I'd watch a whole vlog of you as passenger princess and reacting to Mrs. Nutts' driving 👑 lean into the turn! 😂
She’s crazy!
@@thefantasynuttwork Yes! Crazy about you! ❤️😘
Love Guy Gavriel Kay.
Can never get enough vlogs from the Nuttz man himself
More to come!
I love these vlogs because it means we’re getting over 30 min of Jimmy!
They’re a lot of fun to make
Not only do we get vlogs now, but we get LONG vlogs, and I am living for it!! Really loved hearing your thoughts on a different type of Hobb story, and gosh... I feel such FOMO about that chariot scene in Sarantine lol I need to read it 🤩
You should definitely read it!
An HBO Sarantine Mosaic would be so so good, it is the adaptation I want more than anything else
Yeah seems like an obvious choice for them if they want some Emmy awards
Great stuff my man!!! Glad you and the Mrs. had a fun trip together.
Thanks bro! It was super fun but went by too quick
I just finished assassin’s apprentice and absolutely loved it. I’m on book two and will def be finishing the series and moving onto her other works next. I’m reading gardens of the moon ( which fantasy nut turned me onto - thank you) as well and Robin Hobbs writing has been such a nice change to Erikson’s writing ( although I love the density of his style as well).
I read those series at the same time too haha
I’m reading Ship of Magic and LOVING it
Wooooo
Yay golf!! I've been playing since I was a kid. Glad you are enjoying it so far. I enjoyed The Soldier Son trilogy, as you said not ground breaking, but I liked it.
I am so bad at golf lol
GGK is one of the best the genre has to offer
I agree completely
Yesss! Another vlog! 💛
And they keep getting better- that intro was just 🤌🏻
Hey thanks 😊
I'M READIN' OVA HERE!
hahahahhahaa
DAMN CHILL, a 43 minute vlog damn... well I am hoovering the house for mum so thx as well haha
Hahahah my pleasure
great vlog keep them coming
Absolutely!
Soldier Son is so interesting to me because everyone seems to describe it differently to me, ill be curious to see how it goes after I finish Elderlings. Lord of Emperors thoughts were on point, such a well done and satisfying novel. Ishiguro has been utterly fantastic for the first two books Ive read, I have Pale Hills on hold at the library.
It’s a little rougher around the edges but still beautiful
Great vlog!
My feelings toward Shaman's Crossing are about the same as yours. It is good and readable.
Where you like it due to Hobb's writing(which I had no experience with before reading this book) I liked it thanks to the way she made classic tropes her own(knights becoming Cavalla, the way she has built the cultures of the indigenous peoples, etc...).
I'm mid on the series but Forest Mage is 🔥🔥🔥.
I'm trying to read Remains of the Day. It is a book...
Keep up the good work!
Remains of the day will be boring for a lot of folks but I found the message moving and also at times downright hilarious
I've read the whole series. Let's just say it follows suit with Robb's works that it's depressingly great an neatly crafted!
One thing I always think works better for written work than film, is giving scenes where you don't quite know whose point of view you are seeing the scene from, to give an unknown perspective.
Yes!
Forest mage wounded more than anything in Rote. Emotionally eviscerated.
Also, An artist of the floating world is a brilliant Kazuo ishiguro book, my personal favourite of his.
I’ll buy that !
@@thefantasynuttwork Hope you enjoy it, I think it's maybe his most interesting book, certainly has legs anyway. A book you can come back to for years. Sorry for the hard sell! Lol.
“I’m pretty bad…but Kelsey’s worse, so that’s good at least.” 💪💪💪💪
You have me very intrigued with Shaman’s Crossing! Also I loved Remains of the Day and another of his early novels Artist of the Floating World, so I’m definitely going to need to read that debut.
And can’t wait to read Sarantine after Song for Arbonne became my favorite book ever!
For me Arbonne is still number 1 but Sarantine is 2
Yay another reading vlog!
I realize it's important to hook a reader, but I usually hate openings that start in the middle of a battle scene. I haven’t been given reason to care about the conflict yet so those openings are boring and tedious.
I relate so much with liking a book but then not continuing a series. It's a problem for me😅
You're making me want to return to Robin Hobb. I love her writing
Her writing is as good as usual in Soldier Son so far!
another great vlog! As I've previously said, I so love the variety of things you'll pick up without forsaking SFF.
You already got me to buy The Remains of the Day. Your praises for Ishiguro in this vlog just made me more excited read it next and I hope I can enjoy his work as much as you. Thanks Jimmy!
That’s so awesome to hear, thank you so much
Not the first thing I hear is not like us jimmy, you too?! 😂😂😂
😜
Reminds of what Stephen King said one time, "you can't spoil a book". I don't know if I fully agree but I do agree with the sentiment, its about the experience.
I think it’s possible but I get what he’s saying
@@thefantasynuttwork I could listen to King talk for hours, dude's the GOAT. I still rewatch that interview with GRRM.
I've a question Jimmy, I've started branching back out into other genres again and I was wondering if you'd any standalone recommendations? We've fairly similar taste.
@@thefantasynuttworkIt's like watching Columbo, you know who the murderer is in the first five minutes, but that's not the point. I think of spoilers that way, if I learn something I shouldn't know yet, I can treat it as secret knowledge.

