The problem with a Sportster is that it has the constant stigma of being a girls bike. I have a Sportster and it’s my 3rd one. Sportsters get a lot of flack but it’s a great bike. I looked at the Indian Scout Sixty last week and although I didn’t ride it I immediately fell in love with the seating position and the looks of it.
I had a 16 Scout 60. Put over 13,000 miles on it in 2 years. Decided maybe a bit bigger bike due to the longer rides. BIG mistake. Got a 17 HD Lowrider with less then 4,0000 on it. After 2 years, 2,000 miles and numerous trips to the shop. Traded it off for a 16 Scout with less then 1,0000 miles added 500 miles since I bought itlast week. After 3 sportsters and 3 big bikes. I had my heart set on a Harley 48. I had the cash set aside for it, but couldn't find any in stock, so I waited. Then one day driving home from work, I stopped at the Indian dealership and sat on a Scout. It felt as though it was made for me. It was in the fall so I decided to wait until spring to get a new bike. I finally got a chance to ride a Scout, that next spring, and was hooked. I found one a couple of hundred miles away, used, with under 600 miles on it. Got a great deal on it, and have never second guessed my decision. I'm in the middle of my 3rd riding season on it. So glad that I stopped at that dealership before I bought the Harley. Still like the looks of that Sportster, just not nearly as much as my Scout.
Right? I have a 2014 Vintage. I traded in my 2016 Honda Shadow 750 for it. Broke my heart because I loved that peppy mid size bike. But I fell in love with the big ass Vintage right away. The new Sportster is as advertised so quick also more tech.Times are changing even for HD and some of us are glad for it
Just found your site. Great video, thanks. Question for you, do you happen to know what after market exhaust Corey put on the Indian Bobber? Sounds great. Cheers.
I have to say both marques make really handsome bikes but the lack of lean angle available on either is what will always put me off them. Purely from a safety point of view. I live and ride in Yorkshire where there are almost no straight country roads (apart from the Roman roads, of course). I test rode a Fatbob a few years ago and loved it right up until I entered the first roundabout, pegs dragged on both sides. Now that would be dangerous on the roads where I live. Beautiful bikes though.
my issue with both bikes is low seat height very little rear suspension travel and cramped legs.Low Low is an American thing but terrible for riding scraping pegs back getting jolts on bumps etc.Why I like standard bikes. If I want a cruiser I'll get Valkyrie flat 6 legs under relaxed.
You can't compare your air cooled Sportster to a water cooled engine. The new Sportster replacement will be water cooled. Just wait and see. Forward controls work best outside of an urban area. Wouldn't want them for Philly riding where it's stop and go. I like the forwards on my Street Bob in Philly.
When I heard that Scout had 1200 miles and needed $1000 in repairs and the pipes were burnt blue, I thought wtf? Seriously? I bought my Sportster 1200C new in '09 and it has been 100% reliable and never needed any repairs at all. I just get regular oil changes, replace the battery every 4 years, that's it. The pipes, and the entire bike, are still looking brand new. I know that there are more powerful bikes but I really don't care. This year I considered trading up to a Fat Boy 114 with the M8 engine because I wanted the softtail suspension, 6'th gear, and ABS. The extra power doesn't hurt but I'm not sure I want another 100 lbs of weight. The price of that bike is way too high for what it is, but it is a nice bike, can't argue that. But due to the high MSRP and dealer markup on top of it, I decided to look at other brands. I am convinced that I would really like the Indian Scout, Bobber or standard, can't decide. It's light weight like a Sportster but a better performer. However, the Scout still has poor suspension (mushy in front, to short stroke in back) and the price of accessories is crazy high. Scouts do have some issues, lots of vids about those problems, and I don't need those problems. The new Sportster S isn't even a Sportster IMHO, just in name only, and although it might be a cool bike, it's just not for me. All said and done, I might settle for a new HD Softtail Standard (too bad it's only available in black), or just count my blessings and keep the '09 Sportster until I die.
For what it's worth. My 19 scout bobber has been extremely reliable. Just passed the 3 years of ownership mark. I've only done maintenance and tires(and one set of feeler pegs because i ride it like i stole it and love corners on this little angry beast). I love my bike and couldn't fathom trading it in. I ride year round except when theres snow/ice on the road. I don't think you'll be disappointed with a scout.
@@patrickmarrone8565 Had a couple Pachira Aquatica AKA “Money Trees”, and tons Spider Plants. Thought some purple lights would help em grow, but honestly just regular sunlight is the best bet from my experience 😁
The Indian is a great bike, no doubt. Comparing it to a Sportster? Common, just about anything is better than a Sportster. You should be comparing the Sporster to a 1972 CB350 Honda maybe or a 250 Rebel.
