I am 64 and have a channel that your mom might find encouraging: A Slower Pace. My demographic is 55+ people interested in walking the Camino. I just got home yesterday from my second Camino. You two walking together is an amazing gift to each other. Again, Buen Camino!

As much as your walk is for you, I hope you will document your journey for us. Your personal journey was truly moving and really drew us in. Thank you for the inspiration Stefanie. As for the coastal versus central, I have walked both and if I was to talk the portuguese again I would do the coastal with the Variante Espiritual everytime. Its a very different experience to the Frances but everybit as rewarding.

Great stuff started watching you today. Start CF 30 Aug so very excited. Did the Portuguese in 2021 my first with my Wife (UK)and our 2 Texas world travel buddies It's beautiful. Consider the Espiritual variant as the Central gets very busy from Tui. The boat ride on the Espiritual is special. PS loved the documentary you are a lovely human being. Excellent news for you and your Mum. Over think it and enjoy all the different places it takes you before you even leave! Who knows how good a movie you'll make with your mum. We'll be walking the Norte from 19/9 and if we probably won't see you in Santiago but we will see loads of others which as you know is all you need. Take the coast or toss a coin. I love the beach!

Doing the camino portugués at the moment now. I’m doing the central route which I really recommend. A lot quieter then the French route but well worth it. I hope it is a wonderful experience for you both ❤

This has to be so exciting for you!! Your documentary was so thoughtful and inspiring to me, and apparently to your mom as well! I’m about to walk my first Camino Frances this summer, alone for most of it, and your words have me feeling much more confident! Buen Camino!! I still need to get myself an umbrella!! 😂 Maybe one day my kids will want to walk a Camino with me.
Good luck and I just know u and Mom will have so much fun - I did the Camino Frances in 2010 and ever since been thinking of the Portuguese route - I left Santiago on way to Fatima and stopped in Porto love the place and the people - I would love to do that Camino one day - blessings 🙏🙏💕💕

Congrats on the new next Camino! I walked the Portuguese from Porto with my Dad in 2019. Started on the Coastal for like a day then moved over to the Central route, it was gorgeous and wouldn't change a thing. We met a beautiful Camino family and missed the tempestuous coastal weather.

Walked from Porto to Santiago via the senda litoral + spiritual variant last year. It was such an awesome walk to that I then decided to walk back to Santiago via the same route. Just got back from Norte+Fisterra/Muxia+Ingles 2 days ago, the post-camino blues are hitting hard today (completely normal). BUEN CAMiNO!!!!! I'm sure you will love the Portugues, no matter which route you end up taking!

Love your posts after having a sudden interest in walking the Camino. I don’t know where I heard of it but the notion came into my head this week and I’ve started doing research to solo walk it for my 50th bday. Can’t wait to see your CP experience. I have your CF documentary on my watch list. I’m trying to decide between the CF and CP from Porto. Not sure if I’m ready to leave my family for long enough to do the CF. Please, please video your training in NY... my sister and I walked the Portuguese twice..once from Porto, once from Tui. We loved the culture, and the people. We are both vegetarian...we found the more we kept an open mind the better we felt. We are from Staten Island NY..she still lives there, I'm in NJ....

A word of encouragement: Seek the true meaning of "The Camino" - through having a deeper understanding and relationship with Jesus Christ. Prepare spiritually by reading the Bible, especially the Gospels, as much as you train physically. You will gain much more from the experience ❤
Our 28 year old daughter and I walk the Camino Portuguese Coastal literal variant and it was a great experience. We walked it last October. it is a different experience from the Camino Frances which I walked solo in September and October 2021. Bom Caminho!

Making memories. I was planning to do coastal in the spring but have had some health issues to deal with. Originally I was going to do central but then a local guide said that central is a lot of urban roads so had planned to go coastal. Are you saying those long distances you were doing on the frances, you did not train ahead of time? How did you do that?? Also, on youtube Nadine Walks is great. She covers a lot of caminos.

OMG Stephanie!!!! I'm in Brooklyn, and I'm doing the Camino Portugues Coast + Variate Espiritual starting around September 10-15. I watched your doc and inspired by you i bought the Mira32 backpack. I plan on walking barefoot when it feels good/safe and when not, i'll walk with EarthRunner sandals. Love your energy and videos and had thought of reaching out to you to see if you wanted to meet up for some tacos and talk Camino, but hey, now we could go for Camino training in nyc together! Wow, I am so happy for you! Whenever I see people doing the Camino with parents I think they are so lucky to be able to do it! I did the Portuguese along the coast last October and it was stunning but quite challenging because the camino route make you walk on hills and mountains and we had 13 days of heavy rain. It was my fist camino and I wasn’t prepared of all that rain plus I thought it was all along the coast but nope!😂
On mi second camino ( ingles) this June from Ferrol, because it was much shorter ( but still lots of hills to deal with) I thought it was going to be less emotional but the truth was that I knew what to expect and even when we had rain for a couple of days it was ok because last time I got used to it. And I had way more fun and enjoyed every second of it even more than the first. Also when I arrived in Santiago I have started to cry despite I was there 8 months before because I was less exhausted and very excited so every camino is special and different because you will be different. The first was amazing but the second was even better. I am leaving this October for the sanabrese from Ourense and I am sure will be great! I will do it with two American ladies I have met on the first camino! ❤

You can mix the three Portuguese Camino, do the coastal , then central then the Espiritual , doable in 11-13 days
Hi there, could you possibly do a video where you break down the cost of the camino. I know everyone’s experience will be different because it’s all dependent on where you stay, what you buy etc, but a rough guide would be really helpful. Thank you. All your other videos are inspiring and so helpful
Efrén González has done this, and much better than I ever could! He has playlists with each Camino, and in the description of each video he has a breakdown of exactly what he spent each day. Check him out, he's amazing!! 🤗 I just found his Portuguese series and am watching it now 🥳

The camino Portuguese is so much different from the Frances one. Not so many pelegrinos, the athmosphere is so different, less engaging.

Is there a connection between the Queen of Spain and the name Hurtado. Never underestimate your unknown lineage. I was a skeptic thinking this kind of stuff has no basis in fact. I always thought I was mostly German until I found out that my grandfather was adopted and after a dna test found out I am mostly Irish. Then my brother showed me documentation that shows my French Candian great grandmother is directly linked to thr founders of Montreal, Canada. So don't discount the idea that their may be some very unexpected personages in your family's personal history. In the train station in Oporto is an azuelo mural of Hurtado who fought in a battle in Portugal.