Banger intro 😂😂 A-minoooooooooooooor 🎶
He a 69 god
Homie just started a reading vlog with Not Like Us.
Had to do it 😂
Haven't read Sarantine, but I think Song for Arbonne is also pretty adaptable - and it wouldn't require a big budget or anything.
Agreed
Thanks for suggesting cloud Atlas was a very interesting read
Happy to hear!
I'm happy to see you enjoyed Shaman's Crossing, I struggle with Soldier Son as I *want* to like Nevarre, but find him so booooring. His friends are fascinating, the world is intriguing, and I don't enjoy being in Nevarre's head 🤷 You are inspiring me to finish out my re-read of the trilogy and pick up Renegade's Magic though.
Cheers Jimmy
Cheers Derri! He can’t compare to Fitz hahah
damnnn flew to new york just to support kdot. love the dedication man
I went for Whitney…
WOP WOP WOP WOP WOP
When you mentioned the academy setting and everything, the first thing I thought of was Earthsea so it's interesting to hear there are more comparisons! Now I really need to pick up Soldier's Son
Yeah! Loved Earthsea and I 100% think this is Hobb in conversation with it, lots of Ged vibes!
@@thefantasynuttwork I believe it. I wanted to slap Ged for at least half of WoE and even in RotE, I felt le Guin vibes
Shaman’s Crossing starts out fine but then goes all weird. I managed to read all 3 books in the trilogy, (it is written by Robin Hobb after all!) but, well …..!
I do love weird…
Another great vlog!!!❤
Agreed on A Pale Vieuw of Hills. It's only in the end that some things become clear. I did like the interactions with her father in law. Still not sure what that all meant. His books keep me thinking. Definitely going to read more from him. Thanks for introducing this author to me. 😊
Just read my first GGK, and I'm hooked.
Shaman's Crossing has moved a bit further up the TBR list, maybe audio will help get past the academy stuff
The audio is actually pretty good
Hey Jimmy! I know you enjoy some good literary fiction. James McBride is having a moment with his new bestseller “The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store.” Check out his earlier hit if you haven’t “The Good Lord Bird.” It’s an alternate history take of abolitionist John Brown. It recently was made into a limited series with Ethan Hawke. Met him at the Miami Book Fair years ago when it came out. Really a great guy.
I’ll take a look, thanks!
Oooh just bought the Lord of Emperors even though I don't have the first haha didn't know you started that series. My only experience with GGK so far has been Tigana and it was....yeah. Keep up the lords work
Doing my best!
Great vlog! You have really gone a GGK tear
It’s been a good run!
Can’t wait for you to get the rest of GGK’s “Mediterranean” books. I could tell there were several references to the Saratine Mosaic in Children of Earth and Sky. I should finally finish All the Seas of the World this weekend and hope to get to the Saratine Mosaic by July.
That’s very exciting
Guy Gavriel Kay ❤
Total Chad
As expected another modern classic in vlog form 😪

❤️
Lord of Emperors is sooooo goooood, enjoy
It’s a certified slammer
LOL “Shaymin’s” Crossing 😂
Yeah I said 3 different ways 😎
must be the WV comin out

I like the Soldier Son trilogy. It was weird and bleek. It also made me want to get back in the gym, and I've been working out 4-5 days a week for the last 6 years. So, there's that. Lol
Great work!
I’m nearing the end of my RoTE journey. Looking forward to reading her soldiers son trilogy after
Nice!
Agree about Saranntin Mosaic could be a good adaptation!!!!
Absolutely
Welcome to the world of reading vlogs! I think you’re comfortably here with us now 😌
Loved hearing your thoughts shift as you made your way through the books!
Thank you friend!
I have played golf since I was like 8 years old, now 30...however, I was actually better at age 15 haha it's probably one of the hardest things to learn and do well at. Best of luck, quick tip. Don't aim for the top of the ball, aim for the very back of it or even the ground behind it. Really helped me when I first started playing.
I need all the help I can get
@@thefantasynuttwork Also, check out Padraig Harrington's channel, he is a 3-time major champion and now he makes golf instruction videos, he is an all-time favorite of mine. You will learn a lot from him for sure.
Yessss Jimmy! (A Pale View🙌 19:39 )
Cats!!!❤❤❤❤ 37:09
@@Thecatladybooknook_PennyD they are so photogenic
Haven’t read either book so can’t contribute to that conversation but I can say that 37:27 that’s a good shirt 👍
Hey thanks!!
thoroughly enjoyed this vlog, and from a creative standpoint, learned a lot. I absolutely love your intro title screen work. It feels like an actual show. Also, hey! Want a free book? Jesus wrote it!
Hahahaha this book will change your life!
You should stop off in New Jersey and crash Doctor Fantasy's place! 🤣🤣
He wouldn’t let me on the property!
@@thefantasynuttwork 🤣
@@thefantasynuttwork You could take him!
Eternal question about finishing series or not if you liked book 1 but didnt love it. I am at the same place with The Lies of Locke Lamora. Maybe I'll give book 2 a shot....
I love book one so idk if I’m a good gauge but I also loved book two
@@thefantasynuttwork Haha yeah I did watch your review of it. I didnt jive with the writing style, but I loved the characters. esp. Locke and Jean, so its a toss up for me to go to book 2.
Random ass question, but have you seen that Keanu Reeves is doing a BSRKR based novel with China Mieville? Just took me off guard seeing china mieville’s name on anything
Yes and I’m not sure what to think of it lol

I really liked book 1 and 2 of Soldier Son. Book 3 not so much...
Uhhhh oh haha
Not like us to start the vlog was the ONLY way. Tryna stoke a chord and it’s probably…