Lovely Scout, but there is NO WAY IN HELL he's gaining 15-20hp from only the exhaust. A turbo vehicle only sees those gains via tuning and full exhaust, on a bigger motor. A 1200cc naturally aspirated V Twin gains MAYBE 10hp if you're lucky, and that is only if a tune is applied with it. If you drop in cams, tune and bolt ons, you might get those numbers out of it however. Maybe I missed something. What qualifies me to say anything about it in the first place? I work at Indian. If you liked this, the 116ci Chief will BLOW YOUR MIND.
Actually it does with the tune from loyds garage, I got the scout 60 and pushed out an extra 20hp with intake, exhaust and tune. I think its partly because they are tuned down aswell from factory so it picks up some power that was already there just held back.
I own a 19 scout bobber. I rode a 116 super chief at demo days. Frankly I was disappointed with the 116. It did ride smoother but the performance was nothing to write home about. I'll keep my scout.
I have a victory octane with the same freedom exhaust, s&s intake, and a tune and it comes in at just shy of 100hp at the wheel. I'm gonna say now way that thing makes 120hp.
So im a new scriber but was curious on a possible collaboration I’m a new rider in the beginning or my journey and have ideas for content of me on my journey if interested
It's pretty cool the way you show everyone where he lives, even telling us the name of his street. I found the guy's front gate on Google maps in about 30 seconds. If I was a shady type looking to rob me some bikes, I would know where to go.
Had the Octane, great bike, handled well, Less forward in the controls, rolled on well and nice top end. Scout is cooler looking imo but not quite as talented. However if after a sportier ‘Sporty’ then go get a XR1200 with the High Comp EVO 👍 💪 P.S. Scouts don’t make 100hp stock and with a zaust and tune you might get 105hp on dyno. Octanes had higher redline, more compression, bore and cams. If just want to cruise and be cool, make good sounds and rip then 1200 Sporty gets it done 😎
IMHO the Sportster is hands down the most pleasing to the eye. The Indians just look cheaply made to me. I have not ridden one but may try one this Spring here in PA. The only Polaris I've ever owned is my 2019 Ranger 1000 North Star Edition and it rocks.
As a citizen that once spent three years of my young life (about your age) in service to my country and put my life on the line for the freedoms you very casually enjoy today, I am deeply offended at your display of the inverted American flag on the back of that HD. I could say shame on you, but you would probably laugh. It is my opinion that you might consider taking your personal freedoms a little more seriously. If you don't, they will certainly be taken away from you.
@MN Citizen Thank you for your service brother 🙏❤️. At the time of this video I had actually just taken ownership of the HD only a couple days prior and had not yet removed anything off the bike from the previous owner. I apologize if this offends anyone, but the inverted flag is definitely Not my doing 🇺🇸❤️🫡.
I rode one in Sturgis. The difference is the Sportster has power and torque down low, the scout is higher in the rev range. I was actually not impressed.
All was going well until 6:53 into the video. Corey's Harley 883 had the American flag upside down on the bike. I wouldn't have wasted my time with him and walked away. Then blocked his number and deleted his number from my phone.

So after you riding the scout, I was thinking for my first bike to be a Scout rogue sixty 999cc I think, I believe you're on the larger size 1100 in the video? Would the sixty be too much for a beginner?
No i don't think it would be too much. It would be fine to learn on and grow in to a little bit.
Hey, can you tell me where Bryn Mawr is? It's a Welsh name (I speak the language) and wondering what the history behind it is. Great video btw
Yooo thank you. It's near philadelphia
Awesome Video brotha! Appreciate the honest reviews on my lineup. My philosophy: Educate Yourself, Invest, Work Hard, and what you put in is what you’ll get in return 💪. “No such thing as a strong person with an easy past”
I owe a huge thanks to you for inspiring me to get on RUclips. First time riding an Indian Scout = Mind Blown 🤯⚡️🥳!
I highly recommend everyone experience their full glory. Ride Safe Always!

Right on dude! Glad I got to take her for a scoot before she left the line up.
was just wondering, how would it compare to the new 2021 HD Sportster S.
It will be interesting to see
I own a Sportster S and have owned scout bobber I sold.Loved the scout nothing bad to say but the new Sportster S is a rocketship! I am no brand loyal in fact own a Indian Challenger. The new Sportster is as advertised so quick also more tech.Times are changing even for HD and some of us are glad for it
How different is the Scout 60? I'm ignorant of Indian.
