i think it's very unfortunate that this is the way you will be discussing CWN. I looked forward to you experiencing CWN and talking about it the same way you did vagabond, vinland saga etc. Allen makes this borderline unwatchable in my opinion.

Allen. There's a monitor you can purchase that has a bootie that goes on a babies foot and monitors a heartbeat and sends you alerts if there are any issues. So you can close your eyes. You can even sneeze!

Marineford is of course the climax to the first half of One Piece. But the way things are shaping up, there's a good chance the final saga will dwarf it. Oda himself said that Marineford was only the tip of the iceberg. The A Feast for Crows analagy is a good one. And Oda has been building and building since post Marineford. I'm really hyped about the current chapters

I'm going to see Dune 2 this week and I'm super excited. It took everything in me not to give my buddy a Quinn's Ideas level lecture at work today when he said he had questions about the Dune universe.
The Powder Mage trilogy is fun. It does waste potential but I still enjoyed exploring the world. I can guarantee you would like it more than Mistborn era 2 but that isn't saying much 😂.
Books are too long.

Great episode as usual, I was sorry to miss it live 🙌🏻 Allen, I’m sure you’ve heard this, but I believe you would enjoy The Holdovers. The main character is an ancient civilisations (specifically Rome and Greece) teacher and has the same academic integrity as William Stoner. I feel like you would appreciate his frustration with his students and the faculty.

I had the same problem as Mindolin with Gideon initially about there not being people in the world but they very specifically go to somewhere there isn't people and then spend the entire novel there so in retrospect it does make sense. Does feel a little strange through.
I know what you mean in regards to too many books. I'm finishing up my re-read of The Darkness That Comes Before, started Golden Fool, restarted American Gods and I've Veiled Throne on pause at the halfway point. Fml 😅
Also, I love ‘The Remains of the Day’, Jimmy. I don’t care if the plot is boring, as long as the character study is interesting, I am seated

Around the 35 minute mark you guys talk about the bonehunters being where the series peaked for you, and I totally get that. But for me, toll the hounds was just incredible. I read it a couple of months ago, just a week after my dad died, and I went in not really knowing anything about it. That ended up being the most powerful, moving and healing reading experience I've ever had, and I very much doubt that anything will hit me in the same way again.
Hearing you talking about people being like "pick me energy" about a girl reading a book in a bar is just wild to me. I can only imagine that it's a projection issue where these people feel like they're being made to seem inferior by not reading, when the only thing making them seem inferior is their attitudes. People just can't let people live.
Assuming it's not just clickbait, I think they're jealous. She's just out there living her life enjoying herself and they're so sad and pathetic in their lives that they have to pick on people who don't know them and can't see the just to feel something. Skill issue honestly

The last two books are bonkers
Allen talking about his dislike for the main character in the Shogun book is me with Jalan in Mark Lawrence's Red Queen's War trilogy. It's a decent trilogy which expands upon his Broken Empire but Jalan is so annoying and undeveloped as a character that it makes it a tough read
I feel bad for Allen because while I wasn't one of the people that yelled at him since I watched some of his videos before my instinct when someone is yelling is to get mad lol. They don't even have to be yelling at me if I just hear someone yelling I get unreasonably angry and I'm sure some of those responses are from people like me
Missed the live event again, haven't seen any comments about JAW (😂😂😂) discussing the new Shogun series so I'm guessing neither of you have seen it yet?

I stopped watching One Piece years ago when I reached Fish-Man Island so I will have to agree that it isn't good 😂 I used to love that anime.
