to use.
Up to you. If you are happy with 2021, then no need to move. You can read about the differences on the 2023 product page. I also talk to them in this video.
Gaia comes with a lot of documentation, and in addition to that the majority of the functionality and workflows are same between Gaia 21 and Gaia 23. To see more tutorials just look at this youtube site.
Hi, you can select the size of the terrain at the beginning of the world creation process in the Gaia Manager. It would be possible in theory to make a single 50 x 50 km terrain, but this would stretch out your heightmap resolution across a large area, resulting in loss of mesh detail on the terrain. You can instead decide in the Gaia Manager to create multiple terrains, e.g. 50 x 50 terrains at 1024 size. Gaia Pro offers terrain loading and is able to load these terrains in and out around the player / your airplane. You can learn more about terrain loading in this article about Terrain Loading here: canopy.procedural-worlds.com/library/tools/gaia-pro-2021/written-articles/creating_runtime/2-terrain-loading-streaming-in-gaia-pro-gaia-pro-2021-r64/
yah, its been an interesting week to be sure! and we have a bunch more cool stuff coming... but.. we also have a mega grant, and our stuff is coming to unreal, and maybe godot soon as well.
I don't think so, Unity is still a great engine and because of an error of a person(and his close group) who is not in the company anymore, that doesn't mean that the effort of the engine at this moment is not still valuable, It's not strange to see many people so ungrateful lately, when the king was the dirty Unreal, only Unity arrived with a democratizing development focus for the indies developers
Beautiful. Im happy that Procedural World is helping build TCG World

Why am unable to find gaia manager in gaia 2 and am using unity 2022.3

Hmm... I am not sure why you would be getting this. Could you reach out to Adam on our discord and we will dig into it. discord.gg/TggjQNN

@AdamGoodrich thank you for the response! Now if I go to Unreal or godot, would there be a discount if I had to purchase on their platforms?
Can you view these in VR? Can you set smaller size worlds? Can you generate multiple biomes in one world?
Yes... but. You need to target your content and the density of your content at your target device. Gaia can generate any type of environment with any type of content you want to use.
Any chance of this coming to Godot? Definitely not gonna work in Unity anymore, and Godot could use a great terrain system.
Just had a great chat with one of the founders... never say never :)
whats the difference between gaia pro 2021 and 2023? I have 2021, do i need 2023?

Thanks!! One more question, is there a way to make Mars-style terrain? I'm still learning the tool and I want to create a game on Mars.
@@AdamGoodrich
@@josimarfpsbrasil168 You can create your own biomes with your own textures. I made a mars environment once with a NASA engineer. Was a lot of fun.
can this tool generate terrains like the game RUST? i need to know so i can make big bucks
We know of people that have used Gaia to make terrains for Rust. They had to do some sort of conversion though.
Does gaia costs?
Yes. People need to be paid for their work.
Too complicated and confusing for me.