Nice video enjoyed myself thinking about downsizing I want Indian not bobber to each his own
Just found your site. Great video, thanks. Question for you, do you happen to know what after market exhaust Corey put on the Indian Bobber? Sounds great. Cheers.
I believe that is the freedom performance combat 2 to 1
I have to say both marques make really handsome bikes but the lack of lean angle available on either is what will always put me off them.
Yeah the fat bob will definitely scrape.
my issue with both bikes is low seat height very little rear suspension travel and cramped legs.Low Low is an American thing but terrible for riding scraping pegs back getting jolts on bumps etc.Why I like standard bikes. If I want a cruiser I'll get Valkyrie flat 6 legs under relaxed.
I know looks are opinions but the Scput ot preforms on the pavement and looks.
Love mids for the city
You should have tried that 1200 low as well. It would have been better competition for the Indian over yours.
The Indian is a lot more fun to ride if you like having a little power
True 💯
I love your Iron and I’m a Indian guy!🤯🔫🃏
Thanks man! 👍
Great vid!
I loooove my scout
You have to test the newer models ;)
The 15 model had a few flaws.
Put a new exhaust on a newer model and ur good to go.
Harley or Indian for first bike and something to grow into and use for a long time
Go with whatever feels best for ya
lol can see the guys grow light in the window
😂 Good eye, even though PA is a Medical Marijuana state, unfortunately those were just regular house plants 🪴
@@TurtlesTwoWheelers ah yeah I'm in pa too. Whatcha got some tomatoes?
@@patrickmarrone8565 Had a couple Pachira Aquatica AKA “Money Trees”, and tons Spider Plants. Thought some purple lights would help em grow, but honestly just regular sunlight is the best bet from my experience 😁
that bikes is not very high from the ground, the america roads is must be very good, eh?
Your sportster hates you for talking smack about it on the demo ride. Tsk tsk, you know better!
Literally almost everything is faster than a sportster lol.
Nope he didn't. Just told the real.
Don’t test ride an Indian Challenger! You’ll ride one home!
The only People who don't know how bad Harley Davidsons are .. are people who have never ridden other brands..
Don't you get tired of being a full time hater?
@@omarsalgado9715 Why are people so Clueless haw bad Harleys are with the exception of the Pan American ?
@@mikeskidmore6754 No, why are you such a hater? In every post that mentions H-D, you're there just like whining brat? Got nothing better to do?
Its like Blippi is actually a biker lol
😳🫡🤣🤓💯
Why is the US flag upside down on the 883? Thats a "signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property".
I was wondering about that as well. Not American, but the only people I've seen do that are people on the extreme left.
Previous owner did that with the flag, I had literally just bought the bike a couple days prior to this video.
🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸
Wait...there are Sportster GUY'S??
I know right lol 😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣😁😁😆😆
Here’s how I’ll know if you’re from Philly what’s the best cheesesteak please
He has seen the light
So im a new scriber but was curious on a possible collaboration I’m a new rider in the beginning or my journey and have ideas for content of me on my journey if interested
I wana bike fr now
It's pretty cool the way you show everyone where he lives, even telling us the name of his street. I found the guy's front gate on Google maps in about 30 seconds. If I was a shady type looking to rob me some bikes, I would know where to go.
@@NFL1976 Heh. Why are you so angry?
Hey let's ride!
Would like a look of a sporty with the engine of a scout
@@TheMotoJawn hammer performance can hook you up
IMHO the Sportster is hands down the most pleasing to the eye. The Indians just look cheaply made to me. I have not ridden one but may try one this Spring here in PA. The only Polaris I've ever owned is my 2019 Ranger 1000 North Star Edition and it rocks.
I'm literally the opposite of you. I think the sportsters look cheaply made and the scouts look incredible. I guess thats why we all have opinions.
@@trevorshaw6123 for sure I have to admit the scouts are growing on me.
10 minutes... Just 10 minutes! Imagine the fatboy ir the low riders guys!
@MN Citizen
Thank you for your service brother 🙏❤️.
Where's the beef?
Didn't get interesting until minute 8, geez
Watching him come up to the jankiest house on the street, but then discover, wait that's the Carriage house. That's the oldest house on the street.
I prefer the Harley 😀
All was going well until 6:53 into the video. Corey's Harley 883 had the American flag upside down on the bike. I wouldn't have wasted my time with him and walked away. Then blocked his number and deleted his number from my phone.
Previous owner did that with the flag, I had literally just bought the bike a couple days prior to this video.
🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸
8:15 .... That's not HP you're feeling that torque. I don't usually care if people make that mistake but if you're gonna review bikes... C'mon man.
