RARE TRACK: New Beckenham Curve!

- Daniel and guest Willow/Antigod explore a rare section of track in Bromley, between New Beckenham and Beckenham Junction, which is made open to the public when the Hayes line has engineering work. Also they bash on the state of 465s again because that’s what this channel is known for at this point.
(Yes there will be a full video dedicated to the history and future of the 465s at some point, you don't need to keep pestering us)

oh hey! it's me!
Hey its me.
A couple of years ago, I travelled on Class 375 Electrostar service from Sittingbourne, which would have started at Dover Priory. Because they were doing work on the Brixton Junction and also around Catford, they diverted the services between Bromley South and Victoria to run via the Beckenham loop, Lewisham, Denmark Hill, and through Clapham High Street before switching back to the Chatham Main Line into Victoria. It also made an extra stop at Beckenham Junction.
I have been told that the 465/9s (former first-class units) and the 2-car 466 Networkers are supposed to be withdrawn in December, with Southeastern being loaned some more Class 377s from Southern. This will only be possible because the 30 former Stanstead Express & Greater Anglia Class 379s are moving to Great Northern, and Southern will get some of their Class 387s.
They need more /9s the motors are superior to the Hitachi ones. I assume they will all be phased out in the future
@@Wolfhill09they are awful to drive though
Who told you that the 466 and 465/9’s are leaving in December this year? That’s crazy!
@@StarbitTrainspots I was told this by a friend who retired from Southeastern a year ago, and he heard it from a guard based in Gillingham, who he meets up with quite frequently that the rest of the Met Cam Networkers were going. The plan may have changed, especially with a change of government pushing Great British Railways, but with the current Met Cam units now getting spares from the withdrawn 465/2s, 465/9s and 466 because some parts are obsolete, there will be a point, very soon, where there will be no more spares available. I personally can't see them getting rid of the 466s as they probably don't have enough 376s or 707s to make up all of the 10-car units needed. If they do get some more 377s, that could get the Networkers away from Main Line running and keep them on the SE Metro routes.
Who been eating the seats? 🤣🤣 Great video
The looks of an old train and the engine sounds of an old train. What a nice way to travel on a train. Nice Vid.
I hope one day Bakerloo line trains service the Hayes branch
My mum doesn’t like the class 465’s she only likes class 375/377 trains
1:40 the class 465/9 motors are absolutely amazing
465s are most characterful in the SE tbh. As much as theyve got tired seating.
The class 465/9s are my favourite trains
2:28 needs some new ironing boards by the looks of it 😅
For rare track , have you ever done the 05:30 Liverpool Street to Enfield Town on a Saturday morning, which covers the Tottenham South Curve and Seven Sisters Chord, the only passenger working booked to run via those bits of track?
I think that Southeastern should start replacing the Class 465 and Class 466 with new rolling stocks that these DC networker trains are getting quite old. Maybe Alstom could build and manufacture new Aventra DC trains to replace the Class 465 and Class 466.
Great video , nice journey to
Idea for next race video : Finsbury Park to Crystal Palace via London Bridge vs Finsbury Park to Crystal Palace via Victoria
(Edit) : the class 458/4s have entered passenger service
Are they phasing out the 465s now after that video that south-eastern posted about new metro rolling stock being developed?
What video? They are ordering new stock but that wont happen until nearer 2028-2030
What London terminus did you depart from ?
If I’m correct, it should be London Charing Cross.
With that 465 being quiet, ive had that before i dont know what the issue was but there must have been a lack of power to that specific train or coach
TfL three guess what the class 458/4 is in operation now :D
Thanks Daniel and Willow, all I can say is thank goodness Willow was wearing the mask that seat was incredibly dusty. Love the collaboration with Willow, more please.
That yippee made the whole video lol...well both of them lol
The noise of the 465s engine reminds me of the noise of the jubilee line
I believe it's due to the trains being built around the same time and built by the same manufacturer which I believe was Metro-Cammell.
@@Wolfhill09same manufacturers for sure.
Great video.
Whoever they employ at the SouthEastern depots to clean and repair those 465s, is clearly sitting on their arse all night instead of actually working!
Hi tfl three why don't you spell out the word christmas on each line of the london underground david dowling
465/9s the best subclass! Shame even they are in a bit of a state
Do they still run from Victoria to Ramsgate and Dover down the Chatham mainline I don't usually see them past Gillingham very often anymore
@@Wolfhill09 there are summer specials from Cannon Street to Ramsgate on weekends. I don't think Dover 465s exist anymore. So the longest run you can do on a 465 is either the Cannon Street to Ramsgate summer special service or the Victoria to Ashford every weekday service
@@awesometrainsandbuses I haven't rode on a 465 in so long as I live past gillingham kent way and I see them very rarely at the level crossing. I would like to ride them again some time. But all I see now is 375s and 395s
Is it a Hitachi traction 465
Alstom on the /3s 5s 9s
@@legitibitmaster3264 465/0 and 1s are the Hitachi motors and the /2s (which are no longer in service) and the /9s are using the GEC Alstom motors
I would hardly call it rare track when the curve is used every day by early morning and late evening Tunbridge Wells trains to and from Cannon St/Charing Cross
It’s difficult to hear you both talking - maybe time to invest in a cordless microphone that many RUclipsrs are using these days?
Boring video boys. Make it a bit more interesting about the route and service and why the loops being used. Not about you🙄
